Yes it’s picturesque but min menu 200€ that’s not justifiable
Attended for our 30 wedding anniversary as it was on our bucket list. $1000 Australian dollars later, that hurt butttt I love with memories. Set menu for your budget (laughing) minimum spend 199€ per person. I had scallops for starters was divine then ravioli for entree super rich and overpowering then fish for main was Devine but the size of slice cheese. Then tiramisu amazing. Views were spectacular. Staff were attentive but not friendly and no smiles. There was one waiter in a wool coat who took the order, he acted like he owned the place and seemed to look down on everyone. The young waiters were nice but the female waitress needed some more personality. The hostess was very nice she was the best staff member. It’s a attraction and over exaggeration thanks to social media. Unless you have money to throw away or like me a milestone to celebrate I’m sure the little restaurant on the cliff up the road to this restaurant that has starters for 10£ and mains for 30€ taste just as good and same views. Pricing seriously is over exaggerated it’s no Michelin.
Be the first to ReplyGood experience!!
Defined as one of the ten most beautiful restaurants in the world... the location is actually exclusive, eating in a cave with the view and sound of the sea crashing on the rocks is a unique experience. The guys in the room were good, friendly, welcoming and helpful enough to put us at ease as soon as we sat down. The dinner did not have the same wow effect as the cave entry but the food takes second place compared to the location, even if all in all the chosen route satisfied us, the cellar is well stocked, wines and bubbles for all tastes and budgets , the price is high but I think it's fair for the context, a nice experience... a pleasant evening thanks also to the guys in the room who deserve my applause. Advised.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible
I would have happily paid for a guided tour to admire the cave instead of one Terrible dinner with very poor quality ingredients, combined together in a disgusting way. The partly raw lobster had a very bad smell and the pasta was served to us raw. Four courses, one worse than the other. I only feel sorry for the highly friendly staff. We already imagined the bill to be quite high but I would have simply liked a professionally cooked spaghetti with garlic and oil, we returned home hungry. What a disappointment!!!

splendid location for a romantic weekend. we ate everything fresh and clean. excellent selection of wines and great variety of dishes. a gem to absolutely try
Be the first to ReplyFabulous location, menu to rethink
The location alone is worth the cost. Spectacular, romantic, evocative, unique in the world. The menu is truly disappointing, a gourmet menu with no particular quality and little taste. Worth seeing again. Very kind staff
Be the first to ReplySpectacular
The location is unique... I have had lunch in revolving restaurants on very high towers... among my experiences... I have not been able to find anything more spectacular... high level menu and service...
Be the first to ReplyBrutal overpriced food, a tourist trap for the view
This place is a trap that lures people in with the view. There is a reason you have to pre-pay so much. Even the staff seemed to know this was a disaster, once they dropped off each plate or the wine, you never saw them again. I can imagine they've suffered many angry guests who realize the only reason to be there is the view. This is heartbreaking in a country where the food can be very well done, even simply. Please avoid, it needs new owners!

Grotta Palazzese was the hero restaurant of our trip. We had three couples and booked a table around 3 months in advance. When we got to the restaurant they were accepting walks in but they were the tables towards the back of the cave. We booked a table at 6pm so we could see the full sunset and soak in the ambiance. When we got to the restaurant, seats weren’t exactly allocated so I asked the staff if we could sit at the top with the water view, they swapped our table over (if you don’t ask you don’t get right)… arguably we had the best table at the restaurant. I had watched Tik Tok reviews prior to coming to the restaurant and thank god we did as men had to wear pants and closed in shoes (in 40 degree heat). There was reviews about the food being very expensive and not worth the money, I noticed that people saying this were ordering the gold menu. We decided to go with the first, cheapest option and was surprised with the amount of food we received, everything was really yummy. The restaurant catered for dairy and gluten free as well so we even got extra allocations. We shared a few bottles of rosè and red, it went really well with the food. Later in the evening a saxophone player came around and played happy birthday for me which was a really lovely touch. We could have stayed there all night watching the sunset, you can’t get a better view and ambiance - overall recommendation is 1. book and advance and ask where to be seated 2. Book around 6pm so you see the full sunset over your seating timeframe 3. Order the cheapest menu option and you won’t be disappointed.

