From the eska breakfast, the mushroom dish was great.
Everything else was ordinary including the bread. The seating outside is pretty. The kombucha was good.

Great spot! Delicious bread that stay fresh for couple days! Food was amazing! Service was fast and friendly! Place is clean and modern. I will definitely be back when Iam in Prague
Be the first to ReplyA must go in Prague.
I absolutely loved this place. We went for brunch and will definitely be going back. You can watch them make bread, which is amazing. Causal dinning experience, you order at the counter and they give you a number and pick and table. The FOOD IS AMAZING and have lots of different options. 10/10 recommend!!

Recently the restaurant underwent a revamp of its concept. The food was a bit pricy and seemed to be bougie just for the sake of being bougie. We ordered a few things including the ESKA special breakfast. My mind was blown!!! The tastes were amazing and all worked so well together. Really, a kind of split wheat, mushrooms soup and an poached egg in a bowl absolutely delicious and completely unexpected. Would definitely go back. It is a slight bit expensive but well worth it for the fresh ingredients and combinations.

The ground floor has community style seating where you can sit at the counter and eat. There is table seating upstairs. I had potatoes in ash and it was really good!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent and inventive breakfast.
Service was professional and the staff speak English.
Be the first to ReplyA great place outside the tourist center of Prague.
The modern decor creates a great, casual vibe. The focus is on innovative takes on Czech cuisine and the ordering process (choose any two or five items from the menu) allows the eater to have a similarly no traditional meal. While most, but not all, dishes hit it out of the park, all showed great thought and effort. A lot of fun.
Be the first to ReplyI visited this restaurant with my girlfriend.
This was her second time, but mine first. It's far from the old town, but nothing like Bolt or Uber can take you. We were greeted by a cute host, and she pointed us upstairs, where all the dining tables were located. We were greeted by another host, who showed us our table. The process could have been smoother. The service was alright because my server forgot to bring my beer, so I gave it 4 stars. But the food was good. I ordered the 2 serving with 2 wine that pairs with your food. But for wine, the sommelier gets to pick it. I ordered the Re-hydrated beetroot for a starter, it was delicious with a little acidity and powerful vinegar flavor, but I liked it. The Main entree I ordered Hanger Steak. They cooked it rare. The texture was nice and not chewy. It had some blood from the meat. I prefer medium rare. 4/5I would go back but ask them if I can have the steak at different cooked a little longer and have one host do all, not hand you off.
Be the first to ReplyHad a great meal at Eska -- very cool place.
My wife got the tasting menu and everything was great. I started with the beef tartare and had skirt steak. They were both outstanding. Great place, I highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyOverall a great culinary experience, but not worth the trip
Overall a great culinary experience, but not worth the trip if you're staying in Prague center. I got the recommended potato dish, and only had half of it as while it was tasty it was immediately overly filling. While this dish is meant to be creamy, too much of the focus is on the cream and not enough on the other ingredients. There's so much great food in Prague that I wouldn't make the trip to Karlin/ Eska again. The decor is meager (put nicely) and the atmosphere is of locals having a working lunch. The food was tasty, but I was under impressed after walking 30+ minutes for the experience. The service was superb, perfectly attentive, helpful and knowledgeable.

We just returned from Prague and I may have had one of my all time culinary experiences EVER at Eska. I have been wracking my brain to try and figure out if French Laundry was as good or better - not to mention the many other incredible meals I have had around the world over the years. I can say that my experience as Eska was one I will remember for many years to come. I will also say that I will go back to Prague - and I will go back and east at Eska when I do. The food and experience is a destination for sure! I was traveling with a group of clients of our travel agency who love food and wine and Eska was recommended by a local. I wanted to provide our guests with Czech cuisine, but not traditional like the night before. Eska knocked it out of the park. Everything was incredible - the food - the service - the atmosphere - this is a MUST if you are in Prague and if you aren't, you might want to plan a trip ... or let us :)
Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazing.
My party did the tasting menu and they are excellent with dietary restrictions. They have an amazing wine pairing to go with it. The staff is very kind and efficient. If you are looking for a place to eat, this is the one.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant during my visit to Prague and was happy to hear our walking tour guide recommend it as well. It's located in a bakery, which I unfortunately didn't have the chance to try. The ambience is modern, but warm, think hip farmhouse with lots of wood and light. The service was very good, with all dishes explained and suggestions for pairings gently mentioned. As others have mentioned, the ash potatoes are amazing! Our tour guide raved about them so I elected to have them as my main meal. I also tried the tartare, which was also quite good. Unfortunately, I was not hungry enough to order much more, but the potatoes were satisfying all in themselves. The others I was with were very impressed with their full meals, so I would say it was hit. It is definitely on the pricier side comparatively, but worth a try.

