Disappointed with the 2 extra "service charges" for "benefits" and just "service" I guess? Guess it's hard to make money at $94 per plate.

I have never eaten such good hummus! Everything was sooo good! Great combination of flavors and very vegetarian friendly. Service was quick and kind. Not crowded, well lit place. Recommend! The 94/person is definitely worth the variety and amount of food!

Treated myself to a solo date and it was my first Michelin restaurant experience! Highly recommend! The ambience is sophisticated and clean. Staff was so kind and attentive. They offer kitchen counter seating so you have the view of all the action in the kitchen. Counter seating is great for solo dates. To drink, I got the pomegranate soda (spirit free) which was tasty and refreshing. For $94, you get a 4 course meal that will leave you fully satisfied. And they give you a complimentary sesame chocolate chip cookie at the end of your meal! My choices were: 1) Tehina hummus with included salatim 2) Carrots 3) Walleye 4) Phyllo pie Everything I chose was phenomenal - especially the phyllo pie! Overall great experience :)
Be the first to ReplyI've been a long time fan of Galit and have dined here
I've been a long time fan of Galit and have dined here several times in the last few years. The food is always amazing and the ambiance is always welcoming and friendly! When booking reservations through Resy, the restaurant requires a $25 deposit per person to cover for no-shows. This fee is supposed to go towards your bill, but the last two times I've dined here in the last 3 months, the wait staff has forgotten to take the $100 deposit off my bill. Both times we've had to remind the waiter and make them run a new bill for us, which has been disappointing. I'm concerned this is happening to others, and they're not aware that they're paying extra! I'd hate to ever questions the integrity at Galit, but I feel like they need to be better about this given most of the reservations are made with a deposit. If you're new to dining at Galit, don't forget to double check your final bill!

I couldn't add all the photos because there was so much food! Went with 6 people and the portions were incredible! We all shared and it was more a family style meal. You are able to pick a few different items and the more people you go with the more things you are able to try! The hummus was by far my favorite and I would go back for just this! The ambiance seemed a little simple for a michelin star restaurant, but you can definitely see the difference in the quality of the ingredients they use!
Be the first to ReplyFood was delicious, came out hot and fresh.
Went there on a Thursday and had their holiday pre course. Served was knowledgeable and went through the menu thoroughly.

We ate here for dinner during a work trip, and the ambiance was great for a casual team bonding. So much flavor and quality packed in small plates. My favorites were the creamy hummus and the falafel.

We came here for an early dinner on Saturday night, reserved a table for two on Resy with a $50 fee (which goes to the cost of your bill) to prevent no shows, and had a lovely date night dinner at this cozy, romantic restaurant in Lincoln Park. If you would like to dine with less noise, recommend you come in earlier, although by 6-6:30pm the restaurant was completely full. The food came out at a good pace, and we were at the restaurant from 5pm-6:30pm. Our waiter was excellent, and I enjoyed watching the extremely efficient service of the waiters that only brought out your food and described them along with the waiters that cared for the diners. My water never got below half full and our wine glasses stayed full. The kitchen is fully visible if you like to watch the service. The tasting menu has refreshingly good portions, but the price may seem high but it's also for the experience, ambience and the opportunity to try excellent food. Our favorite dishes included the Iraqi Kubbeh Halab, Lobster and Phyllo Pie. For my husband and I, it was our first Michelin star restaurant experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Be ready to pay a relatively high price, $94 per person for the tasting menu, in addition to any price of alcohol, and automatic 20% service charge and 3% for employee benefits contribution.
Be the first to ReplyOver the last few years, I've probably had my worst Chicago
Over the last few years, I've probably had my worst Chicago dining experience yet at Galit. While some dishes were great (would recommend the masabacha and lobster), I was dissatisfied with the service and condescending attitude, in particular. 1. Although I was seated promptly, it took 15-20 minutes until my server came over. I was genuinely wondering whether they remembered to assign me a server. I understand that weekend nights are busy, but customers should not have to wait that long for service to start, especially at a restaurant of this standard 2. I personally disliked the sunchokes dish and could barely touch it, as I felt that the sauce had an overpowering bitter, almost "woody" taste of sorts. I let the team know but was essentially told that my palate was not sophisticated enough to enjoy it 3. After the meal ended, I asked the hostess if I could directly leave feedback. She made a face and looked irritated that I had requested to do so; this was evidently very disrespectful to me. While she ultimately directed me to the manager, he too brushed off my concerns. Apart from simple platitudes thanking me for the feedback, they were not apologetic and did not offer anything to rectify the situation 4. The manager eventually reached out over email the following day, but I felt this was too little, too late. You can write that you value my honest feedback, but my time at the restaurant did not reflect this at all. It's telling that they said we are on the "same page in terms of our expectations" but never owned up to not fulfilling them in the first place Considering all of Galit's accolades and otherwise stellar reviews, I was highly disappointed in the overall experience. Hope nobody else goes through the same experience I did!

