Lovely food and service as always
Superb Dimsum as always, the chefs are really artists and so consistent. The fish pot dish was super disappointing, but everything else was superb. What was the stand out was Leonardo’s service. He made us feel so welcome and was super efficient. Not always the case there. All in all excellent Thanks guys
Be the first to ReplyA joke. Absolute rubbish
It’s been a long time since I last visited Hakkasan; definitely more than a decade, and my memory was a positive one. In a world where dining out is akin to navigating a culinary minefield, this time we found ourselves hurdling over obstacles right from the get-go. Our grand entrance was met with a not-so-grand welcome to what can only be described as the Bermuda Triangle of dining tables. Imagine this: a banquette seat strategically positioned to ensure that any occupant would be seated at the farthest edge of the table, as if being punished for some unknown gastronomic transgression. And let's not overlook the delightful prospect of potentially cozying up to neighboring diners thanks to a table setup that could induce unwanted intimacy. This was odd, especially considering the abundance of vacant tables on a Monday night. Despite our reservation made with the anticipation of a royal feast over a month in advance, we were left scratching our heads as to why we were relegated to the gastronomic equivalent of the kiddie table at a family reunion. Could it have been our crime of comfort in donning Vans slip-ons? Or perhaps the establishment's subtle suggestion that dining attire should rival that of Bertie Wooster? Sorry guys, I forgot my frickin’ top hat. After enduring the initial round of "judging a book by its cover" shenanigans, we were graciously rescued from our apartheid exile and relocated to a more acceptable dining table. And thus, our culinary misadventure commenced, with the promise of a chrysanthemum-themed set menu at a not-so-petal-friendly price of £78 per person. Alas, the Dim Sum, touted as the shining star of the evening, arrived with all the grace of an oil spill, leaving us befuddled as to how one could manage to steam something into submission and still end up with an aquatic catastrophe. And the main course? Well, let's just say it was a symphony of sodium, with offerings ranging from over-salted to barely seasoned or just plain bland, leaving our taste buds in a state of existential crisis. But wait, there's more! The service, akin to a well-choreographed dance of confusion, left us yearning for a Rosetta Stone to decipher the staff's attempts at English. And let's not forget the soundtrack of the evening, which seemed better suited to a frat house party than a Michelin-starred eatery. In conclusion, while this dump may have managed to cling onto its Michelin star like a barnacle on a ship, our dining experience left us questioning the very fabric of culinary reality. And don't even get us started on the audacity of that 15% service charge, which felt more like a penalty than a gratuity.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing birthday dinner, food and service were 10/10
I have never had a bad experience at Hakkasan, not once. Hosted a birthday dinner with a couple of friends and we were given the most pleasant customer service. Waiters were attentive and friendly to be big group of 9. Shout out to Carlo (believe he is Italian), who gave great service the entire evening and recommendations. The food was amazing, came out hot and in an orderly fashion. They also were lovely enough to let me bring my own cake for photos with friends. 10/10 all round, Hakkasan always does it for me. Only little thing that can be improved is staff waiting around in bunches when we were taking pictures (around closing time) - was a little awkward.
Be the first to ReplyHakkasan is not what it used to be
As cliche as it sounds, Hakkasan is definitely not what it used to be. We returned to London and to our favourite asian restaurant after a few years only to find that the quality in both food and service went down. Only exceptions were the Iberico, and to some extend the dim sum which was good, but not £42 good. The wine list is outrageously expensive even by London standards. Service is efficient but not up to standard. Also our table was ready 25 minutes late. Very disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service. Mediocre food.
Our server didn't explain the menu to us as other servers were doing for other guests. We asked for tap water rather than bottled. The male server came and just “plonked” it down on the table as if we weren’t even there. No jug just a cheap looking tumbler. No offers of it being replenished either. We ordered the £49 menu. Good selections for starter and main. Beetroot starter looked amazing but tasted bland. There was no taste of the citrus dressing and hardly any beetroot in the salad. The mains were good although the presentation was poor. No one came to ask if the food was ok until we had finished the courses. The server came to tell us that she was bringing desserts and I had to ask what it was as it wasn’t detailed on the menu. The dessert was ok but nothing to write home about. First visit to Hakkasan, somewhere I’d been looking forward to visiting, but definitely won’t be going back. Maybe we had inferior treatment as we ordered a less expensive menu and tap water. I have to agree with recent reviews on here about disinterested poor service.
Be the first to ReplyStill amazing food but not a wonderful experience.
outstanding food as we have had in Miami and Las Vegas. But I ordered a £40 Primitivo and the sommelier brought both that and an £80 bottle. I do not appreciate the attempt to upsell, particularly having had dozens of Primitivo in restaurants in Puglia. And our waitress rushed us to order, reminding us more than once that we had to vacate the table at a specific time.