Eska is the type of restaurant that would not have been my first choice for breakfast, But I'm glad I did make the journey here. It's awesome and the food was surprisingly alright. The price is a bit high if your traveling to Prague with a budget. I may not return here for breakfast but it was an enjoyable experience.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious kefir, dessert, and ash potato dish.
Clean, creative place with cool vibe. Friendly, efficient staff. Bread and butter were AMAZING!

We dream of eating at this place again! We found it watching a YouTube channel about Prague and had to try it. They had this wine drink that was so good and we've been trying to find something similar in the states! The potato's in ash is amazing. We're dying to go back!

Eska is a true gem located in the Karlin neighborhood and was one of our favorite stops in Prague. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior is a converted warehouse with a coffee shop and open kitchen on the main floor, with a main dining area upstairs. We totally went to town here for brunch, and everything was so delicious! The menu definitely leans more toward modern european. The potatoes in ash, smoked fish, dried egg yolk, and kefir was amazing. I would highly recommend this dish to any foodie. It was so unexpected and the flavors were so unique. The bread and butter was made in house and the sausages and variety of toasts were also great. While it's off the beaten bath, Eska is totally worth the trip.

Such an amazing breakfast! I did a bunch of research, and found this place- a total foodie's dream. Everything here is handmade, locally sourced, and delicious. They're out there getting their own honey, fermenting their own dairy to get kefir and yogurts- I was blown away. The restaurant is designed downstairs to be an open kitchen, and you can see how the restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine, with cleanliness and precision. The cook staff all worked so well together to get the dishes prepared! I got a lemonade, made with fermented lemon balm, which was unlike any drink I'd ever had- it was slightly effervescent with the fermentation 'bite.' Nom! I also got fresh yogurt and fruit, which was handmade and again, phenomenal. Their bread was all made that morning, the butter was churned locally from talented cows. The whole space is very industrial, it used to be a factory where I think they made water coolers. But now, it's been lovingly turned into this kitchen, with lots of reminders that it used to be an industrial space. Now a lot of the shelves and walls are decorated with canned locally foraged foods. Restrooms are upstairs, and they don't have an elevator. I liked this place so much, I sent them a postcard from Texas thanking them for such a great meal! If you go- look for the one from San Antonio! Yeeeehaw!

Looks like a neighborhood party n early stage of gentrification. It's outside the main city. Right next to a boarded up warehouse. Looks like a converted warehouse. Gives a clean classy hipster vibe. Wide open clean, bright, and airy. Completely open kitchen on first floor. Service was excellent. Polite, patient, and helpful. The food was fresh. Definitely has a Nordic flare to it. Smoked fish and pickled vegetables. Espresso was clean and smooth. The wild berry lemonade was refreshing. Loved how they served fresh bread with butter on a rock. The butter was sprinkled with green salt. So good!! Ash potatoes were quite good. Portions are deceptively filling. Bread Waldorf was just ok. It's a Waldorf salad on a slice of bread. I liked the granola. Very nutty though. Breakfast Eska comes with a bowl of fermented wheat, almost like a large hybrid of rice and barley. Breakfast Karlin is scrambled eggs topped with smoked trout with side of pickled vegetables. Also get a sweet curd that tastes like yogurt. The Czech breakfast is basically a deconstructed salami sandwich. Salami, cheese, and a baguette. Loved the side of pickled vegetables. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested in new Nordic inspired food. Menu might not be the most kid friendly.
Be the first to ReplyCame here with a great food tour.
We were seated at chef's tables where we can see how they prepare our dishes. The freshly made bread ( bake fresh everyday ) and butter ( I wish I can buy and ship the butter home ) were excellent and the rest were just ok.