The best setting, beautiful views. Normal food High price for what it is, there are thousands of restaurants in Italy, but of course without that view not that location
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting but the food/service don’t make it worth it
Dining on the edge of a cave is truly magnificent! The musician(s) they had also really made it a really romantic place to celebrate a special event like a honeymoon or anniversary. However, most of the staff weren’t particularly warm and the food was pretty awful. Seafood dishes were so fishy (which made me wonder if it was frozen) and the pasta wasn’t al dente but was still uncooked as it almost cracked my tooth when I bit into it. I barely touch any of the dishes I ordered. It’s such a shame as it is such a beautiful setting and would have been worth every penny of our very high bill if the service and food were better.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful view but terrible experience.
Booked this place in advance to have a special dinner and was very disappointed. The waitstaff was rude to a point of discomfort. The food was decent but not worth the $300 price for 3 course option (the most basic choice). Overdone entree. Didn’t even have soap in the bathroom. Tables next to us were having a similar experience and we both waited an hour without getting a server when it was time to pay the bill. Gave a star for the view but that is about it.

I’ve had this restaurant on my bucket list for sometime and let’s just say it was totally not worth it. The setting YES is beautiful but it stops there. Food and service is below average and certainly not worth €200 per head minimum spend!! We also had our 4 year old daughter with us which they made us pay €100 min spend for a 3 course meal. There are so many great restaurants all throughout Polignano- so don’t bother. It’s true - it’s just a tourist trap! Our bill came to over €500 for 2 adults and 1 child - that not including drinks The waiters don’t listen and don’t care - I felt very much a number. A different type of experience but we had a better meal at Pescaria for €50!
Be the first to ReplyRudest Employees & They try to scam
My sister who visited the restaurant last Tuesday with her friend. My sister and her friend had a good time in your restaurant before they got on a plane to Paris. But an unpleasant situation happened when they paid the bill. My sister was told that the credit card transmission terminal wasn't working, she had to pay with cash. The bill was 400 euro for two people, and it was the last itinerary in Italy before they head back to Korea. How many travelers have the big different currency right before going back to their home country? Of course my sister didn't have cash. But the employees in the restaurant pushed my sister to get cash from the ATM. But the ATM doesn't work with Korean Mastercard. She asked the employees to pay at the hotel front desk, but they said 'No'. My sister also told them to copy their passport and credit card, and she will send the money as soon as they can. But the employees said 'No'. Few different options my sister and her friends suggested to them, however they said 'No' and kept holding my sister and her friend. They only need cash. The flight time is getting closer and closer. Finally my sister complained that if they missed the flight, because of that, then they would have to pay back the $5000 flight tickets. Then the employees copied my sister and her friend's passport and their credit card and let them go. As soon as my sister and her friend left the hotel to the airport, she got a text message that your restaurant charged the bill. During the whole time in the restaurant, the employees' behavior was unpleasantly rude to them. It was not my sister's fault, but you guys kept holding my sister for ridiculous reasons. It was nonsense the only one credit card transmission terminal was working at five stars hotel & restaurant. The hotel and restaurant should be ashamed of being a five star hotel. They literally abused and tried scam the foreign travelers who do you think won't see you again.
Be the first to ReplyRudest italian waiter
I read an article in a magazine about this restaurant and eversince then, I desperately wanted to experience dining there. I arranged a trip from South Africa to Italy and to the most beautiful coastal town of Polignano. Everything was planned to make my wish come true. However - I was met by the rudest italian waiter. He refused us entry to the restaurant on the basis that we are tourists! I explained to him how much it means to me and that I came all the way especially to dine here. I can’t believe the snobbery I was met with!
Be the first to ReplyJust do not.
I’ve never written a TripAdvisor review, but felt like I had to after this terrible meal. I left the whole experience feeling like I’d been robbed. The main dishes were so bad they were inedible. We didn’t have more than one bite. The music was horrendous, with a saxophone player who sounded more like a child at a school recital. The waiters were rude and some of the least charming people I met during our entire trip. I promise you do not want to eat here. Trust the reviews. I didn’t, and I wholeheartedly regret it. This restaurant is borderline fraudulent. Please spend your vacation time and hard-earned money elsewhere. So, so, so bad.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t go here! You’ll be enticed by the Instagram pics and vista! It’s a total rip offf! Don’t be fooled!
So bad! Surly and unfriendly staff that have no interest in your enjoyment! Charge 25€ for a gin and tonic and you don’t even know what gin you are drinking! They plonk it down with no comment or smile. 2 staff approached us within 5 mins of sitting down wanting to take our order! Min charge for a meal is 195€ and they dont give you any insight to the menu! They don’t even serve your wine or even ask you if you’re enjoying your food/evening! You ask for the bill they just throw it down like they want to get rid of you. They’re not interested in your enjoyment or even gaining a tip! We leave the restaurant (obvs not giving a tip) and not one of the many staff even acknowledge you leaving let alone a thank you and a good bye! This was supposed to be a special dinner as it was my husbands birthday and had been postponed after 2 years in the making (covid 🙄). We are accustomed to eating in incredible restaurants around the world and have been to many Michelin starred restaurants that charge less and give a whole lot more!! Don’t be tempted to go here for the views like we were and save yourself a whole lot of money! Ps: the side streets off the hotel are amazing, great food, bars and service and the locals say that all tourists say the same as we do! It’s a tourist trap!