Be the first to ReplyNice place.
Very good atmosphere, impeccable food, portions are generous. Good to start the evening I loved the music although a little loud for my taste.
Be the first to ReplyUniversally miserable staff
I’ll keep this short. I’ve dined here many times. I visited solo on Friday for lunch. Total bill £260 including drinks. The food was nice but not outstanding. The table service was relatively efficient however it took approx 35 minutes for food to arrive and I was one of the first patrons to arrive. Why are the staff so miserable? Universally so. From the cloak room staff to the waiters (the sommelier managed to crack a smile), their sullen demeanour borders on rude. The cloak room woman / girl couldn’t even muster a “thank you” when handing back my coat and umbrella. Not worth a revisit.
Be the first to ReplySublime !
The food was absolutely amazing; we chose the Plumb Blossom menu along with cocktails rather than wine. They were also delicious. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted exquisite. The waiter was really fantastic and asked when and if we were ready for each course. He was attentive but also aware when we wanted some time. The decor and atmosphere added to the experience.
Be the first to ReplyDEPOSIT !
I had booked the restaurant as it was my sons 21st birthday and its a michelin star restaurant and i found the service and food nothing near to a michelin star restaurant . I had travelled all the way from Sheffield only to be frustrated and terribly disappointed on a good occasion as my sons birthday .The worst experience comes in the last like a cherry on the cake ! . They forgot to take away my deposit from the final price and when i remembered and asked them the next day . They recredited the money but no apology nothing ! . is this a scam that if the customer conveniently forgets about it ! they dont bother . I presume they take deposit from everyone who visits and i presume its a normal thing to take the money out of final bill so how could the waiter forget ? . Secondly the place was so crowded and noisy and the tables next to each other are so nearby and there was a person coughing so much my poor son has ended up with a chest infection now ! I am a health professional dr myself and found this to be a big no no with regards to health and safety . Thirdly the food was very oily and not of michelin standard at all ! I understand it was very busy but then you got to maintain the standards ! You must have heard the adage / NOTHING FAILS LIKE SUCCESS ! . i appreciate you got your michelin star guys and attained success but you got to maintain it . We the customers are your unpaid adverts and people come by word of mouth . I certainly wont be recommending hakkasan to anyone anymore .
Be the first to ReplyFood good but it’s service… oh dear
Maybe my 10th time. Sadly, Hakkasan never recovered from its pre-pandemic self. Food (taste wise) remains good but oh dear, the service is / got so poor. With regards to the food, we did note a couple of shortcuts and post pandemic / inflationary savings but I guess we have to live with that. However, overall, Michelin must have felt the same when revoking its long time one star distinction.
Be the first to ReplyRushed service , wrong food , warm wine , disappointing
We arrive 10 minutes early , hoping to enjoy the bar , but straight to table , where a whirlwind of fast service , Duck salad arrived before wine , Wine came warm for a bottle of rock angel at £90 . Asked if we could have a chilled one , which was met with confusion. Asked if we could simply start again . Take the food back and provide a proper service , and to stop rushing , at the price point the service was to rushed . Wine finally came , chilled so we could start New fresh Duck salad was very good . Soft crab disappointing The special pork very good but small portion The Chilean sea bass , was ordered grilled with broccoli, But it came steamed with soyo , Pointed out it was wrong dish wrong table , But fell upon death ears , at £62 it was very poor , the worst dish of the night . This restaurant seems to have lost it way , can do much better , If the service was not so rushed would have been a better experience, and maybe the orders would find those who actually ordered them
Be the first to ReplyTotally underwhelming for a ‘special Birthday’- won’t be returning ……
Having been to this Hakkasan years ago and the amazing ones in Abu Dhabi & Dubai, this was our first choice to celebrate our daughter’s 21st Birthday lunch as a family. The food was great as always. However, the lack of engagement from our server was so disappointing. No rapport, just indifference. I had called previously to confirm our booking and to ask for it to be noted that it was our daughter’s 21st Birthday celebration so could they please make it special. I was told that we would get a candle with our dessert. I honestly thought that was a joke until we ordered a chocolate bombe and it came out with literally a candle on the side and a chocolate with happy birthday on it. I have never seen anything so bad. Is that all they could do when we had spent almost £600 for 4 of us at lunch (way too much money for what we had btw). I also recorded it being given to be daughter with said server not even looking at her but looking out of the window looking totally bored. So very let down by this restaurant. Very different experience in Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi. perhaps you need to send your staff there for training. we eat out frequently and it's rare for me to give a bad review but this definitely warrants this. There are much better and cheaper restaurants around so don't waste your time and money going here. A very disappointing 21st Birthday experience.
