This resort has been our go to every time we're in Miami.
We've stayed here 7 times over the past few years. Our last stay will be our last. This hotel has turned into a HUGE disappointment and we'll never return. I struggle to understand how it could be so bad now. Perhaps, they transferred all their good staff to their new vegas location. I asked several employee's for the name and contact information of their general manager and each and every one refused to share. This resort is porly managed and it starts at the top. WE WILL NOT RETURN!!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE unless you want to hear constant, extremely loud dance club music with air raid sirens all day long. Not only could I not escape it anywhere in the pool area but it was just as loud in my 12th floor ocean view room. You will not enjoy one second of peace and quiet. This is what I would expect on a $199 Carnival cruise full of kids on Spring break but not for the nearly $4,000 this long weekend cost me. I spoke to the hotel manager and she basically shrugged and said it's a nightclub/dayclub environment. Nowhere on the website is that disclosed. She said she could move me to another room but A) not until my last night here and B) she showed me the room on the map and I don't think it will be any quieter. I repeat, DO NOT STAY HERE.

This post is written to specifically highlight two staff members who went above and beyond during my stay. Rocio cheerfully brought uht me a cup of ice so I could make iced coffee. After the first morning, she asked if I wanted the same thing again and proceeded to bring it to me the following two mornings. Benjamin served our group with enthusiasm, a smile and a willingness to get us whatever we needed to make our friend's surprise retirement gathering a success. From bringing extra chairs and drinks to finding pillows to put under our friend's k we, he served us with such attention.

There's nothing like spending 500 bucks on a room then going to the bar where there is no seat available. Ordering a drink and taking it to the bar lounge where there's at least ten tables open on a Thursday night. And being told by the waitress you have to leave because you didn't order the drink from her. I think I will stay at the W next time I come to Miami. What a disappointment. I was so disgusted I went to bed and I won't be back. Kind of a humiliating Expierence.
Be the first to ReplyAwful.
I arrived at 11Am. They gave me a room over looking a roof surrounded by walls. I had absolutely no view. My safety deposit did not work I called 3 times at 4:20 where still not here. The room smelled like cigarette. When I told them that, they said somebody must be smoking in the balcony. As you can see there was no balcony.
Be the first to ReplyWe checked in last night and are staying for four days.
We had a great experience - The last time we were here, however, this time, we have no hot water in our room. Guest services sent a gentleman to check out the situation. He concurred that there was no hot water, and he was going to let his manager know. Eight hours later, we came back to the room after a day at the pool, there is still no hot water. My husband called guest services and spoke to a manager and she said sorry, but we don't have any other rooms available tonight. Not a fan of cold showers, but we had dinner reservations in Miami and both had to take cold showers. Very disappointed. He tried calling her again before we left, to no avail. She was nowhere to be found. I will post an update tomorrow.

Just stayed here for my husbands 40th and had a wonderful experience, with minor hiccups. Check in was easy and super helpful, as Alejandro was professional, courteous, and warm. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff greeting arrivals were excellent. We had a balcony room facing the ocean and that in itself was worth every penny. What a view! The room was spacious and comfortable and provided plenty of hangers for the closet (which sometimes doesn't happen at other places) so this was appreciated. The bed was so comfortable. The hotel is very clean which is a must. We stayed over a holiday weekend so the hotel was very busy. Ate lunch at Cote - delicious, and lots of fun. The downside is that it's difficult to get chairs by the pool unless you go down early. That was a little frustrating. I really appreciated the checkpoints to get into the pool area as it is for hotel guests only. Overall we loved our stay and will be back very soon!
Be the first to ReplyIf I could give this place 0 stars I could.
I came in Easter weekend and the rooms were marketed as 575 but with all the hidden charges our bill came out to 720 a night... for a run of the mill two queen bed room. The hotel is old, the rooms are small and worst of all, staff is incredibly unhelpful and judgmental. I asked for a hairbrush and was told to go to the closest CVS to buy one. I asked for an iPhone charger where I was told to buy one from the hotel for $30. The phone line to concierge is also very old and hard to hear so staff started getting annoyed with me when I asked them to repeat what they said. Oh and also I bought a small bottle of Gatorade from the cafe in the Fountainbleau and it cost me $9 when this thing usually retails for $2. This place is a complete ripoff in all aspects and I suspect they must be bribing people to retain their 5 star status. Calling this place a 5-star hotel is doing a great disservice to all the actual 5-star hotels in the world who care about their customers.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worst hotels that I have stayed out.
Rooms are not nice, showers don't get hot water, takes 2 hours to get car from valet, food and beverages are extremely over priced and they pressure you to tip above 20% because they share the tips?

