Probably the best Indian food I've ever had! The staff
Probably the best Indian food I've ever had! The staff welcomed me in & brought out a pitcher of water. It turned out it was spiced, which was fun.I started with the Curry Leaves Flattened Rice Kichadi, which was a fragrant pressed rice dish. It was dotted with roasted peanuts, curry leaves, diced red onion, peppercorns, and full of spices. It was soooo good, it came with this nice yogurt-y white sauce that helped cool off the spice from the chiles. It had a good texture with the crunch of the peanuts & the soft chewiness of the rice. It was super flavorful, I loved every bite of it.Next came the main course, which was the Roti and Mushroom Masala. The Roti was amazing, it had a nice touch exterior but was super thin, soft, and chewy through the middle. It was the perfect medium to get the delicious mushroom-y tomato-y, well spiced Masala into my mouth! The mushrooms were nice & tender, and they were covered in the amazing curry. Fresh cilantro was sprinkled all over. It warmed my soul & my mouth! It had a nice medium level of spice that had me sweating, but not too much. I once again couldn't stop eating until my plate was completely clean! I cooled off with a nice sweet & yogurty mango lassi, which went down quickly. All in all, I can definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a tasty South Indian meal!

Located in one of the side lanes of little India, the Greenleaf cafe is one of the hidden gems of the neighborhood. Serving only vegetarian fare, it offers several items that are not found in your typical Indian restaurant. Examples are millet-based dosas and idlis, adai (lentil based pancake - different from dosa), vadas made from ingredients like spinach, banana flower, carrot, herbal teas and cool drinks like nannari sarbath (made from the root of Indian sarsaparilla) and Kulki sarbath (nannari sarbath with tulsi (holy basil) seeds). The chutneys and sambhar are A-ok!They also have the standard North Indian fare like pulao and paneer dishes for those who want to stay in their comfort zone. Staff is friendly and hospitable, although they draw the line at serving chicken. Take a few minutes to walk down here from Serangoon road. You won't regret it.