This is a seriously overpriced and underdelivering restaurant.
It was absolutely freezing. We thought that being cold weather this expensive restaurant would at least have some gas heaters to warm things up. But no, no effort was made to warm up the guests.
The food was really hit and miss. Some dishes were nice and tasty, others like the zucchini flowers were heavy and awful, unlike the like tempura batters I am used to in Australia.
When you pay the big dollars, you expect an A-grade result. Ignore the photos of this place, and get your nice coastal photos elsewhere. Not worth it.
Total tourist trap
Stay away. Total tourist trap. The most gorgeous setting in existence where you’ll spend $1000 for what can best be described as Carrabas tried their hardest to do a tasting menu with a wine pairing. We’re not super snooty ppl that put down everything, we’re also people that have no problem dropping $700 on a Michelin Star meal. The food was atrocious, the wine pairings nonsensical, the olive oil rancid.
Honestly the first time in my life I didn’t enjoy bread and olive oil at a restaurant. The first time in Italy that I didn’t enjoy the pasta. Literally turned to my wife and said, after 3 years of living in Europe that was the first restaurant that broke my heart. Just a soulless capitalist money grab.
Only time in my life I’ve stopped a tasting menu half way through and said I do not even want to continue. The food and wine were literal trash. Went down the street and had some of the best pasta dishes in my life at Osteria Piga for €10.
Please, please, please save your money, ignore the Instagram posts and avoid this restaurant at all costs. It’s the Olive Garden in a cave….and honestly that’s an insult to the Olive Garden that they don’t deserve. At least the Olive Garden prices accordingly and knows what they are. €800 for two to dine here is laughably embarrassing.
By the way…the place was totally empty for an 8:30pm reservation on a Friday night. That should tell you all you need to know. People have caught on to this scam. Don’t fall victim.
Paradise on earth
We had enyoj very much dinner with my wife. Place is absolutely fabulous.
Food was great and portions bigger than expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. Not to mention the view, which is exceptional.
We are recomending it and would for sure visit it again.
