This very cool upscale eatery on Greenwich Ave (towards the bottom of the Avenue) has an interesting green style ambiance that is noticeable and striking. The velvet booths and wood tables work well with the Latin fusion themed wall art. I'm a fan. Serving Sunday brunch, my party of six ordered the Sweet Pea Guacamole and the Sweet Potatoes both hits and gobbled up immediately. We each had a cocktail and my Classic margarita was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their various cocktails as well. Our mains varied, but the Crispy Bbq Pork, and Crispy Gulf Flounder tacos, and the chicken soup received rave reviews. The tacos only come in two so you might want to order an appetizer to share or a side salad. Dessert was delicious as we enjoyed chocolate mousse and apple cranberry tart. The service was friendly and attentive. It's a pricey place but the brunch is worth it for a large gathering or a comfy conversation for two.
Be the first to ReplySorry but one of my least favorites in town.
Opened with a splash and the name seems to bring them back but not on my dance card. Twice was enough. Limited and uninteresting menu. Should I try again, maybe as I could have hit a rough patch, but there are so many reliably great alternatives within a stones throw.
Be the first to ReplyGinger Margarita was excellent.
Fried calamari was very well made. The tacos were a disappointment. I found the taste too salty. Overall I would return because the service, drinks and ambiance were great.

imagine being seated at 7 and told that they need your table by 8. Feels like being back in the Army, except now I paid 200$ for the rudeness of an over hyped establishment. The worse part is that after telling the manager, he didnt even offer an apology. The subpar staff and service is NOT overcompensated by the food.

What a beautiful restaurant on Greenwich Ave! So far I think this restaurant has the best vibe out of the ones I've visited so far on the Avenue. They have a great menu and really professional servers. Favorites included the Cuban and the croquette appetizer. The pear and cranberry crumble was such a cozy dessert! I'll definitely be keeping this spot in mind for future Greenwich visits!

Had heard about this place and was so happy to finally check it out! We made a reservation for brunch. We got seated right away in a very comfortable booth. To start we had the tortillas with the three salsas. For my entree I had the eggs Benedict. My friends ordered the warm mushroom salad and the burger. We all enjoyed our meals! Two of us were too full for dessert but the other ordered the chocolate mousse. Bonus points: it's vegan! The service was great and would definitely be back. One thing to note: not sure if it was a special day for them or not but they had a photographer snapping photos of random tables. Greenwich elites?

Happy Monkey tries REALLY hard to be a modern fine dining establishment along the likes of what you'd find in New York/LA/Chicago. Unfortunately they fail to come anywhere close to that level of service & food quality. But, if you've never left the suburbs and family restaurants are all you've ever been to, you'll probably be bowled over by what you see because...you haven't seen much.
Be the first to ReplyUnique fusion restaurant on Greenwich Ave.
Loved the cocktail menu and found it to be very creative. The Concord grape margarita was tasty and a flavor I've never seen on menus before. The smaller plates were more seafood forward so I didn't try a ton, but the manchego bites were pretty good and the eggplant fritters were decent. We tried several tacos, which were definitely my favorite part. The steak was so juicy, and the pork taco had this spicy salsa that gave it some heat. The tres leches cake and churros were also a hit, though the apple crisp had an off flavor to me. Service was attentive and helpful. Restaurant was well decorated and pretty lively for a Wednesday evening. A nice stop if you're looking for something different

Sleek, sexy & Tropical channeling Indochine not what you'd expect in Greenwich. Jean George has created a great dining destination in Connecticut where local bounty abounds. Ate: Corn focaccia Grilled mitakes in a Chile vinaigrette Flounder tacos Spanish wine Total: $72/ with tip Everything was tip top from decor to food to wine & service m. A delightful lunch in downtown Greenwich.

Excellent!! Sweet potatoes and fish tacos were amazing!! Drinks were fabulous and vibe was super fun. Service was also very very impressive.

