Impressive Eleven tMadison Park Hits It Out Of The Park On All Scores
Eleven Madison Park’s (EMP) Executive Chef, Daniel Humm, is all of the following — Pioneer, Visionary, Maestro — but as impressive as being able to easily claim these titles, is his ability to follow up in all he does with meticulous precision, at the same time remaining amiable in his interactions. The Swiss-born chef, who came to the U.S. to take a top culinary position in a highly-regarded San Francisco restaurant, then moved to NYC to EMP, later buying it with a partner. Humm’s latest achievement has been revisioning EMP as only serving plant-based dishes, while also awaking with this move all to the fact the food industry must change. This he shows can be done with no loss of deliciousness. Open 7 nights & lunch on Saturdays from 12 to 2pm. Michelin gives EMP three stars, saying his bold plant- based menu takes the concept to unparalleled new heights. As a vegetarian, as a young woman with a young son some decades back, my commitment to making sure I fed nutritious but also delicious food to him was no easy task to fulfill when eating out. Even now one can find it hard to find eateries where the plant- based menu sings. It does at EMP. One can also eat @ the bar -but only six coveted stools available! His whole team is perfect & makes EMP perfect, especially to eat at with Earth Hour & Earth Day coming up. Just the place to go. Humm has been in the kitchen since 14 years old: May he stay on forever. Posted by S Fuller

It's such a great place - we were just there two months ago and liked it so much we went back again. The food is creative, presented incredibly well and delicious. And the wine pairings are amongst the best - they're so good and so well executed. And service is amazing. Can't wait to go back in the spring with all the fresh greens!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and service
The Food was really delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. I would Definietly Come back again to try a New course.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious vegan food in an opulent setting.
We booked the shorter tasting menu with wine pairings and seating in the bar area. The space is modern and airy - quite unlike your typically crowded Manhattan restaurant. The cocktails were excellent. The food was exceptionally good and the wines were well suited. The service was impeccable. Exactly what we expected and a very enjoyable evening.
Be the first to ReplySimply one of the best experiences of my life
Simply mindblowing. The attention to detail, the personalised treatment, the flavours and presentation of each dish, the expertise of the staff and the beautifully decorated restaurant were enough of an experience as it was. The cherry on the cake was the fact that the staff were wonderful enough to give us a tour of the kitchen due to it being our wedding day and make us a drink while we were in there. They even drew us a lovely little post card of us getting married and gave us a bowl of granola to take home! I'll never forget our visit to Eleven Madison Park, it really was one of those moments in life where you feel on top of the world and lucky to be alive.
Be the first to Reply12 courses in heaven
This restaurant is top-notch! The service was not just attentive but also personable, making it a really enjoyable experience. The food was not only delicious (12 courses) but also beautifully presented. What sets it apart is the interactive element – special table presentations, personalizing flavors, and even assisting in the cooking process. Sure, I miss the foie gras and caviar, but it's still among the best culinary experiences in the country. Definitely worth a special journey.
Be the first to ReplyA bit of food poisoning will ruin an otherwise great night out!
We had a great evening at Eleven Madison Park. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly, informative, and attentive. The food was really interesting--beautifully plated and very delicious. Great flavor combinations that were fresh and interesting. Unfortunately, about 6 hours after we left, my wife had the chills, was nauseous, threw up, and had diarrhea. After 8-10 hours of that, she was feeling better. Not sure what she had, but something at dinner was not right.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic and creative food with amazing wine pairings.
We did the full tasting and the wine pairing - what a great night! The food was fantastic - so many flavors and textures all reflecting the season so well. Each course was presented in an amazing way, and each was delicious with each one building upon the last. And the service and explanations of each course was excellent as well. The wine pairings were also among the best we've had. We've been to many Michelin starred restaurants (I know, that sounds snobby, sorry) and this was easily one of our favorites.

Be the first to ReplySeriously? What a rip-off. Compelled to eat Popeye's when we got home...
Every morsel of food we ate was delicious, amazing. But, all one gets here is a series of salty morsels of vegetables. It's like all the courses were missing the main dish and one was instead served excellent garnishes or sides. I felt like the chef was watching us all on closed circuit TV, mocking us to his friends, "can you believe all these idiots are paying $1000+ for garden grown beats and potatoes...HA!" After the first couple of dishes came out, we started playing a game where we would fantasize about what we could add to the plate to give it some substance. "Imagine how good this would be with a soft boiled egg!" "With a few bites of chilean sea bass, this would be incredible!" Alas no. After the wine pairing, we spent about $1600 for two people to eat crudite. Again, the food was tasty (if you love salt, but I do). It's just ridiculous to charge that much money for beats, mushroom water, and russet potatoes (yes, one of the dishes was a steamed russet potato.) It's not about it being vegetarian either. I have had many veggie only meals that were amazing and filling. It felt like they were running out of food and trying to figure out how to ration the last beat so that everyone would get a sliver of salty root. I would never, ever go back and certainly warn all people considering it to choose another spot. My husband, a person who is meticulous about eating healthy, organic food, devoured a stale, cold popeye's chicken sandwich our son left behind when we got home.
