Excellent food and ambiance.
José M's service and friendliness was above and beyond! Definitely worth checking out.

McKenna treated us like family! Our service and food was delectable, and I love Gabbis from the bottom of my heart. EASILY, the best restaurant in the Orange circle and when I come back, we're coming for McKenna!!!!! She was so lovely, attentive and funny. We will be back!

Pains me to write this review because this has always been my go-to restaurant when in the area. In the past, had office and business lunches here for years. Anyhow, dined at Gabbi's Wednesday with my mom. She doesn't drink and I was driving so we only ordered food. My enchiladas de camarón were pretty good so no complaints there. My mom didn't really care for her tacos de alambre though - very little meat. Restaurant has an urban vibe. Place is dark and decor is very nice. Customer service isn't the same, it really lacked. Our server never checked on us. I waved him down to ask for the check and he walked up to another employee afterwards and had the longest conversation - laughing and just "not working." When I finally get the check my mom comments on the tacos not being what they used to and lack of meat his response was what upset me. He looked at her, laughed and walked away to have another conversation with another employee. Not cool! For an "okay" experience I will not make an effort to return, plenty of new places I'd like to try.
Be the first to ReplyIt was my first time at Gabbi's.
I dined here for Mother's Day so I was able to enjoy items from their special brunch menu. Gabbi's is not a very big restaurant, but it does have indoor and outdoor seating which is always nice. It has a very urban Mexican vibe and music playing in the background. It is a bit dark inside but nothing a little phone light can't fix when looking at the menu. The server was very friendly and efficient. She made a few recommendations which we appreciated as we were first timers. We started with the Mole Tostaditas - omg these were so good. They were flavorful and the shredded chicken was juicy and tender. I tried the Chilequiles from the brunch menu. I skipped the meat and opted for an extra egg which is served sunny side up. The green sauce had only a tiny kick and was delicious. It was a large serving making it a perfect dish to share (but I didn't lol). The other person in my parry had the enchiladas de camarones which he said was very very good - lots of succulent shrimp. For dessert, we had their version of a Tres Leches. It wasn't what I expected. It didn't have the yummy moist and milky texture I love. But it was still very tasty. Oh and it was blueberry lemon - my favorite combo!!! I look forward to returning to try their tacos and arrachera (which I kept staring at over at the next table ).

One of my favs!! Must try if you are looking for a crafty mexican restaurant with various (but not too many) options, this is your place. Customer service - excellent Ambiance - bring an authentic vibe with a traditional flare. Romantic vibe for sure.

Had some chips and salsa to start. Chips were warm and had a nice crisp. The salsa had a nice spicy kick to it. I Ordered the enchiladas de camarón and they did not disappoint. The shrimp were a good size and the sauce was tasty. Service was great. We received our food pretty quick and the waitress checked in often. The restaurant is cute, the decor is nice and staff was friendly. I'd definitely come back and try something else on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyOne of our favorite places to dine at in downtown Orange.
Pretty hard to get into because they're always packed but so worth it! Great margaritas, great ambiance, and great food. We love the Mole and tacos.
Be the first to ReplyFood poisoning with the empanadas.
The place was nice. The service was good. I just can't see going back when I nearly died. Everyone else in my party were fine. I guess the empanadas weren't the best choice. Oh well, live and learn.
Be the first to ReplySo disappointing and over rated.
The ambiance is very nice and relaxing but the food and drinks were not right. The tomatillo salsa on the enchiladas suizas was incredibly bitter--I couldn't eat it. I'm a solid eater so when I can't get through a plate, there's a problem. I also love Paloma's and they made the worst Paloma I've ever had- it was waaaay too sweet and hardly had any liquor. I did not want to be rude and complain to the server but I almost wanted to go back in that kitchen and bar and say what the heck are y'all doing?! Anyway I just overpaid for a meal that I hated. I don't want to hate this place but Gabbi's needs to reevaluate the quality of food and drinks they are serving.
Be the first to ReplyCute place.
Fiancé and I came here for a late dinner. Was taken care of by Isabelle who was super nice and accommodating. I attempted to make a drink in my head that I eventually ordered and m didn't quite come out the way I visioned. Isabelle noticed I wasn't enjoying it very much, so she asked more about my attempted drink and went out of her way to ask the bartender to change it up a bit. Food was delicious. Ordered the mole chicken tinga appetizer, let's just say it was on the more sweater side of our liking, but still tasteful. I ordered the enchiladas suizas and fiancé ordered the carne asada plate.

Margaritas are top-notch. Nice people. Service is a little relaxed-pace at times, but this isn't the kind of place you want to rush. The interior's really welcoming and the street invites a little shopping before or after.