My family and I stopped in here on a Friday night for dinner. We were seated right away and took a look at the menu options. Since the entire tables does the pre fixe, it was pretty easy to pick. We also decided to do the wine pairing as well. We did the Tehina and Masabacha to start, Meze selections were sunchokes, kubbeh, and parsnips, and Main selections were pastrami and mushroom schnitzel. The food great and the flavors were really unique. Though it adds a bit to the price, the wine tasting was definitely worth it. Ambiance is nice. Very modern and bright inside. It's a little noisy inside, so not a place for quiet conversation. Service was pretty good too. Everyone was very friendly and attentive throughout the night. We did have a few pacing issues, where our wine came well before the course or vice versa, but aside from that, we enjoyed! Overall, Galit is a really nice place for a celebration. It's extremely expensive and I will say I expected a bit more service wise from a Michelin Star. That aside, It's well worth a stop in!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for my birthday and absolutely loved it! Amazing
Came here for my birthday and absolutely loved it! Amazing service and food! The ambience also feels very intimate which makes perfect for a date night! Chicago has a variety of Michelin restaurants to explore but loved all the vegetarian options that galit offers. If you are big into wine, I definitely recommend doing the wine pairing! A few of the wines they have for the tasting are only ones you can have at Galit and were some of my favorites! My husband tried the kessel run and saz arak cocktail and loved both as well! We loved the Masabacha hummus. It was creamy and was perfect with the pita. The falafel was phenomenal. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with delicious flavor! The carrots had so much flavor to it we were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked them! I'm usually not a big fan of grape leaves but surprisingly really enjoyed these. The butternut squash and saffron labneh was so flavorful! The mushroom schnitzel was also really good and very filling with the black eyed peas and kale. It has a slight sourness to it but goes very well with the meaty texture of the mushroom. The chocolate cake was SO GOOD and one of the best desserts I've had! Honestly can't believe I forgot to take a picture of it! Coffee, hazelnuts, and cardamom all in one... YUM! Wish this was an item do not share! :) Would definitely come back!
Be the first to ReplyHere's what you need to know: we had a lovely prix fixe
Here's what you need to know: we had a lovely prix fixe dinner on a Saturday evening at Galit, but it didn't blow me away. I would definitely recommend it to friends, but it will be a while before I go back if the only option is prix fixe dining. I would love an a-la-crate option as after tasting the entire menu, I would like to focus on just a few items. In fact, if I only ate those particular items last night, I would give this restaurant 6 stars. Ambiance is excellent with the open kitchen and bright energy of the restaurant space. Portion sizes are massive for the prix fixe menu. It's a LOT of foodnamely those items are falafel and carrots from the mezze platter, walleye and lamb kebab el babor from the mains, and chocolate cream pie with caramelized banana from dessert. The mezze and mains were the best expression of these popular middle eastern dishes I've ever had. The rest of the menu was enjoyable too, but ultimately unmemorable. The coal fired flavor is always delightful.Service was just OK, and felt a little mechanical and rushed. It was forced smiles and lacked warmth or charm, which one would expect from a top level restaurant.

It's been since pre-COVID that we've visited Galit and can only say it's only improved since then. We loved the pre-fix menu and did family style with our guests. There were so many stand-outs but to call the best ones out:- Brisket hummus: this is by far the best hummus I've ever had. Smooth and delicious with the perfectly cooked pita. - Carrots: full of flavor and had the crunch that we like in roasted vegetables. - Pastrami: The top stand-out! A unique smokey taste that made this dish shine. - Chocolate cake: perfect amount of sweetness to end the dinner. We love the ambiance. We were lucky to get a seat in the back which provided enough quiet space but not feel like we weee missing out in the lively vibe at the front of the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the money.
Way over hyped. Service was so so. Bread was the best part. Enough said.