Be the first to Replyjust ok
i was excited for the experience but just thought that in whole i just had an ok time. Considering the cost and the food and the ambience i was thinking to not go back. I wish the space had better decor but i did appreciate the invite into the kitchen for a special desert. It was nice to see how everything is run from that side of the restaurant. The staff were lovely. The food was tasty. We chose the 8 course menu option for $385.
Be the first to Replyexpected so much more…
was disappointed… price/value for bar tasing menu is below zero! food was ok but far away from 3 stars michelin… the staff was very attentive and nice.
Be the first to ReplyI cannot express my disappointment enough
When this restaurant went vegan I was still confident that they would put on a good show and quality, mindblowingly tasty food, as the price point remained very high and the two michelin stars remained in tact. I was as wrong as the price was high. Genuinely surprised by how unspectacular the taste of the food was and lack of the pomp and circumstance ceremony that usually means as such levels of dining that you're getting a show and a meal in one. So desperate for trying to inject flavor into vegetables, some of the dishes were just overly salted veggies. I could just do that at home - but wouldn't, because hypotension. Even if I made enough money to justify this type of dining on a regular basis, I would still feel pretty gross about it. What was supposed to be a special dining event I had waited years for was an anti-climatic assault to the wallet that I feel metaphorically sick about - I guess the one upside is the food didn't make me physically sick. If you're on the fence about going, my advice would be to steer clear. It's unimpressive and the only thing spectacular about it, is how much of a waste of money it is. I don't understand how the staff and proprietor don't feel bad about fleecing people like this. The restaurant is supposed to have an ethical approach to not eating animals, what about in regards to not overcharging customers? The restaurant was half empty through my entire experience and deservedly so.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a $1000 meal won't get you - Good FOOD
The best way to describe the tasting menu at Eleven Madison Park is like having a senior care home meal with a twist. That twist is loads of salt. Or maybe, that’s typical for the senior care culinary world. The food, just like the service, the atmosphere and the design of Eleven Madison Park was soulless. Flavors were monotonous across the dishes. Every course felt like a boring variation of the previous one. The presentation was average at best and the servers described the dishes in well rehearsed robotic style. Eleven Madison Park truly gives Michelin a bad rep. The potato with black truffle and smoked potato broth was simply undercooked. The pretentious presentation that included pouring water into an oversized tajin like dish was amusing. What’s exciting about pouring water into a boiling surface and watching the steam coming out? The bread that came with the tofu butter was the only thing to save the day. Thank god for bread. The tofu with onion had so much salt in it it could send any person with a heart disease to cardiac arrest. Lastly, the ice cream. Get any gelato street vendor to give you their syrup, pure the entire thing in a bowl and you got Eleven Madison Park’s super sweet Tonka Bean ice cream. At the end of the dinner, the server provided us with a bag that included the tasting menu in it and stated: “This is for you to remember what you experienced today.” To be perfectly honest, that’s an experience I’d like to forget. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give Eleven Madison Park a 2. The only reason they scored 2 is the granola jar they provide at the end of the meal. The granola is delicious.
Be the first to ReplySublime!!!
Let's start by clearing up a couple of things. This is NOT a vegetarian restaurant. Previous reviewers labeling it as such should not be allowed in! Why such a harsh comment? We spoke directly with Chef Humm during our meal about the switch to a plant-based menu. As to his reason why, I paraphrase: "Look what's happening to the world. It the right thing to do". My wife and I are both ethical vegans and appreciated his similar philosophy about not abusing other species on this planet. There is just no need. Others have raved about the food and service. Our experiences were identical. This is not an evening out to eat some food. This is a culinary experience which is to be savored as one is pampered by a perfectly choreographed serving staff. Is it expensive? Of course it is. This is something many people would never be able to afford. Without any alcohol, it was a $1,000 evening (this included a 20% tip). It was worth every penny. The food, the staff, the ambience----food as theater!!! DO NOT FEIGN ANY IGNORANCE WHEN YOU RESERVE, SPECIFICALLY ONLINE. YOU WILL BE CHARGED IN FULL (EXCLUDING TIP). THEIR CANCELLATION POLICY IS VERY CLEAR-----THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SITUATION (E.G., ILLNESS, MISSED FLIGHT, ETC.).
Be the first to ReplyExperience culinary perfection at Eleven Madison Park.
Experience culinary perfection at Eleven Madison Park. From the moment you step into the elegant dining room with the tall ceilings, to the last bite of dessert, every detail is carefully crafted to create a truly unforgettable meal. The only plant based menu with 3 Michelin stars, the menu is innovative and delicious. We started with a hot pot of sweet potato with lemongrass, followed by a celery root with rice porridge, 3rd course was white turnip and horseradish, followed by a tofu course, 5th course was squash with fried shiso pepper, then bok choy with white truffle and finally grilled celery root with juniper and pine. The palate cleanser was one of the best I’ve ever had, a grape sorbet and consommé, the flavors were perfect and so balanced. Dessert was an apple with birch and cinnamon and ended with a pretzel with sesame and chocolate. EMP is not to be missed.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience sitting at the bar!
