I had a fantastic experience when I came with my fiance to have a belated Valentine's celebration. The waiters were very attentive as they refilled drinks quickly and folded the napkins if we stepped away to go to the bathroom. The decorations and glassware were all very unique. The food was really good but the cost is very expensive (including a mandatory gratuity charge) so this is definitely something that I'd only get for a very special occasion. It can be a little hard to find the entrance as it's tucked away. They don't have a dedicated parking lot but we were able to find street parking on a Saturday night.

Food was very good but I was actually more enamored with all of their plates and cups. Everything was beautiful and unique and seemed very expensive. I love that they're glass cups are all different colors and each course came on a different beautiful plate. The food was fresh and delicious and flavorful, I left feeling very full and satiated. It was fun watching the sushi chef put everything together and timing each course well. However, the price is pretty exorbitant even for high end sushi prices. They charge like a 3 Michelin starred restaurant. This is definitely a place you come for very special occasions.

Good sushi (not outstanding for the price) but drinks are unreasonably overpriced. Having some options that are reasonably priced would have made the experience much better.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant setup and interior design is one of the best
The restaurant setup and interior design is one of the best I have ever been to. Lots of designs in the setup and even in all the utensils used. However the food is not up to expectation. Paying $350 per person, I was expecting something more than this. Caviar and wagyu are with high quality but the whole meal is just not satisfying enough. The amount of uni get is one of the smallest portion I have seen in high end omakase. The dessert even uses Godiva chocolate instead of house made one. The sushi is good but the portion size is not enough.
Be the first to ReplyYesterday was our first time to dine there.
The service was top notch. The food was amazing and the restaurant was so pretty. Overall, this is o awesome to have this high quality Japanese restaurant in the peninsula area. We were seating at sushi counter. The chef was from Osaka. His nigini pieces was so great and beautiful! All of dishes were so tasty and fresh. this Omakase also has some hot dishes from kitchen too. Our chef even gave my son a bigger size of nigiri which made my son so happy. We will definitely comeback for sure.
Be the first to ReplyFood was really good, but I have shared my food allergy
Food was really good, but I have shared my food allergy with the restaurant at the time of the reservation and as we entered the restaurant, but the chef has still included the item I was allergic to on my plate before his was going to serve. I spotted it and reminded him that I had the allergy, going forward he was just taking this item out without substituting with anything else (I have this allergy for a while now and this is the ONLY place that didn't make the substitution). He did start to substitute when I explicitly pointed that it wasn't quite fair. Apparently, he also continued to use the same tools to serve my sushi as I came home and gotten very sick (as I usually do when I am exposed to a given food) and was sick for 5 days due to the food cross-contamination! If you have ANY food allergies - beware! In addition, we brought a bottle of sake that we wanted to pay a corking fee for and this sake was special to us for the occasion we went to the restaurant for. They refused to open our sake saying that their policy doesn't allow for brining your own bottle. Seriously?! We brought a bottle of IWA5 that retails for about $190 - on their menu it was for over $900!..This is very draconian for this caliber of establishment. Ye,s the food was very good, but the overall experience made us decide to never come back.
Be the first to ReplyThis is our second time at Hiroshi and we love their dishes
This is our second time at Hiroshi and we love their dishes so much! Chefs are paying so much attention to all detailed of flavors of the food and even the seasoning sauce. The top quality of their ingredients surprise us so much that you would think you are in Japan at the moment eating the local delicacy. We get to come back for future celebrations soon!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best sushi in the area.
I personally think that it is as good as the best sushi restraint in Japan. The service is also excellent and we have 4 to 5 people serving us. The ambiance is also the best in the area. I highly recommend this place.

It's certainly quite good and the service and decor are noticeably great. But Hiroshi remains priced above some similar experiences and it makes it a bit of a tricky value proposition. But I guess fine dining is inherently not a value proposition. I particularly liked this sort of wagyu nigiri designed to be a tiny fancy bowl of gyudon. It really did a great job of evoke that pretty typical dish and making it feel special.