Be the first to ReplyGo to hakkasan if youre looking for anything Else than dissapointment
This spot is Amazing, really delicate food, we ordered the pearl which was perfect, i havent any bad Word to say about the food or service. The service was Amazon as Well, you really feel like a special person, Aziz made sure of that, i would definetly reccomend this place.
Be the first to ReplyNo Rush To Go Back!
Disappointed! Got there and the cloak staff said the kitchen is closing in 15 mins before our reservation had even begun. We were not notified by phone, We felt rushed as soon as we got there. It was one the best hot spots in London 10 years ago. Standards have dropped considerably. All our food came out at the same time. The food was not piping hot and we had to tell the staff to keep it covered. The slot is usually for two hours but we did not feel valued! It’s a real shame and we had finished in 50 minutes. I was celebrating my birthday… No rush to go back!
Be the first to ReplyAlways a good idea
The food and service was great, as usual. We’ve been a few times before to hakkasan and it’s never disappointing. Also great with kids, when you order they give you good advice.
Be the first to ReplyNot told the truth
The food is good, really good, and the feel is premium, which was why I booked it for a team event. But we were hustled off our table. Told that there was another reservation. This was not true. The table was empty 30 mins later, there were no other diners. And yet, We were hastled and harried away. Not a good experience. And after a £2500 bill and over £300 service charge, I really would have expected better treatment. Why did they behave like that? Seems so counterproductive. Such a disappointing conclusion to what should have been a great night. I really felt let down by Hakkasan.
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant poor service
I used to love this restaurant, yet I have not visited for years so decided to go again for lunch with a friend. Same moody, dark space, same particular smell, delicious food and cocktails but the service was rather inadequate. Had to wave at the waiter several times to come, reminded another that they needed to ask us about desserts, the service was very slow and rigid. When the dessert eventually came, I had to stop the waiter from disappearing yet again and asked for a coffee. It took us 2 hours to get through their 3 course Taster menu. They were busy towards the end but not too much, still many tables empty. Will not be back. Pity.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed in Hakassan
I attended Hakassan last night and was far from impressed. To balance this out I have been before and had a great time but standards have clearly dropped. We were served the wrong drinks, had to return my main course which resulted in my partner then eating alone. The attention to detail was definitely lacking. I will not be rushing back…..not worth the money for the service we received. Disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyWhy be in high end customer service then?
Our server Bruna G was excellent! Can’t say the same for her colleagues. We received our mains and dessert by others who quite frankly looked like they didn’t want to be there. They threw the food on the table and got away as quickly as possible without even acknowledging us as diners. Thank goodness for Bruna because I only had a good experience because of her above and beyond level of service.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Visited here for my birthday with my partner and was really disappointed. The food was really poor. I had the satay chicken which looked like a bowl of curry soup with some meat in. Both chicken dishes we ordered were undercooked, very slimey and actually gave my partner an upset stomach all night. For the prices they charge I will definitely not be returning. Such a shame as I’m happy to pay the prices if the food met the expectations, unfortunately it didn’t.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a Top notch chineese restaurant
This restaurant serves the best chineese food in London. We tried other restaurants but the experience at Hakkasan is a complete package, food, service and ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyPoor food, average drinks, thoughtful service - a mixed bag
Unfortunately our visit was very average. The food was plain - and chicken very pink and chewy. We had the San Pei chicken clay pot and the duck, the latter better than the chicken. For how expensive the cocktails are, you could get the same standard from your local pub. The staff were very friendly and welcoming which was the only saving grace when spending that much money. Such a shame. Wouldn’t go back.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive fast food
Not worth the money. Spent GBP 2.500 and the waiter asked us to finish before we had had time for coffees. Choose a small menu!
Be the first to ReplySlow service not sure how this is Michelin star compared to other high end restaurants nearby
Honestly cannot believe how bad the service was, took us nearly an hour to get a drink and for our food order to be taken. The table next to us were also complaining saying they had been waiting over half an hour. I had to ask a couple times before having a waiter to come over. Food was okay Wouldnt say it was anything special, had to spit the octopus out as it was super chewy. Right at the end of our night we then had a lady at the table next to us starting arguing at another table over them apparently accusing her off being a h**ker. She wasnt kicked out and no apologies were given as we had to sit next to her for half hour of her screaming and causing a massive scene. Weather it was true or not the tables are so close together we couldnt even ignore it. We were completely ignored probably because we was young. In comparison to all the other well known places like roka, sexy fish etc. i wouldnt ever come back to hakkasan and regret even choosing that place.
