Great Japanese food
One of the premium Japanese food place to visit. However, the ambience is rather too quite to my liking. Very good service and all food presented on a beautiful decorated plate. We have surprises from the restaurant to prepare our anniversary with a special music box and special made dessert! Love the thoughtfulness.. However, I felt the sashimi and sushi lack of umm factor ! The Aging of the fish or the sauce applied? Anyway, a great place to spend time with loved ones to celebrate special occasions.

Proper Japanese restaurant for omakase.
Unique experience, no choice but an advantage really as you will discover some flavours still untapped.
Special mention to the cocktails and the sake list … amazing.
Pricy but in line with freshness and precision of all meals.
Still good!
Not been back since they moved. Nice to try their Omakase lunch again. Not as "WOW" as I used to know but service and quality of food are still good. We had SGD 118 and 128 course. Only difference is 128 has more beef while 118 is more seafood. Price of Sake by the bottle is little too steep for my liking. I can only afford the 148++ per bottle. You can easily pick a 300+ bottle if you're not careful. Overall, is a nice place to head over once a while. But the "quiet corner" which I asked for was disappointing. They put us in an enclose area where next table of 4 were seated just next to us. No privacy. . Could have just asked for counter seats.

Try Omakase set. Wagyu really melt in your mouth 😋
First class service
Family of five with three kids, 8/10/13. The youngest is an extremely picky eater. We were welcomed by Justine at the door. She engaged with the children, found out what they would like to eat, spoke to the chef to ensure that the special requests could be met. She then assigned us a private room to make us more comfortable as a family. Her food advice was to the point. The kitchen provided fare that was so good in particular for “simple” dishes (plain Wakame Udon) that they earned a “best lunch ever” rating from our picky eater. The rest of us were equally happy and we are looking forward to a return. As pro: outstanding service by Justine and really good food. A con: the price is high- but very correct for a fine dining.
Be the first to ReplyQuality food but inconsistent service
It was my first time to the restaurant and definitely, I would like to find out more about the quality food which I was enjoying. The service was great and the beef was simply perfect! The birthday surprise was unique as it came with a musical box playing the birthday tune. As I was enjoying the dessert, this waitress removed the musical box without informing (may I ..). I thought she was a little rude as I did not expect such a service in a Japanese restaurant. The same waitress gave us the bill. There was a $50 gift voucher for the next visit. As $50 was a substantial sum and it was my first time to the restaurant, I would like to know more about the dinner menu. The younger waitress was not able to provide information and she has called this waitress (again) for help. This waitress turned out to be the manager.
My dining experience turned to an unpleasant one. She shared that dinner is $180ish plus and $280ish plus without elaboration on the price difference. When I asked further, I felt belittle as she gave a curt response that the price differs cos of quality. I wanted to know about the dishes and mentioned that lunch ... she immediately responded that lunch and dinner is different, curtly before she heard me. I wanted to ask further, she appeared impatient. If she could, she would have rolled eyes.
What's wrong for a customer to find out / know more about the menu? I heard she is the manager, then shouldn't her service be more top-notch than a trainee. What if the food is of quality, would you return to pay for a snobbish service. I did not ask for the $50 voucher... if you give customer, isn't it right for the restaurant to promote your dinner menu to entice customers to return.
The management should look into providing quality service to go along with the quality food. The food has made me a satisfied customer, only to be disgusted by the service provided at the end of my dining experience.
Delightful Omakase Dinner
My first dine-in since restaurants reopened when Singapore moved into Phase 2 of circuit breaker measures. An especially delightful experience since I haven't dined out for such a long time. The 9-course omakase dinner was nothing short of spectacular. Fresh and of superb quality. It's cosy and exclusive ambience also meant we didn't need to jostle with crowds especially during these times. It was a safe and enjoyable night out with my girlfriends. Highly recommended for small celebrations or get-togethers.

