Had a wonderful experience for lunch.
High quality, well prepared foods. A bit pricy for the bread and butter but the other entrees and appetizers were fairly priced. Having said that the food was really great! The service was good and although the ambiance is casual the food is anything but casual. Great taste and presentation. I had the broccoli and cheese soup which was rich and creamy and also had the fennel Ceasar which was unique and wonderful. Kudos to the chefs!

I got the risotto and the porter. I will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyOk so how do I say this with out being offensive.
..this is in an amazing location and i was super excited to try this place as they ate newly open. The service is excellent i will not deny them that. Now the food is yummy but extremely overpriced for what you get. They are farm to table and have a pretty decent menu but your paying for the location and if you ok with that then this is a place for you. We had and amazing flakey egg bacon sandwich that rocked! Not shareable for sure. Avocado toast is delicious and obviously the mimosa was well worth the high priced meal. Again it awesome to eat at this place since it is located in the Rockefeller Plaza and you get to people watch as you enjoy your breakfast.

Be the first to ReplyThis is an honest review and aimed at service and service
This is an honest review and aimed at service and service alone. Went here to celebrate valentines day with my husband. Was super excited to try another restaurant by chef Greg as we love Olmsted. The wait staff is very stand offish and weird. They aren't warm and no one asks you how everything is. They don't introduce themselves. It starts with that can I get for you. Not sure if that's their stick but let's be human please. It also took us forever to flag wait staff down as they pack the place in and then the wait staff is pouring wine and running back and forth but no one is looking to see if anyone needs anything. When I finally did get someone they were nice. The whole experience felt like a dystopian world kind of like the movie except Daniel Craig was not present and we were not forced to burn ourselves in the end. Would not come back for service. It was disappointing and the worst. I've had better service at Grey's papaya.

Couldn't ask for a nicer addition to the burgeoning first class food and wine scene at Rock Center. No happy hour. It ain't cheap. But everything is top notch especially Crystal , the Uber charming and helpful wine director. Ask for her recommendation and just take it. She knows her stuff.

Went for lunch while waiting for a taping of the Tonight Show. The menu is small, but most dishes looked amazing. I ordered the butter board, since I was going out for dinner later. Would have loved to give more stars. The problem was the flies. So. Many. Flies. One landed right on my bread, another on the little pot of herbs. When I told my waitress, she casually asked if I wanted a replacement. Not even acknowledging the fact that there were flies going around everywhere.Overall, it was fine. The butter board was kind of sad, flies notwithstanding.
Be the first to Replyi'd definitely come back here.
food was so unique. I never knew I could of tasted such food and be shocked with the flavor punch I got. Every dish was so great and interesting it's hard to describe to anyone how it tasted. All I could say was I never have tasted something so different and delicious. Staff was super friendly and kind and ambiance was great as well. Solid spot. Definitely recommend.

Be the first to ReplyFive Acres gets five stars for the food and service, but
Five Acres gets five stars for the food and service, but zero for location and ambiance. You feel like you are eating in the lobby coffee shop of a hotel. The restaurant is completely open to the concourse and people around you. Although you are on the ice skating rink level of Rockefeller Center there is no view of the skating. Simply the worst possible spot. But the food! The food is amazing. It is truly outstanding. Extraordinarily creative. The dishes are as complex as they are unique. While vegetable forward, there are plenty of meat and seafood options. The only slight fail was the bread and butter board, although the toasted bread was outstanding. The cocktails and desserts were also very good. We will be back, but if Five Acres were in a different location we would be back there all the time. Given the location and ambiance, it will be lower on our list.
Be the first to ReplyFive Acres just became my "go to" pre or post Theatre
Five Acres just became my "go to" pre or post Theatre restaurant of choice! As another reviewer noted, the it doesn't impress on first seeing it. With no walls separating the restaurant from Rock Center's underground passageways, it has sort of a diner/mall food court superficial feel. But oh, the food & the service! From the bread course through desert, the food was creative & delicious! The lamb "gyro" was unbelievably good! The sommelier steered us to a delicious & reasonably priced wine; Catelyn (sp?) our waitperson gave helpful recommendations & was friendly & charming! I'm looking forward to returning!
Be the first to ReplyA quick brunch for us during the holiday season.
Food was decent. I had the lox, onions & capers on focaccia bread that was very tasty. Definitely a knife and fork experience.I did grade them down on service. It became obvious that there was training going on, so every question or request was answered with a "let me find out" which usually took minutes along with a conference of restaurant staff. We also noticed rearranging of the bar setup while we were there. Now I read other reviews and found out they just recently opened, so they are trying hard to improve it sounds like. The final negative was the black coffee that I asked to be topped off while my wife finished eating. After another team conference on what to do they came back over five minutes later (and we were done eating) with a brand-new cup of coffee. And yes, they charged me another $6 for that cup of coffee which I now no longer needed. I could understand that for a specialty coffee, but, but not a plain cup of coffee. Just charge a couple bucks more for the first one if necessary