This is a beautiful iconic hotel with a great location on the beach not far from South Beach. It was well-maintained, and there was good service and contrary to other reviews I've read, the elevators worked beautifully, and the service is generally very good.I won't go back and only gave it four out of five stars because I paid $750 for my room and they refused to provide me coffee. Any crummy motel will provide coffee and this hotel refused saying that it did not come with my room. That is insulting and outrageous and every morning we had to go down 10 stories & walk to a coffee shop and get coffee and bring it back up to the room. Outrageous.

My wife and I and two kids, 13 and 9, stayed there last weekend for a quick get away for my wifes birthday. Recommended by a friend who stayed there a few years back.Hotel is not a family friendly stay. At over $400 a night, the rooms were extremely tight. at least The location is nice and beach front is very nice but you get zero amenities at that price point per night.First mention, the hotel was extremely loud, i mean jet engine loud. We were told its because of a restaurant in the middle of the lobby. next morning, We decided to have breakfast; and the amount of people walking around was like penn station in manhattan. We had the buffet, kids did not like the waffles, i had a fruit and chicken sausageno eggs cause it was a huge line, with a cup of coffee. our bill: $177, for breakfast for four. that was a jaw dropping event for my wofe and i. afterwards we decided to goto the poolside where We ordered a margarita and a vodka tonic at the pool.about the parking, it is a jungle. the amount of cars and waiting is crazy. You drop your car off on one side of the hotel and pick it up at another. Not to mention they charge you $55 for valet. All in all, we left a day early, this is not a family friendly hotel. Very tiny rooms, super expensive everything, and they banged us for $100 for leaving early even after we voiced our complaints. They don't care. Our total bill for two nights: over $1,600, for a buffet breakfast, for four and a margarita and a vodka tonic and valet parking. Please do yourself a favor and stay away. So many better alternatives

CAUTION! Over-rated, expensive, and poor service! We had an absolutely terrible experience at Fontainebleau Miami Beach this weekend. Despite being a "5-star" and very pricy hotel, I could not believe the poor service we received. The main issue is our toilet flooded the room in the middle of the night and we had to be evacuated to another room! We had called maintenance twice about the toilet not flushing properly before this happened and they said it was "fixed." Then we wake up in the middle of the night with flooding all over from the same toilet! This flooding affect 4 floors below us, too! We were awoken in the middle of the night by security guards who then had us evacuate. A manager never called or talked to us. The security guards were nice but this didn't seem to be part of their job description! We waited over an hour to be relocated into another room. My roommates shoes, clothes, and laptop computer were all on the floor and got soaked! We were never offered any refund or consolidation. We had to beg for free breakfast, at least. This was given to us, but again, only after we insisted. Again, this was all taken care of by the security guards and no night manager or anyone from management ever contacted us to apologize or let us know what would be done. We were told we could check out at 1pm (late checkout) from our new room. However, the next morning, another guest was given a key to our room and came in!!! So unprofessional. We had to explain that we were not checked out yet and there had been a mistake. Then, we went to check out and asked to speak to a manager. She was very curt with us and did not offer any solutions. We asked for our stay to be reimbursed and she said that the free breakfast was basically all we were getting.... We asked if they could at least reimburse 1 night of our stay, since we we were woken up in the middle of the night, our stuff was damaged, and we had to change rooms. She said no, they couldn't do that.I can't believe this is supposed to be 5-star treatment ?Eventually we spoke to another manager who said they will reimburse 1 night. But this was a whole fiasco and we will definitely never stay here again. You would get better treatment at a Motel 6. Also- the hotel breakfast buffet is $39 per person, but after adding tax and a $14 service charge, it ended up being $100 for 2 people for a buffet breakfast. Insane!