Hachi group never disappoints, ever. Yet another wonderful dining experience at Hachi, both my partner and I had such a great time and the entire omakase were full of surprising flavors and textures that keep our palate craves for more.
To start, we were offered an off-menu item, which is raw chilled Nasu(eggplant) with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and konbu tororo. A perfect way to start an 8-course omakase menu, so light and refreshing, and it was a first, having an eggplant prepared this way, but will definitely not be our last, it is so simple yet the taste is so amazing.
Zensai - Marinated spotted prawn on chilled corn velouté
Sweet and crunchy spotted prawns contrasting the silky and creamy corn velouté with pops of flavors from the rest of the components. Feels like a dream on the palate.
Uni - ‘Isobe-age’ of uni sea urchin wrapped in nori seaweed & shiso leaf on edamame puree & hoshi-kaibashira dried scallop sauce.
Umami at its PEAK! Warm buttery smooth uni with the taste of the ocean, and the crunch from the nori with a super light tempura batter. We wish we could have an entire tray of these for the night.🤩
Hirame - Hirame flounder with ankimo monkfish liver.
Great pairing of a very clean yet distinct flavor of hirame and the rich monkfish liver, with the freshness of the salad to cut through the entire dish. Flavors explosion in our mouth with every single bite.
Kani Shinjo - Kani fresh crab dumpling made from zuwaigani snow crab & hotate king scallop, junsai water shield & aodatsu.
One of my all-time favorite at Hachi. Chopsticks tender crab dumpling is all I need to say. Snow crab and king scallop never tasted so good as a dumpling. The only sad thing here is, there is only ONE dumpling in this amazing bowl of goodness! 😂
Sashimi - Kanpachi, Maguro and Madai.
Every dish is like an exquisite art piece, especially our chef's selection of sashimi. Sashimi at Hachi brings raw fish to the next level, each sashimi is carefully selected by the chef, each has its distinct flavors and texture, complimenting each other rather than fighting for our attention. The chef even showed us a unique way of eating the sashimi rather than the usual, with just wasabi and soy sauce. I shall not spoil the surprise for you, make sure you ask the chef about this!
Yakimono
-Charcoal-grilled A5 wagyu beef with yama wasabi & red wine salt.
-Truffle scented misozuke gindara cod fish.
Perfectly crusted wagyu cubes, grilled to perfections. Ever so tender and packed full of flavors. No doubt the wagyu is super amazing, but the entire plates are also filled with a tiny burst of surprises that you can have with the wagyu, that made you realized with the right combinations, it actually elevated the taste of the wagyu to a realm that is so new to us. A very thoughtful way of letting guests experiment with flavors on their own. Love it. 😍
As my partner doesn't take beef, she had the alternative option which is the Truffle Miso Cod, charcoal grilled to perfect nonetheless. Truth be told, although the cod is really really good as well, but I am still biased and will take the wagyu all day, every day.😝
Sushi - Uni, Chutoro, Shiroebi, and Tamago.
Sushi at Hachi just tasted so much better compared to other sushi we have had, apart from the super fresh ingredients from the ocean, we find that the rice had an indescribable taste that tingles with our taste buds, which also pairs. We did not manage to extract any info from the chefs, but you might want to try and see if you have better luck than us. 😅
Dessert - Homemade amazake ice cream with ishikawa ‘ice kakeru’ shoyu syrup, roasted pistachio.
Sweet sake ice cream! Super creamy with bits of roasted pistachio and to top all that goodness, SHOYU Syrup! Yes, Shoyu syrup! Say your goodbyes to salted caramel. It may sound weird but just try it, and you are welcome!😁
Can't wait to be back again.
Snobbish service
The meal was good but for a restuarant of that calibre, good service counts as much as the cuisine . Not only was the service lacking in finesse , it was snobbish and even condescending, The maitre d was positively aloof and self important ..a if he had no need for our business !
For the prices they are charging , there are definitely far better establishments in Singapore where one could enjoy a fine Japanese meal with great service.
Awesome place for business lunch
Awesome place for business lunch. Only have Omakase menu and the lunch is great value @ $118. Really fresh sushi and each course is so enticing and look so attractive.
