My greatest grievance with Flour + Water (and its family of SF restaurants) is that they salt certain desserts. I want to like their desserts. Chocolate budino? I love it. Yes, please. But huge chunks of *salt* all all over my budino? Every single bite of the budino here included at least two hunks of salt. F+W, I beg you: please do not salt your chocolate budino. In the fleeting moments before I crunched down on Nerd-sized pebbles of salt, I could taste your wonderful budino. It's really lovely. And then, as soon as I hear the tell-tale CRUNCH of salt crystals shattering in my mouth, that chocolate flavor is steamrolled by the sharp taste of *salt*. (I ordered the panna cotta at Penny Roma and the budino at F+W, and both places salt these specific desserts. This is a warning to the dozens of salt-sensitive folks out there.)Besides this, F+W is pretty good. We started out with a ricotta cheese appetizer, which was a memorable and very solid dish. Their pasta is really tasty, although the portions are a bit small. My friend and I preferred their pasta dishes to the other entrees. The last thing is that our salsiccia pizza that unfortunately came with anchovies, which wasn't disclosed on the menu. The fish and their little eyes on our pizza was a minor jumpscare. In summary: when at F+W, pick the pasta dishes, and request your dessert to be unsalted.