I paid over $1,000/night for a room and it was an absolutely awful experience. I complained to the Concierge desk 3 times, made over 5 calls to them and NEVER received a call back. I am a woman, and I guarantee if I were a man who drive a nice car or had a suit on, I would have received a call back. This place is atrocious!! I will NEVER stay here again, or recommend it to anyone. There are many options in Miami to stay, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. They don't take care of their guests and it is very obvious, especially as a woman. I am furious I gave them any of my money. That's all this hotel and their "Concierge" service cares about. The folks at the desk claim "They can only do so much without a manager" What a joke!! I was told i would receive a call THREE times and I never did. Not to mention we didn't have towels in our room when we arrived (which I had to call 3 times for). And our cable on the TV didn't work, which they didn't take any accountability for because it was a "network issue". The absolute worst customer service in all of Miami.
Be the first to ReplyFontainebleau is sadly a shell of its former grandeur.
A very poorly maintained, poorly run shell.Fontainebleau restaurants usually close early and room service also has limited availability. The food is overpriced and not worth that price. Seafood is not fresh and most servers are snobbish. It seems they only focus on their alcoholic drinks and not on any real dining. Upon arriving at 2 pm the restaurants were closed and room service was closed as well. You could only get alcoholic drinks and snacks at the pool. When I called for room service during their oddly small windows of time, they were out of most things on the menu and quoted wait times of 45 to 90 minutes. The room was poorly maintained and poorly cleaned. One phone did not work. The other was covered in what looked like vomit and the volume could not be adjusted, so the hotel worker and I could not hear each other. There was spilled coffee on the desk and wastebasket. Towels and linens were worn, some with stains and holes. The shower was covered in mold and had a rusted showerhead and light fixture. Not to mention in order to access the shower, you have to close the bathroom door and leave the shower door open unless you like intense saunas while showering. The toilet only flushed by holding the handle down for 30 seconds which resulted in dirty toilet water being splashed in your face.Staff friendliness and helpfulness was hit or miss, but moreso a miss. The concierge and front desk were rarely available. Actually, every morning there were collections of Door Dash orders gathered at the concierge and front desks because hotel staff were either not present or unwilling to let guests know their items arrived. You would think, given the lacking onsite food and convenience on site, the hotel would embrace Door Dash given most of the hotel staff do not seem concerned about providing any service.Justin at the pool and Corrine at La Cote were very nice. Arkadia Grill staff were nice. La Vida/Blade staff are snotty and usually closed early or refused entry. Lapis Salon had non-working foot baths and the nail tech was snobby when told the water was not bubbling, snapping that she did not know what "bubbling" is.The pool area is nice, but there is nowhere to sit other than $300+ rentable beach chairs, beach beds, and cabanas. I would honestly be willing to pay for these, but the chairs are rusted and worn, and most people throw trash on the day beds. There was a 21+ only pool area that was never open. The pools were not very clean. They serve overpriced drinks and little food. Pools close at sunset, which is not useful to those there for a conference.I understand the pandemic has wreaked havoc on hotels, especially with staff shortages. But the problems with the Fontainebleau can be fixed with basic maintenance, cleaning, and organization. If you can't staff 10 restaurants, close some of them and put your energy into making one or two restaurants good experiences for guests throughout the day. Rust and mold can be removed with basic cleaning products with regular detailed cleanings. Stained, torn and worn linens need to be tossed. If you will not offer room service at decent hours, partner with Door Dash to make deliveries 24/7. Keep the 21+ pool open late, especially for conferences and those working late.Truly disappointing experience.
Be the first to ReplyIf you are going because you see the 3 amazing pools?
If you are going because you see the 3 amazing pools? Forget it, only one is ever open with tons of people. I do not mind spending money for good food but with the 3 restaurants I visited, the food tasted like pre fabricated food. Room service good, was the worst I have ever had. It was $52 for a burnt cookie, a grilled cheese that the cheese was not melted. And tomato bisque that tasted like it came out of the can. The main bar is not worth it either. Every drink is at least $30 and you only get half of a regular drink. I had to come here for a conference but I would never recommend it for someone to vacation here. If you want two queen beds in your room, they charge an additional $30 and do not even tell you about this fee. It's under certain initial that you have to look for in your bed. With all that being said, I did think there a little ice cream/dessert shop was amazing. But that was it for any recommendations I have for the location.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre at best.
