I think it has to do with taste in pizza and restaurant, but the last time I actually visited there, it was very loud. The cooks kept on yelling "Hey" the whole time. It could be that that's the way they communicate in the kitchen, but it was very obnoxious and it became quite hard to understand what my mom was saying. The pizza tasted delicious and it was very big, but totally covered in grease. Usually when we eat pizza, our hands would be kind of dry and have crumbs from the flour, but at Happy Italy's our hands were greasy and it was very unpleasant. One napkin was barely enough to wipe away all the grease. The server was really busy, so we had to wait half an hour before we could communicate with her, pay and get out. I mean, I understand it gets busy around dinner time, but when we're done eating, we would like to know if we will be helped or not. We asked for the server a couple of times, she just kept on helping other people first. This of course is fine for the first one or two times, but at some point we really were looking forward to getting out. Two weeks ago some friends and I ordered from Happy Italy for the first time. I ordered Prociutto and a tiramisu. The prosciutto was alright. Again it was a very big pizza (which is good!) and it tasted fine. The tiramisu though, did not taste even a little bit like tiramisu. I did not taste any coffee at all. It was just a cup of cream with two soft cookies in there, some tasteless liquid on the bottom and some cacaopowder on the top. Still an enjoyable dessert, but I would scrap the name tiramisu and use another term for whatever I ate that day. As my friends really like Happy Italy still, I decided to give it a total of three stars.
Be the first to ReplyThe environment was good and food is cheap.
But soft drink is expensive. My large Coke costed €3.95, more than half the price of my Carretiera pasta (€7.75). Portion size is decent and well seasoned. However don't expect good service from the restaurant. It's hard to flag down the staff when things aren't good (like missing drinks and didn't take the orders from a few individuals). What irritated me the most is that they don't accept cash (only debit or credit cards are accepted). Moreover, the restaurant gave us a hard time to pay bills individually. How is it difficult to "go Dutch" for a restaurant in the Netherlands?!

Casual dining combined with fast food is the definition of Happy Italy. Their food is cheap and you get lots of it. It does not mean that their service and quality is any less! We got a few appetizers - smoked salmon, mozerella, and mixed meats. All were excellent and came with a healthy sampling of salad! I even ordered a smoked salmon salad and there was a ton of salmon with that as well! If you're looking for healthy, cheap, large portions then you have come to the right place. I would come back again here.

we experienced great and fast service; which is unusual for Dutch restaurants. our waiter was awesome and knowledgable. we found the menu; food and pricing very adequate. and yes; this place is BIG for dutch standards as well but does not give you the crowdy feel of some La Place's. one of the very few places that offers doggy bags. the Dutch consider doggy bags 'not done'; I fail to see why. if you paid for your food and like it; why not take it home if the portion is a little too big? we; a party of 6; had a great time recommended!
Be the first to ReplyFriendly people, excellent food and more than fair prices.
Be the first to ReplyThe portion is quite big compare to its price.
However, they don't have the drink menu, so I was a bit confuse about what kind of drinks I should order. In the end I ordered a cup of coffee. However, the place is quite cozy for a restaurant in the neighborhood so I recommend you to drop a visit to this restaurant. Usually this place is crowded on the weekends so I suggest to come here on weekdays. Also, they don't accept cash payment (which is a pity) so make sure you bring your debit card.

Ok. this place is big! very casual, nicely decorated, good location, reasonably fast service and accessible for a small budget with a big appetite. The food is good, probably not the best of the Italian cuisine, but their flavors are very decent for an unbeatable price, the portions are impossibly big!, so you can go home with a doggy bag , they even ask if you wish to do that before they pick up your still full plate. The place is crowded during the weekends and families go there because they also have a kids corner with toys and games. I would say that this is a good upgrade to a fast food restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyThis place isn't making me feel very happy at all.
The girl rolled her eyes when I told her I wanted a liter of water instead of a 0.2l tiny bottle, then she told us she could only take one PIN card for our table of 6. For the country that invented "going Dutch," I think this is an awesome policy. Also, their lights keep flickering, which is incredibly annoying, so find a seat away from the windows (where the flickering industrial lights are). The food is pretty average, corporate Italian food. Portions are pretty large, though. I guess if you're starving near Enschede's train station and don't have much money, this is a good bet. Otherwise, try Vapiano instead. Also, what's with the sexy girl on all the signage and menus? Are you selling lingerie or pasta?!