The only thing that bothered me was that our waiter suggested a tequila but probably should have mentioned that it would cost $40/drink. It seems that this is something that should be disclosed, even if it is listed on the menu. Food delicious but this felt a little underhanded.UPDATE: My husband got food poisoning we think from the fish tacos. Mentioned to a friend and she told me she also knows someone who got food poisoning at Happy Monkey. Thinking I'm not returning.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience, we've been here twice so far.
Had various tacos, salads, the beef tenderloin (OUTSTANDING), and the churros. Have to say, literally everything we've eaten here has been fresh and delicious and expertly prepared. We went at 6:30 to beat the rush as this joint is very popular. The service has been very friendly and attentive. The decor is a lot of fun, love the plants hanging from the ceiling, the large bamboo pendant lamps and the comfy banquets in the back near the large painting.

Awesome place to go if you're looking for a unique experience, tequila selection is top notch , and drinks are high quality. As for the food Jean George standard great balance and great flavor. One word hidden gem.

Start to finish. Tuesday live music 6:00 - 9:00 was a perfect addition. Foods we ordered off the charts amazing. Can't wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyOur Greenwich friends invited us during our visit up north
Our Greenwich friends invited us during our visit up north to Happy Monkey and the expectations ran high. We arrived on time for our reservation and we're promptly seated at a table in the middle of the very noisy restaurant. Being hearing impaired I asked for an empty table of 4 in the rear of the restaurant. We were told that it was reserved for a large party and the host pushed two tables together only to separate them 10 minutes later to seat two parties of two and four. Being new to the restaurant we were informed by our haughty waitress, Dakota, that dishes are served family style and are meant to be shared. Portions were so small that only a family of two could possibly share any dish. We started with an order of sizzling shrimp and grilled octopus and ordered later focaccia to soak up the olive oil. Our ordered bottle of wine appeared wrong when we were done with our first course. It took considerable time to replace it with our original selection and by then we have almost finished our shaved beef and crispy BBQ pork tacos of nondescript flavor and taste. Next the arroz con pollo arrived lukewarm at our table and was very bland. The food certainly did not live up to the hype of a Jean-Georges establishment and any Latin abuela would be ashamed to serve a similar meal. Asked about our experience my friend commented to Dakota that the rice was lukewarm. Without any further ado and comment she summoned the restaurant manager who offered to take the dish off the bill. My friend made it clear that he just voiced a response and was not looking for any reduction. There was ample but uncoordinated wait staff. I certainly would recommend visiting an authentic Latin restaurant instead of this gentrified Greenwich eatery if your longing is for good Latin American food.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a nice and fancy place in the Greenwich area.
We were here visiting the Apple Store for some service and stopped by at this place for a drink while I wait my turn at the store. I ordered a beer, guacamole with chips and a sangria for my wife. The staff were very friendly and helped us understand what we order very clearly. The food menu was crafted not to just look like any American menu. They had 3 flavors in the guac and I ordered the one topped with pistachios. Splendid in the mouth! The place is a bit pricey, as I suppose all the other restaurants in the area might charge the same too. I'd definitely stop by if I'm visiting Greenwich again.
Be the first to ReplyService was great, starters were very good.
The Arroz Con Pollo was amazing. On the contrary, I ordered 2 bbq pork tacos and 1 fish taco, but I received 2 fish and 1 bbq pork taco. Not what I ordered. Also, the tortillas in the tacos, were cold, soggy, and flimsy. I would suggest toasting them before serving. My taco filling fell right into my lap, and on the plate and found myself eating it like a salad.

Meh.It's a modern place, with attentive personal, decent presentation, expensive and very very mediocre foodI just could not stomach almost diners quality of food. Our party of four had four appetizers and four main ones, none were worth to remember They were not bad, but below average - sea bass, serloin or tuna tartare. So sad
Be the first to ReplyI met a friend for dinner here this week.
The food was mediocre - not nearly as impressive as other Jean Georges restaurants I have visited in the past. I am willing to spend the money if the food is fabulous, but $30 for two small lobster tacos that didn't wow me was disappointing!
