I've been to Hathorne several times before for dinner, but
I've been to Hathorne several times before for dinner, but this was my first time for brunch, and it lived up to its dinner standards! The service was prompt, attentive, and helpful - especially the waiter's knowledge on gluten-free options. I started brunch with a delicious, gin-based cocktail that was absolutely stunning to look at. Then, I had a French Omelette (with added cheese of course) and Frites on the side. As you can see in the photo, the frites are not typical - more like circular potato wedges, but they were both crispy and creamy inside and the aioli really made them pop. I only wish the side salad had a little dressing on it! The vibes in Hathorne are always immaculate - love the refurbished pews as seats and the bar is beautifully arranged. Can't wait to come back!

Crazy good!!! From the moment we first walked in it was awesome. Went Sunday after church and we were starving. The host and server is a family member of the owner. What pride and hospitality!! Wife had the cheese grits and pork belly. She said it was sublime. Crust on the cheese grits....yum!!! I had the breakfast sandwich on brioche bun with bacon. Bacon was baked and unreal, brioche bun was soft and tasty, eggs with havarti were simply amazing love this place and service. Dinner menu looks eclectic and wonderful!! Can not say enough about out service and quality of the food. We will be back and bring friends.

It's a lovely place we were introduced to by an old family friend. You need to make reservations but it's worth it. The ambience is pleasing to the eye and has a French country feel. The staff are lovely and all engaged to make sure their customers are comfortable and have a good experience. Now for the food...they change with seasons and are creations of the chefs. We were there the first week of November 2023. The menu was inspired by dishes that are familiar to us but with a twist of flavors from different cultures around the world.....Japanese, French, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Polish, and Iranian were just the ones we experienced. The portions were generous, and the presentation were well displayed but not pretentious. The condiments that went along with the small plates were equally thought out that complemented all their respective dishes. It's all in the details and it showed. Of note, I don't care for aioli. I find aioli preparations to be poorly made, but the turmeric herb salt aioli was addictive with the frites. I won't talk about the dishes as it would be an experience I do not wish to take away from yours or have expectations that may be perceived differently. Try it out, but remember the menu changes and if there may have been a miss for you this time or earlier, go again, it worth it!!!

Hathorne was such a fresh and flavorful menu! They had vegan options too! The vibe is so fun being built in an old church. The mashed sweet potatoes with the chicken schnitzel were some of the best I have ever had!

Tasty appetizers and desserts and lovely staff who made sure we had a great night! The Agnolotti was easily my favorite bite of the night - really well made pasta with a light but flavorful cream sauce that allowed the butternut squash to shine through. The Focaccia and fall salad were also yummy. I had the steak for dinner, which was good but nothing special, especially compared to the other courses we had. It did have an interesting miso sauce though, which was a cool flavor and helped elevate the dish. The beignets were light and fluffy and the chocolate torte was to die for. We will definitely be back and enjoyed our meal here last weekend!

I live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try Hathorne for years. I was so excited to see they have brunch now! We went on Saturday and it was amazing. Our waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating, and even comped our biscuits because she felt like they took way too long to arrive. My friends and I were deep in conversation and honestly didn't notice but we were so impressed by their commitment to excellent service. Everything we got was delicious and I'm already planning to go back in a few weeks for brunch!
Be the first to ReplyWe had a lovely time here.
We arrived early for our reservation yet got seated immediately anyway. We were casually asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. Upon answering yes, we were brought champagne. Incredible service! The old church that this restaurant is housed in is picturesque. We had the focaccia, summer salad, chicken schnitzel, pork, pomme frites, and two cocktails. All of the dishes were delicious. Plus there were things on the menu that we'd go back and try. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. 10/10.