I am so late on writing this review, but let me say that this was a highlight of our eating on our trip to SoCal! My husband and I were visiting Anaheim in October last year and were craving some good Mexican food one night. We tried visiting 2 other places but we could tell from entering that the service was lacking. Boy am I glad we did not go to those restaurants because we would have missed out on the gem that Gabbi's is! I was having allergies that night and we were originally going to be sat near the street, but once my husband expressed this, they gladly moved us to a seating area inside. I appreciated that! We got the best waiter, Horacio! He was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and really helped to make our experience a great one! We got chips and salsa initially, of course (we're Texans and this is just par for the course lol) and that was delicious. The salsa was fresh and in our top 5 of best salsas we've had at a restaurant. The chips were perfectly salted, beautiful, and delicious! Our meals were great and we devoured them! I had the pollo tacos on corn tortillas (nix the queso fresco due to a dairy allergy) and my husband had the enchiladas de camarones and ate it quickly. We'd gotten there toward the end of the night and the service didn't suffer from that fact. If we lived in SoCal, we'd have come back repeatedly! Thank you, Horacio, and thank you Gabbi's for an excellent meal and experience! :)

Prices are a bit much for what you get and its near the circle, and we live near, so we really dont get there because of parking and crowds, Blue Agave is a better choice.
Be the first to ReplyCool ambiance but group tables are tight.
Can't weak charging for chips and salsa. In house made tortillas are great and cocktails are best in the circle. Fancy Mexican bs traditional family style around the corner. Fun date night

We had an unexpected experience celebrating my birthday, the "Cellar" the service, food and ambiance were awesome! It's nice having a private party in that cozy cellar, I plan to do it again!
Be the first to ReplyI had lunch here today with my mom, while visiting OC.
I hadn't been here in about 10 years and it was just as good as I remember. Besides the food being delicious (mole enchiladas yummmm) I want to highlight the impeccable service we experienced from McKenna. Not only was the actual service wonderful, but she was absolutely a delight; so friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and taken care of. This reminded me of the old days when going to a restaurant was a pleasure and an experience. The level of service has declined across-the-board at most restaurants, retail, cafes etc , so this was a very much appreciated experience that actually made me want to come back. It is obvious that McKenna loves what she does and will make an amazing manager, and perhaps future owner of her own restaurant. Thank you for the awesome service! See you next time :)

I had dinner here with my family for my moms birthday and it was delicious! Made reservations ahead of time since it was Easter but it wasn't bad at all. Our waiter was nice as well. I think it might be a Oaxaca restaurant simple because they offered Oaxaca cheese and mezcal and not a lot of restaurants offer either of those. For appetizers we had queso fundido and guacamole which were both good. I preferred the queso fundido and im not a big fan of cheese but it was the best cheese I've ever had. My gorditas were delicious, they were pork so they tasted like Al pastor and had pineapple in them as well. Definitely going to be returning soon

Be the first to ReplyLove this place while visiting Orange.
Went twice and really enjoyed the food and interesting people.
Be the first to ReplyPlace has gone down hill in the last couple years.
Come in on a Monday night with tables open and they tell us an hour wait drinks are alright but for $15 they should be. Sorry Gabbi's we'll be going to Tempo instead now.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Ambiance.
Nice date spot. The food is not what you'd expect as "Mexican". It's a Latin fusion vibe that is gourmet. Great drinks. Just an overall enjoyable place to dine.
Be the first to ReplyOur last visit was on Sat, February 25th.
We ended up here as a last-minute destination. We had eaten here a few times before. Goos was okay, I was expecting more from a Michelin Star Restaurant. Food is original and well crafted together. However, in my personal opinion, just not Michelin. The cocktail menu on the table is clearly old and had a few rips on it, subpar of Michelin or high-end restaurant. Service good however also subpar of high-end. On particular recollection of our lunch was, I ordered the appetizer Taco de Papa (potatoes) and I pronounced it 100% correctly, the also Spanish speakers server correct me and asked me if I "wanted the potatoes tacos". I was a bit sarcastic when I replied, "NO, I want the Tacos de papa advertised on the menu" (the may be actually be taquitos). Cute place and ambiance for dates and cocktails are good and some original cocktails. I always appreciate that in nicer bars/restaurants. Overall, a FOUR STAR review is well worth my personal opinion. Definitely overpaid for the experience. However, this is not a review based on cost. Anyone dining at a high-end restaurant is expected to pay a higher bill, I'm just not 100% convinced my experience was worth the total amount paid.
