I have never wanted to give more than five stars as much as
I have never wanted to give more than five stars as much as I do now. It even made me wonder if all my other 5 star reviews are fair if this place is a 5 star. This place is an absolute gem and I'm trying to plan my next visit here in the limited time I have during my vacation. I was blown away by everything here. We got the four course option... expecting four items but were shocked to be presented with more than double of what we were expecting. Everything was phenomenal. At this point, I feel like I'm speaking jibberish because I'm so excited about writing this review. It was 85 AUD PP which is an absolute steal for the quality and quantity of the food. Please check this out and you won't regret it (everything in my photos below are from the "four course" option... yes, they gave us four desserts).Courses/dishes:Oysters - deliciousPickled mussels - SO GOOD. Wow... Kingfish - amazingSteak tartare - delicious Burrata curds - THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MEAL. WHO KNEW BURRATA CURDS WOULD STEAL THE SHOW! Every bite was so delicious... Chicken - I don't eat duck so they were kind enough to replace the duck with some delicious chicken. Dessert - wow... four different desserts. I discovered comte cheese for the first time here... life changed.

Nice place which we found hard to fault going on our lunch stop here yesterday. ย We liked the space and we loved the very professional food and service. ย My meat was cooked beautifully. ย The place seems underrated and likely to become more popular in time.

It is part of the Con Christopolous empire (like the City Wine Shop, Neapoli, The European). It is upstairs from the wine bar Kirk's and it is just a little bit more fancy. It is a great place for dinner (and they do lunch too). As a pescatarin I found there were plenty of options. Vegetarians would probably be fine as well, though more limited, and a few of the vegie sides had meat in them (bacon etc). On my last visit I had a beautiful dish of smoked salmon, avocado with lightly fried crumpets, followed by a perfectly cooked John Dory with roasted cauliflower. I would say the food is French bistro-style but also very Melbourne. Judging by the winter menu it is also seasonal, so I look forward to trying a different menu at another time. It is well-staffed, always easy to catch someone's eye and food appears promptly but with good spacing between courses. The wine, of course, is delicious, it is on the pricey side but the wines are excellent, better than many places who have adopted the high prices for wine without actually having wine worthy of the price. It seems good for smallish groups and couples, it was very busy but not too noisy when I went on a Friday night.