Monstrous sized property (akin to a LV) with non-existent service, crappy food, and overpriced everything. Very little amenities. Not luxurious at all for the $700+ pricing per night... stay elsewhere.Your service is terrible. Call center in India. Called for housekeeping service... Four hours later NOTHING!Bar at pool charges 20% automatic gratuity... for NOTHING.
Be the first to ReplyPossibly the worst luxury hotel that I have ever stayed in.
My company booked bulk rooms for an event and payed for rooms for extra nights so that our employees from the West Coast taking the red eye could sleep in when they check in. This was the recommendation of their reservation specialist. When we got in, no rooms were ready, the check in lines were so long and the front desk was losing patience with the guests, there's clearly a disconnect between the reservation coordinators, management and the front desk. It appears that they overbook and oversell the rooms and they give it away if you don't check in on a night that you paid for if your flight was late etc. The rooms themselves were mediocre. There is no coffeemaker, they will charge you if you use the fridge to store drinks, the air conditioning old and not cool enough. The hotel is pretty large and the staff is not very helpful if you ask for directions and there's no one to help. There is no 24 hour concierge if you need help or are checking in late. The lobby bar gets super crowded and the night life is great. Overall poor and lackluster experience. Also look for hidden charges on your hotel bill. Will not be coming back.
Be the first to ReplyThe rooms are in decent shape for a 70 year old property.
Other than that, the hotel is pretty awful. Think of this is as a low-mid-to-bottom-tier Vegas resort (eg Mirage) charging Wynn-level prices because its on the beach. The service is abysmal, its over-crowded and, even as someone who stays at nice hotels often, was shocked by the price for some items. Beachside and pool-side service is overwhelmed, taking 90+ minutes for simple items to be delivered to chairs. However, perhaps the most egregious service issue is the fact they have outsourced their entire phone operation to a call center in India. The people answering the phones have no hotel knowledge and no practical ability to transfer you to someone at the resort. Want towel? The operator will put in a request. Have to talk to the front desk? You'll need to go downstairs. I was locked out of my room and they told me to go stand in line for assistance. It's absolutely insane.
Be the first to ReplyIt's actually amazing to see the poor reviews of this place.
I'm not going to rehash all the complaints. However, note that in the replies from management that they always apologize, but how many times did they offer to provide a tangible refund or additional amenities? The answer is zero... they *could* make things right and have happy customers, but they are not in the business of hospitality; they simply want to overcharge you.My clients and I recently had the misfortune of staying at this hotel, and our experience can only be described as a complete and utter disaster.Upon checking into our tower, we were informed that there was no water. Yes, you read that correctly - no water. This is a basic necessity that every hotel should provide, yet the Fontainebleau failed to do so. We were left with no choice but to wait for the issue to be resolved, which took an unacceptable amount of time. But the issues didn't stop there. The WiFi investment at this hotel is quite possibly the worst I've seen in my 20 years of travel. It was slow, unreliable, and often didn't work at all. This is completely unacceptable in this day and age when reliable WiFi is a basic expectation of every traveler. As if these issues weren't bad enough, we also had the displeasure of dealing with a manager who lacked basic customer service skills. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with our room and the lack of water and WiFi, the manager offered to move us to a worse room, but would not change the rate to match the room. Can you believe it? He was willing to charge us more for a better room, but when we asked for the advertised rate for a worse room, he refused, saying he "didn't want to." This is outrageous and shows a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. In conclusion, I urge all travelers to avoid the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami at all costs. It is clear that this establishment lacks even the most basic amenities and customer service skills. Do not waste your time or money on this disgraceful hotel.
Be the first to ReplyCool venue with good food, classic Miami.
Really enjoyed the chance to catch some sun in February. If there was one bad element it was that checking in and out was a bit of a chore, as was the elevator, as the place has grown and grown and unfortunately one of the elevators was out. The mix of conference, and holiday, business meetings and wealth was a wild mix of people. Just needed roaming characters :). I had a great time, a little trapped to the venue not that that mattered much.