No regrets traveling out of the heavy tourist areas to this industrial chic eatery. Unique flavors and textures which were totally unexpected. Delicious. Service was excellent.

One of the most intriguing stops on our food tour, partly because it's located in a more residential neighborhood that is two stops on the metro from the city center. Lovely restaurant on two levels with stairs and as you go up the stairs, you can look down into the kitchen to see what's going on and how clean it is.Here's what we had. Amazing bread baked in the shop with a salted butter SERVED ON A ROCK. How damned cool is that?Potatoes cooked in ashes with a cream and leek sauce called "kefir" that is some sort of creamed yogurt. The potatoes were amazing.Roast chicken breast with cabbage. Beautiful rich flavor, well cooked and delicious. I'd eat this all day.A gin and tonic with their house-distilled gin with their house-made tonic, to which they added carrot, beet, apple and a grape. It was delicious!I'm absolutely a fan![Review 12216 overall, round number 2000 of 2019.]

Eska - an amazing restaurant located about 10 minutes from the heart of Prague - is part of the Ambiente group which owns many restaurants throughout Prague. This was our second breakfast, the first being at Boho. We all were pretty full so we ordered light. Even though we didn't eat a full course meal, everything we ate was absolutely delicious! It was also really nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city to relax and hang out with a great cup of coffee. Eska's dishes have a Nordic flare with a focus on vegetables. We all ordered coffees. I ordered pancakes with fresh creme (OMG! so good!). Lauren ordered a yogurt parfait which was also equally delicious and Wendi ordered oatmeal. Everything was so fresh and tasty! Be the first to ReplyI don't ever write yelp reviews but I'm compelled.
People must be informed. By way of background, I would describe myself as an American who is an informed, very practical, yet open minded food snob. In a nutshell, this place makes no sense and is extremely overpriced and pretentious compared to other outstanding, great restaurants in the area. The positives-- chic industrial decor, food tastes good. End of list. My partner and I opted for the 5 dish tasting menu. What we were served would not have been enough food for a premature newborn baby. It was 5 dishes TO SPLIT! Word of advice-- be very protective of your bread and butter. When you are being served several pieces of kale (to split, remember!), you'll be wishing you told that waitress to keep the bread and butter coming. At one point, on the 4th dish, my partner said she was full-- the most shocking moment of a night full of shocks. I nearly fell out of my seat but composed myself enough to lunge across the table and fork the last tiny piece of veal on the plate. Now here is what i truly don't understand -- we were each charged separately for the tasting menu-- the separate charge I might add, was more than any meal we had paid total on our trip to Prague up to that point.. The waitress specifically asked us when we ordered it we would both be getting it. Which begs the question-- could we have got the same amount of food if only my partner ordered off the tasting menu and then only paid once? Why would we have ordered the 5 course, over priced tasting menu when we could have picked 5 dishes on our own and paid less? They even separately charged for the espressos we got with the dessert dish and sparkling water that was NOT from a bottle. So many questions, so few answers ...
Be the first to ReplyVery interesting concept of turning an industrial warehouse
Very interesting concept of turning an industrial warehouse to a restaurant. It was on the Michelin guide. Therefore I decided to try it out. I think overall the food ok, however with other great less expensive options in Czech, Eska was just average for me. At least for the lunch meal that I had. I may/may not get a better experience if I had went for dinner. The potatoes in ash, smoked fish, dried egg yolk, kefir was supposed to be their specialty. It just felt they mashed different flavors together. It didn't well and it was slightly off. It was not bad, but I was expecting for a Michelin guide Bib gourmard place. I also felt that it was a bit pretentious as well. From the atmosphere as well as the service. Their salad was fresh, but just average. Nothing that special.
