Pleasant experience in NYC
A pleasant Japanese experience, it consists of 14 courses, each with a different type of Niguiri, they are eaten in a single bite and it is an experience with the chef preparing them in front of you. A great variety of flavors for just one hour, which is exactly how long the tasting lasts. For my taste, there is some rice missing to accompany

Super fresh Omakase, great experience overall... I have done many omakase tastings and this one is one of the best, the chef know what he's doing!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Birthday Experience
Fantastic birthday experience! From start to end, we felt like guests invited over to share a meal with an expert in his craft who took pride in the food he prepared and the way it was served. The level of respect chef has for the work was inspiring. Delicious offerings, great ambience, and overall a wonderful experience. We loved every minute of it and would return in a heartbeat for a special occasion. Strongly recommend.

Sushi is really good for the price. It looked like a great place hidden in basement level but the last seat of the counter is also partially blocking door to bathroom. Of course, I got that seat of all the luck. I did like the waiting area if you arrived early. Most places make you wait outside due to lack of space. The counter is long and I felt too long. Sure, you can serve more paying customers but when only one chef is serving, it took a while to serve everyone. There is reason why a 8 - 10 seating Omakase works best. It feels more personal and you don’t need to wait too long to get your food.
Be the first to Reply"Sushi Only" Omakase by Chef Tatsu
I came here with my partner for her birthday. Sushi is one of our favorite foods to eat. There are so many omakase restaurants in NYC so I had a hard time deciding where to go. After asking some of my Sushi Foodie Buddies where their favorite joints were, it came down to 3 places. I decided to do this spat and here’s why. I first heard of Omakase by Tatsu through Eater and it was one of the places at the top of my list to visit. Since I love to take pictures of food, the lighting inside looked amazing and the quality of the fish looked amazingly fresh. This is by far one of the best “Sushi Only” Omakase joints I have ever been. Just for context, Sushi only refers to no additional dishes. There isn’t any other luxury foods such as, “Caviar, Foie Gras, Wagyu etc.” With that said, this is a completely different experience that is worth going to. The service was impeccable and deserves all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. We reserved the last dining time on a Tuesday which was at 9PM. They were extremely accommodating from the moment I called them to ask about reservations to the moment we left the Resturant. If there are additional spaces during your reservation time and would like to add additional seats last minute they will accommodate for you. I recommend adding your requests to the additional notes when reserving your dining experience, but do not expect them to fulfill them as they will do their best to accommodate you as well as everyone else dining at the same time as you. I requested to sit in front of the chef and when we arrived the confirmed with us that we still wanted to sit in front of the chef. They took our coats before seating us and respected the prior diners to finish their conversation without rushing them before seating us. We were not rushed throughout the dining experience. Our list at the Omakase: - Buri (Japanese Amberjack/Yellowtail from Hokkaido) - Aji (Jack Mackerel) - Sea Scallop - Fluke w/ Orange Zest - Soy Marinated Bluefin Tuna - Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper) - Kegani (Horsehair Crab) - Iwashi (Japanese Sardine) - Sawara (Spanaish Mackerel) - Otoro (Fatty Bluefin Tuna) - Oyster w/ Black Salt - King Salmon (from New Zealand) - Squid (Japan) - Shima Aji (Jack Yellowtail) - Uni (Hokkaido) - Red Miso (Bonito Broth w/ Tofu & Chives) - Ikura (Salmon Egg) - Toro hand roll (Fatty Bluefin Tuna) - Anago (Sea Eel) Additional Sushi: - Ebi (Shrimp) - Sea Scallop Everything was extremely FRESH and tasted delicious. The most unique sushi on the list was the Oyster w/ Black Salt and very interesting (Not my favorite but still pretty good). My Top 5 pieces were: - Sea Scallop - Uni (Hokkaido) - Squid (Japan) - Otoro (Fatty Bluefin Tuna) - Shima Aji (Jack Yellowtail) Overall, I loved the experience we had. I like to sit in front of the chef so that we are able to speak to them, ask questions and watch him/her showcase their knife skills. Although everyone there is meant to provide an exceptional dining experience, I’d say, do your part in being friendly and to do your part in being respectful and good customers for the restaurant as well. I didn't have to pay cuz it was for a friend's party, I realistically have trouble justifying paying this much for dinner lol but if you can afford it, it's unbelievably delicious and definitely worth it.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best omakase in town
The place is a bit hard to find, located under a larger restaurant on a street corner. Bring your compass if you have to, because this sushi bar is not to be missed! At 145 $, chef Tatsuya’s omakase is a bargain in a city where a comparable treat commonly cost above 200$. The fish choice, the freshness and service rhythm are perfect. After trying many in NYC, this is definitely one of my two or three favorites locations for sushi. Tatsuya San is the former chef at sushi Yasuda, a more famed but also more costly place but I sense that, running his own counter has elevated him to a new level of excellence. Great choice of sakes. Friendlier Atmosphere than at most sushi bars. Communication with the chef is pleasant and more enjoyable than most. Highly recommended!!!

I really wish I could give this place a 6/5 because it was an experience that I did not know was possible. Beyond the food, the service and atmosphere cannot be overstated. The room is clean and intimate. The service is attentive but not overbearing. And the chef is a master, and he’s very accommodating as well. We came here as a surprise from my girlfriend and I will never forget the time we had. If you love sushi or just want a unique and fantastic experience, come and enjoy.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Intimate Sushi Experience
My first recommendation would be to arrive early/on-time for your reservation. The restaurant seats only 10 patrons, but arriving on-time certainly helps with the pace and experience of your meal. Over the course of our 90-minute dining experience, we had 18 pieces of sushi each. Even the ones that were outside of our comfort zone were great. Loved the variety of tastes, as well as the different origin points for our various bites. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Definitely arrive here with an appetite. Although we will return when we're back in the area, please keep in mind that this is a rather expensive dining option. That being said, I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a next-level sushi experience.

This is one of the things I love about The Village or SoHo. You can just pop into any restaurant and be wowed. We did Spanish, Mediterranean, Italian, and this....Japanese. It's not just sushi, but also Japanese dishes and all are fresh and delicious. It's a small place, which I love, but timing, reserving and patiently waiting is the price to pay. Speaking of price....not cheap