I was so excited to try Galit that I decided to host my 30th birthday dinner here. I reserved a table of 5 on a Saturday at 5pm weeks in advance. When the date approached, 4 of my friends decided to come into town to celebrate. I reached out to Galit to see if they would be able to accommodate the additional 4 guests making it a party of 9. The day before the reservation, Friday at 1pm, Josh from Galit replied saying "we do have space to increase your party size to 9 guests. The availability is at our high-top table, which we typically leave open as a communal table for walk-ins, however the table seats 9 so you would have it all to yourselves. For a party of 9 we do require a deposit of $565 to hold the table, and a food and beverage minimum of $1,125." I told him that this was great and I was happy to put down the deposit. When reviewing that contract, it was actually a minimum of $1,583 which included an administration fee and an employee insurance contribution fee. At a pre fix menu of $84pp it would be awfully difficult to hit that total. $1,583/9= $175.89pp. When I called the restaurant I spoke to Hannah who had a terrible, belittling demeanor and did not want to help from the jump. She asked me if I wanted to cancel my reservation of 5 but it would result in a $25pp cancelation fee. Really??? I asked if we could come at opening to secure the "communal table used for walk ins" and she told me its possible but not confirmed. We arrived at the restaurant at 4:50pm, 10 min before opening. When we walked in there was a line of 8 employees and I asked to speak to Josh or Hannah. Hannah denied that there was ever a communal table reserved for walk ins and denied telling me that we can come at opening to try to secure that table. Again her tone was argumentative, brash and uppity. From someone who has been in this industry for 10 years, I am so turned off from this customer service. I'm not sure if they thought we were young or wouldn't tip 20% or if it was a stubborn power trip but if your party is bigger than 6 I say avoid these weasels at all cost.

Come with an empty stomach! (Trust me in this) a wonderful tasting menu concept and do the wine pairings! Everything was wonderful and my server and the service from the greeting to the coat check was amazing! Loved it all!!!
Be the first to ReplyTruly excellent.
Very creative menu with great flavors. Skilled and very welcoming staff. Good drinks and wine list. Very nice environment. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyOverall, disappointed in this Michelin starred restaurant.
The hummus apps were great and so was the pita but the entrees fell way short. The lobster was just okay. It was two bites of lobster. The lamb was not good, nor did we care for the pastrami. I didn't eat the smoked Turkey but my family said that was the best entree out of the items we got. 4 people and two bottles of wine cost almost $800. The waitress never once asked how our food tasted. She was great at pouring wine, but overall not a good experience. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyWe made a reservation for a midweek dinner.
When we arrived, the place was already packed. We got seated right away and received outstanding service. We made reservations for the kitchen counter. I'm not sure if there was any dining tables available as an option when I booked my reservation. The kitchen counter was cool, because you can see how the kitchen operates throughout your meal. It's a Four course meal, and they start you off with your choice of Hummus and serve you their Salatim with your hummus order. We ordered their Bubbe's Brisket hummus. It came with tomatoes and braised carrots and the brisket pieces were tasty. It was served with two pieces of freshly baked pita and should be enjoyed with their Salatim. All this was honestly quite filling and a perfect way to start a lovely dinner. The Second course was their Mezze. My wife ordered their Carrots and I ordered their Foie Gras Torchon. The carrots came with a cuminy-orange glaze, Bulgarian feta, and hazelnut duqqa. This was really delicious. It was light, but very flavorful. My Foie Gras Torchon was a little bit on the heavier side but just as delicious. It was served with Thomcord grapes, orchid root, and tehina all on a toasty challah. The server described it as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, it's really the only way to describe this. Definitely did not expect these flavors out of this dish, very unique and tasty. The Third course was ther Over Coal. The main entree course. I ordered their Lamb Kebab el Babor. It was served with donko shitakes. I'm not a mushroom guy, but these were good. The dish was ok, the lamb was very flavorful, but the overall dish was a tad bit too salty for me. My wife ordered their Pastrami. It was served with urfa Caesar, radicchio, and malawach. This dish was amazing. The pastrami was cooked perfectly and had a nice smoky flavor to it. The meat itself was delicious, but when you eat it with the rest of the items on the plate, you get some very explosive flavors. You scratch your head a bit when you see pastrami on the menu at a Mediterranean restaurant, but this dish right here is a must order. Our Fourth course was their desert. We ordered their Parsnip Cake. This was a perfect way to end our dinner. It came with a Yemen-spiced buttercream, coffee and brown butter. The cake was good on its own, but you really have to have a little bit of everything to truly enjoy this desert. Overall, I was left very impressed with Galit. It definitely surpassed my expectations. Michelin rated restaurants can honestly be a let down sometimes, but not Galit. I can see myself returning here.

It's pretty expensive and only have a few items to choose from but the food was amazing. Every dish was crave-worthy.
Be the first to ReplyGalit was a great experience.
First, the service is amazing -- as it should be for a place with a Michelin star. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. I like how you make all your decisions at the beginning of the meal about what you're going to eat and they space it out perfectly. No rushing to finish one plate to get to another. I also love that the kitchen is open to the restaurant. I was mesmerized watching the kitchen work. I think we made some mistakes in our ordering but that's okay -- that's on us! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Galit but I'm not sure if I would return. I'm not sure if my meal wowed me to the point where I would spend that much again on it (although in the whole scheme of things-- Galit is fairly priced!).