I have visited Eleven Madison Park several times and have come back repeatedly to sit at the bar. Brian, the bartender, has made our experience so enjoyable, fun and entertaining. He is the best bartender and knows the menu inside and out!!!
Be the first to ReplyOverrated place
This is an overrated place. The people who came later than me and my friend got served faster than me and my friend. This is unfair.
Be the first to ReplyWorst $1000 spent for tasteless meal
All the dishes were tasteless, the pinnacle was the last dish which they proudly circle it around the restaurant in a casket, it was fifty shades of poop(excuse my french) color zucchini that I thought it’s pickle half way through. Avoid this place by all cost
Be the first to ReplyGreat Vegan food and wine experience !!
Everything was amazing, greetings, presentation of food, taste, tour of the kitchen, Two Of those special cocktails and also the wine pairing details and explaination. Not to forget that gift with granola❤️❤️ No wonder why they got 3 michelin star restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful from start to finish
We had a 9:30 PM reservation for the bar tasting menu, and though we didn't leave the restaurant until midnight, the staff made it seem like the night was still in its prime. We had 6 courses and the standard (vs. reserve) wine pairing. Our daughter had two soft cocktails which she enjoyed and were presented beautifully. We were absolutely blown away by the first course, which ended up being our favorite of the night. The menu is focused on seasonal ingredients and they made the ingredients sing in each refined dish. The wine worked beautifully with each course, and the wine professional (Nick, I think was his name) that came to our table to explain each wine was wonderfully friendly and informative and completely accessible and unpretentious. We truly enjoyed every course- some more than others, of course. Our meal ended with a stellar dessert and a gift of granola, which was a nice touch to be able to take home something to remember our beautiful dinner. We really loved our time at EMP and would absolutely want to dine there again.
Be the first to ReplyChapeau! Well deserved 3 Michelin stars
This was the culinary highlight, best plant based food experience ever. We were enchanted with dishes whose flavours and contrasts were perfectly balanced. An exquisite mix of different flavours and textures. On the beverage side, my partner’s wine pairing was perfectly selected to complement each dish. I opted for the non-alcoholic beverage flight which paired non alcoholic Sauvignon blanc for example with green tea and other flavours. I was very curious to taste these as for one I haven’t found a non alcoholic wine that I truly liked (way too sweet for me) and second, would you ever have thought of mixing wine and tea? Well, the combo was very good! I would def go for that option again! To conclude on the culinary experience - none of the dishes attempted to mimic meat or fish. It was all about the plant, bravo! All of this in a fantastic location with a more than impeccable service crew. Everyone was genuinely friendly and wanted to give the guest the best time at the restaurant. Thank you all again for an unforgettable evening.
Be the first to ReplySelf-limited innovation
I am rating this relative to what I expect on a 3-starred michellin, which gives it 1 trip advisor star. I have worked at michellin restaurants. Even though a vegan menu could be made in which a multiple array of flavors could be introduced, we were met with something that clearly lacks finding it's place yet. A great pivot, from a "normal" menu to a vegan menu should be met with rigourous standards. I don't think this passes a 3 star michellin standard anymore. Wine pairirgs were trying to simulate a normal red meat course, while it clearly wans't the case. Dishes were repetitive, often using asparragus/vegetable reductions to add flavor/umami. Not saying this is bad, this is just a common techinique. What one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber going vegan is: - No repetition amongst the few courses - Better pairing, maybe a wine only pairing isn't the best now that you don't serve red meat, which pair great with tanins on red wine? - More innovation, if you are going to pretend to keep 3 stars, then better start creating new stuff on the vegan cuisine. - Our comments were: Great execution, seems like animal protein coulud add up, what we meant by this is: "Nothing new in the vegan cuisine here, just a great chef, doing great vegan food and that's it". - There wasn't any kind of theme to the whole diner, it was just like, you know, we are just vegan now. Overall, good fine-dining experience, not worthy of 3 michellin stars. They definitely need a few years before they manage to get back to a good level. Will come back in 5+ years, or when they decide to go back to a more explored kind of menu. I deeply respect that they are going vegan, but one star is all I can give to a restaurant rated so highly on internationa standrads.
Be the first to ReplyMost expensive waste of money
This was the most expensive waste of money. Most of dishes was unexpectable salty , mostly uneatable. They are using asparagus in 2 dishes out of 5 it is boring for 3 Michelin stars restaurant. Most dishes was tasteless. If you are using radish, fava beans etc, it should be evaluated to the highest level of 3 Michelin stars, they didn't. White asparagus was overcooked. Desert was so sour that can not be eating. We brought with as our cup with our special medicine tea. After second meal the Indian water started annoying asking what is inside of your cup which destroyed my wife mud for the rest of the dining, It unacceptable was this level of establishment. Think twice before get rip off. Don't go
Be the first to ReplyTried the tasting Menue
May be I am one who would write overrated. But to be honest I have been eating in Vegan Restaurants much better then here. Glamour of course. The dishes have been very nicely presented by waiters who could be more enthusiastic. But for 3 Star I would expect more surprises in the dishes for this price. I can not complain but as rated 3 stars I was not to happy