The best hash I have ever had with the braised pork on the new brunch menu!! The egg sandwich was excellent!!
Be the first to ReplyUpdate: we went back now that there's a new chef and WOW.
There is a huge improvement in food flavor. A group of four of us shared the focaccia with ricotta (this was a dream bread!), crudo, golden beets, fish entree and chicken schnitzel. We loved all of the dishes. I'm not a huge fan of beets and still recognized that this was a fantastic dish. The focaccia came out warm and bouncy. The perfect loaf of bread with a ricotta spread that was perfectly fresh and flavorful. The crudo was one of my favorite dishes. It reminded me of the fresh citrusy flavors of a perfect Peruvian ceviche but with a tiny kick. Fantastic. The fish entree was fresh and delicious and the chicken schnitzel with side salad was also a hit. We ordered a dessert of ice cream cake and that was also great. Hazelnut, marshmallow fluff, between layers of regular cake and ice cream. All in all I was impressed at how much the restaurant has improved. We'll be back soon!

Great service! Beautiful restaurant. Don't miss it!

It was my second time there. The menu is very vegetarian friendly. We shared the salad, the angolotti and the bread to a start. I like my portion of the pasta so much I ended up ordering it as my main course. The restaurant was pretty empty but it was Wednesday night. It's a great spot for a nice dinner.

Hathorne is one of our favorite places to eat when in town. It's the whole package, the food, the atmosphere, the desserts and drinks. Highly recommend!!!!
Be the first to ReplyHad a really nice lunch here.
Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Lunch and dinner menus are limited to under 15 items. We both had the smash burger, which included 2 smashed patties, special sauce, bacon, pickles, and lettuce. It was a really tasty burger, but could have used an accompaniment or a side. I added a small salad for $3. Great list of cocktails and wines, with some nice wines by the glass, including a Ken Wright Pinot Noir. We will definitely return for lunch or dinner.

Dinner at Hathorne is always a treat. It's become our go-to restaurant for celebrating events. The menu changes frequently to take advantage of the freshest, local ingredients. I haven't found a dish I didn't like. The service is professional and prompt without being overbearing. If the weather is good, we prefer the patio as a general rule everywhere, but the ambience inside Hathorne is warm, welcoming and not so loud you can't hear your table's conversation unlike many other unnamed restaurants. Prices are reasonable for such a high quality evening.

I'm a burger hound and have searched far and wide for the best burger. Hathorne's wagyu burger is one of the 3 best burgers I've ever had. As good as Au Cheval, The Loyalist, Tripp, Everton Royce, Cassell's, Niku, etc. Come here on a Tuesday and get it.

Cocktails, food, and service are all phenomenal! Tonight's dinner included a lovely selection from the small plate side- goat cheese (perfect with a cocktail), followed by the winter greens (recommended by Sydney our server, and a great suggestion!) along with the agnolotti which was a fun treat. We ended with the gnocchi and really loved the pairing of the venison and pomegranate. A really beautiful space and a caring owner, GM that pays attention to the details to make it a memorable dining experience.

We went for happy hour and had a wonderful time! It is a short happy hour, but plenty of time to have a great cocktail and bites. The bartender was attentive, even when it got busier. All our food was amazing! We had the spicy chicken bites, fondue, warm olives and agnolotti - there is not a dish I wouldn't order again. We will be back for sure!

