One of Chinatown's interesting restaurants with a few dishes unique to this shop, including a very nice cheese'n'butter fillet steak and a pretty good laksa. It's a similar menu to what you'll find in most of Chinatown, but it's little personal touches that make this place special. As a regular here, it's the extra effort in the small things, how chewy the noodles are, extra soy for that guy, no bok choy for this guy, give her extra chilli, etc, etc...That's why we like this place - and the fact that there are some interesting specialities of the chef on the menu. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome, this place is like a warm hug after a hard day's work.

Having seen this place open up recently, a group of my associates and I decided to go here for dinner. I kind of regret that decision now. Admittedly they're still VERY new but I was a bit shocked when we asked for cups for our water, we were given plastic ones. Ok, granted, they're still VERY new and haven't had a chance to go out and get some glasses for customers. The downstairs area appears to be quite modern and was recently renovated. The upstairs - I think it still has the same decor from the restaurant that was previously there. But enough about the aesthetics, let's get to the food. The food, I thought was quite bland. One of the dishes we ordered was a pork dish (the actual menu name I didn't catch) but it was predominantly fat that had been smothered in sauce as if to disguise it. The golden prawns dish that we ordered lacked any flavour what-so-ever and the batter that covered it was soggy and fell away completely. It was like they had been heated up in the microwave, put on a plate with some garnish and brought out to us. As far as pricing is concerned, given the quality of the food that was provided to us, I felt that it was largely over priced. Ok, I'm willing to concede that this place has only recently just opened it's doors so it may improve (it couldn't get worse I suppose) but given it's location within Chinatown, you don't have to walk very far for alternatives which is what I imagine a lot of other patrons will be doing after coming here. My suggestion: avoid this place. Maybe give it another month or so and maybe they'll find their niche within Chinatown and they're still around ,then maybe check it out. But be very wary. Personally, I won't be going back when there are better alternatives only a few steps away.
