Just an ok experience
Very small place so reservations are a must. The bar area gets very busy on a Friday night. The do have a happy hour and fun cocktail’s. Good sake selection and a few wines. Different types of sushi which was nice and the presentation is very nice. It is a bit on the pricey side. I will say for sushi and the service in the beginning was good when we were there at first was fantastic but then it became very slow as it didn’t seem they had enough staff. Great personalities for the server, but not the fastest because it became busy. Place is not too difficult to find it’s downstairs so you have steps you have to go down and it is dark in there Parking is on the street or you can go to the paid parking lot which is a couple blocks down. Not sure it’s a place I will go back for sushi again it was just OK.
Be the first to Replystuffy, no air circulation and mediocre food selections
After reading a review of Ginko and the mention of directly importing fish from overseas we were anticipating an above average meal: however, I wouldn’t say we were disappointed but at the same time, not overly enthused and ultimately learned that products are sourced at local wholesale providers conflicting prior information that indicated they personally had products directly delivered via air. The sushi was just average at best, the environment was stuffy with very little air flow due to the underground location and it was very hot, needed AC or outside air exchange of some sort. On the service end, I’ll give it a 6.5, somewhat slow and not paying attention to beverage refills, we had to ask someone other than our server, Nick, for refills. Drinks/wine = expensive with average pricing on popular rolls, some selections on the menu at a extremely high price point. We are pleased that we at least made the visit, however, we will not be returning. Some of the best sushi we’ve experience is at Pacific East in Cleveland Heights.

We all ordered the $120 5-course Omakase. We also added the day’s special of Aji - whole fish served as sashimi, then the bones deep fried to crunchy, served with green tea salt for dipping. Also added a salmon skin roll to try. One ordered the Geisha Delight cocktail and The others had green tea with brown rice. The first course was a platter of 3 amuse-bouches: daikon and radish pickles , mountain vegetables and Waygu beef. For the second course, our server Leah was very nice to get us three different appetizers to try: tuna and avocado poke, salmon tartare and miso black cod. The cod was particularly good. Third course is 5 pieces of sashimi, including amaebi (sweet shrimp) with the head deep fried after we ate the body, again served with green tea salt for dipping. The otoro (fatty tuna belly) was excellent. Next come five pieces of nigiri sushi. The scallop with uni (sea urchin) was particularly good. The last course was dessert, and again Leah was very nice to get us three different desserts to try: cheese cake with strawberry sorbet, chocolate purin (battered fried banana over sesame ice cream and sesame mousse), and green tea ice cream. There are only two tables; the rest of the seating is around the bar. Reservation is a must. Service was excellent.

This is by far the BEST sushi we have had. Beyond fresh. Beautifully prepared . The staff are so friendly we cannot wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyBest Sushi With Cool Vibe
In the basement of Dante - with a large sushi bar dominating the well decorated room with a Cool Vibe is served the best Sushi in Cleveland. Very fresh - melts in your mouth. Always seems busy - make a reservation. Unlike other sushi places that usually serve quickly - servoce can take a while as everything is freshly made. But worth the wait as everything we tried was outstanding!
Be the first to ReplyGreat little restaurant!
Great food, awesome service and very nice ambiance. The restaurant is pretty small, but very well designed with glass/water bar going around.

I have written reviews every year or so and I bring my family here 3-4 times a year. This is without question the best sushi you will find..... I would suggest reservations at least a week in advance but we walked in at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and got 4 seats at the sushi bar immediately. The decor is beautiful and bright. The highlight of my meal was the whole mackerel and the uni on top of a scallop. My wife loves the super fatty tuna. The quality of the food and experience is outstanding.
Be the first to ReplySushi doesn't get better than this....
I usually don't review restaurants in my home town because I don't want to show any bias vs an out of town traveler but I can't help myself. My wife and I have had fresh fish and sushi all over the world and decided to try Ginko for our anniversary. We knew it had a good reputation but were both blown away from the experience. The atmosphere is loud, small and trendy. The service was hosted by Helen and a fellow server...in fact they served the whole restaurant. The regular menu is stacked with fresh fish and sushi but the specials were also amazing. The Sake selections were also excellent. Come during Happy Hour and try 2 oz samples from a great variety of Sake types. ...and yes their pastry chef makes desserts that are over the edge as well. This is indeed our #1 Sushi dining experience ...anywhere.

I think those living in Northeast Ohio already know that Ginko is truly several grades above otherwise very good/excellent sushi bars. The sushi and preparation at Ginko is exceptional. World travelers will appreciate how this meal is as great as any other superb sushi restaurant. The fish is brought in daily from different purveyors around the world. I prefer ordering the chefs choice meals (either the Omakase Tasting or Otsukuri Omskase). Last night we tried the scallops served on Pringle’s (we ate them before I could snap a picture). The whole mackerel is wonderful if you have company to share. If your budget allows, ask your waiter or waitress about the special fish choices not on the menu. All the wait staff know the menu and can be very helpful. The super fatty tuna is worth trying, even if it is only one piece. The restaurant is located below ground level. The dynamic small space is highlighted by a very colorful blown red glass wall (and in a cellphone signal free building). There is bar seating for about 20, and 3 tables that seat 4, so reservations are required. I have eaten sushi in at least 30 cities including NY, LA, Chicago, Honolulu, Las Vegas and SF. This is the best.

The food is delicious at Ginko but what I really appreciate is the attention to detail. I stopped eating sushi due to a shellfish allergy. After a few dicey experiences, I became skeptical about sushi restaurants. However, I've always felt that the folks at Ginko pay attention to allergy issues and this is much appreciated. I really love the oysters three ways. I'd recommend giving them a try. Service is always great.