Went to Hathorne this evening with friends and was very impressed. Food, drinks, service and ambiance were all on point. Our server was Ethan and the recommendations provided were excellent. The dry aged steak was incredible and the beet dish was perfect! Will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyThe focaccia and bok choy were great but the entree options
The focaccia and bok choy were great but the entree options were the worst I've ever seen. All of them were super weird and out there. There was cured duck egg and rabbit sausage with rabbit broth. We got the red fish. The seasoning on the red fish was terrible. The potatoes that came with it were even worse. It's way too expensive to have such a bad dish. They are trying to be cute and have creative dishes on the menu but they don't taste good at all.
Be the first to ReplyWe had such a great time at Hathorne on burger night.
Everything we ordered was fantastic, even the burger!! Ethan was the best. We can't wait to come back
Be the first to ReplyOrdered take away one night with a bunch of friends.
We got a ton of stuff. The bread and ricotta, fried goat cheese, scallop tortellini, fried Brussels, the beets, frites and chicken snitzel. Things were hit or miss. The good: fried goat cheese. Crunch and gooey. The Brussels a little bit of heat very tasty. The chicken was crunchy and flavorful. The ok: the tortellini, it was kind of flavorless but the brodo was tasty. I used the bread to soak some of it. The bread and ricotta was ok but the bread could of been toasted more. So we did at home. The ricotta wasn't great. The bad: the beets, not very tasty at all. I didn't enjoy the sauce that came with it. It just wasn't a flavor I enjoyed. Too earthy. Overall I might go in for dinner again but I don't think I'd order take out. I'd want to see if the drive really impacted the food.
Be the first to ReplyTried dinner at Hathorne on a Wednesday.
The restaurant -- and especially the bar-- is very pretty & dimly lit in the evening, perfect for a date night. My only complaint (not enough to merit a star deduction) is the ridiculous per person reservation fee. Comparable small plates restaurants such as Answer do not have this, & even much more expensive places that are always booked up a month out, such as The Standard & Bourbon steak, don't do this. It feels like it's meant to screw customers. Putting that aside, our experience was fantastic. We had an early dinner that overlapped with happy hour, during which cocktails, beer, & wine are discounted. I was delighted to see that my favorite drink, French 75, was on the classic cocktail list. The specialty cocktail list was so great that it was difficult to choose. My French 75 was made perfectly as was my boyfriend's specialty cocktail with rye. We started with the charred sourdough with ricotta, which was a generous portion, and it also came with whipped butter. Next, we shared the spicy Brussels sprouts. These are some of the best we've had in Nashville which is saying a lot because we order them whenever they're on the menu! Not too spicy, heavily fried but not soggy sitting in its own oil, and just the right amount of acidity. Most importantly, the chefs here know how to char brussels AND cook them through fully. We shared the chicken schnitzel entree, which was also delicious. Our service was flawless throughout our meal. Our waiter made sure to space the courses out just like we wanted, and always made sure our water was full & we didn't need another drink. He also stopped by the table to make sure we loved every dish we received. Best of all, he brushed & collected crumbs from the table after each course, which very few places still do -- it really speaks to the training of the staff!

Birthday dinner was amazing! Salmon that Melts in your mouth. Lamb and peach ravioli that had the perfect sweetness! Sweet Roasted beets in an incredible sauce ( and I think beets taste like dirt usually). Roasted Brussels, pomme frites, gnocchi and lentil croquettes all shared by my friends was really a treat. We all tasted everything! So creative and beautiful. Dessert was donut holes and blue berries, and a dark chocolate pot of cream. Also to die for!The waitstaff and owner are so nice. I am truly impressed. The decor is really creative with bits from the former church nextdoor. A counter that is reminiscent of a confessional and A balustrade wall with candles between rows of tables. Really nice twist on a simple space. Wished I had taken photos but we were busy eating!
Be the first to ReplyWe have been looking forward to getting out to Sylvan Park
We have been looking forward to getting out to Sylvan Park to try Hathorne and finally got the chance for a Saturday night dinner. The space is very nice, especially the really cool bar area which runs the length of the main dining room. Our server Sarah was very knowledgeable and nice and paced the service very well. John, the owner, introduced himself and was clearly committed to making our first visit to Hathorne as pleasurable as possible. Loved the "Lincoln", a great bourbon-based citrusy summer concoction. The small snack/plate offerings have variety and interest, and the charred sourdough bread, crispy and spicy brussels and lettuces were all excellent. We found the current large-plate menu to be a bit limited, however, and while I enjoyed the salmon, which was simple and light, the pasta dish with beets was a little strange taste-wise and was not well executed, even with a kitchen do-over. The gnocchi dish which was graciously offered in substitution was good but similarly did not move the world insofar as taste. Brioche donuts with in-season berries for dessert were very nice. Hathorne is clearly a place which aims to cater to foodies, but on this night overall I came away feeling a bit disappointed in that regard. Hopefully the menu will expand somewhat and evolve in ways that will inspire another visit.
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere was the first thing that got me.
Very comfortable with hush aesthetics. Our server was phenomenal. So attentive and great at making suggestions. The food was so good. We sampled 4 of the appetizers before making it to the dinner portion. I haven't had consistently good food like I did this night!