A bit of a hidden gem, this cozy fine Omakase place is located in Los Altos downtown. Chef Tetsu and chef Masa greeted me and the GM Kevin-san pour me house sake gently. All the fresh fishes are incredible and dishes in the beautiful plates make me feel very special for the day. :) Small bites, each dish I go one by one, chef asked me if I'm getting full, I said 'yes' so he made me rest of nigiris with smaller portioned rice which is very thoughful. It was enjoyable to hear about the seasonal fishes from all different oceans of Japan, Takamori Wagyu nigiri is another experience of Zeitaku (贅沢) fine dining. I have been eating other A5 wagyu dishes but Takamori is not everywhere. They also have very special rare bottles of Sake that is extremely pricey but worth to drop. Great job Chef Tetsu and Chef Masa and team! 近いうちにまた来ます。I will definetely be coming back for more with my best friends.
Be the first to ReplyCan a $495 pre-paid selection fixed menu ever be considered
Can a $495 pre-paid selection fixed menu ever be considered a bargain? In a word, YES, if it's dinner at Hiroshi. My daughter and I celebrated the end of her internship by having dinner here. Every single piece of fish or beef served was prepared with such exacting standards. Every bite was well thought out, a feast for the eyes, and delight for the mouth. By the time we got through the common course (where everyone was served the same thing) to the main dinner course (both my daughter and I ordered the sushi option), we were both already full, but could not pass up a single bite as everything was exquisite. By the time desert came, we had to use our dedicated desert stomachs to hold it, but we enjoyed it all. And then to top it off, you are presented with a box of Japanese Cookies as a parting gift. After completing a fantastic evening with precise service and flawless food, I can simply say yes, $495 per person for this dinner is a bargain. Just remember to bring your appetite, it is worth every bite.

A sure fire way to make a celebration memorable: -obscure entrance, check-luxurious bathroom, check -basket for your bag/coat, check-iPad to browse bottles and details of the interior, check-no extra fluff carby stuff to make you full, you will actually leave satisfied, check -culturally specific rare ingredients and preparations, check -other proteins also, like sashimi, uni, tempura, check-most A5 courses you will ever eat in your life in one sitting, check Big price tag, but the value is there.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely majestic culinary experience.
Worth every penny and a memory that will last a lifetime.
Be the first to ReplyThe ultimate selection for luxury Japanese cuisine.
I made a reservation for 2 in December w/ the wagyu steak and this is by far one of the most memorable dinners I've had in 2022. You know how some restaurants have buffer salads & vegetables in between courses? I've never wanted to eat more veggies in a pre-fix menu in my life. Each course was delicious and left my friend and I so appreciative that we could enjoy being guests here! I highly recommend the wagyu selection. They gave very generous portions & it was so fun to cook. The staff was attentive, the chefs were kind & the sake selection was amazing. If you drink, the staff give different style cups per bottle and the designs of these are amazing. They sell these in sets and pairs should you be interested.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious! Completely worth it.
The service is impeccable and the food is authentic. The details are very special here. Down to their sushi bar to their sake cups.

I recommend it to you ! You wont get dispointed
Be the first to ReplyAn immaculate flawless execution of sushi and an experience
An immaculate flawless execution of sushi and an experience like no other. Absolutely perfect fish, pacing and service. Gorgeous traditional plateware and crystal from Japan that is handmade. Perfect Uni, perfect tuna, perfect fish and some very interesting presentations.
Be the first to ReplyLet's eat here at some point.
It's really nice. They have toro and sake. It's great for a first date.
Be the first to ReplyThere's not enough to say about Hiroshi.
I could use all these fancy words like magnificent, exquisite, high-end, delicate, and perfect, but they would not be enough to describe the omakase experience at Hiroshi. The 12 course omakase dining experience is truly specific to the place and time. Simply put, it was very memorable in the outside patio. I consider it a fine dining experience and a memorable escape. The house-made Sake was sweet and had an extremely balanced taste. I did not feel a thing the day after, even though we finished the whole bottle. Everything was paced perfectly, in terms of pouring sake and the food being served. The omakase experience was about 3 hours total. I highly recommend their house sake or a drink to enjoy the serenity in the outdoor patio. This was a time to forget about life. The omakase menu only says 12 courses, but somehow I remember more than 12 items. The wagyu, sashimi, cod, and o-toro were especially memorable, but everything was amazing quality, so I cannot single out a dish that was better than the rest. They even send you home with a special treat, which was icing on the cake the next morning. Again, everything Hiroshi gives becomes a core memory. The ambience and decor was another site to behold (even the bathroom mirror). Not to spoil anything, but there's an iPad that describes all the Japanese decor and story of Hiroshi. Thanks Kevin, chef and all the servers for the memorable experience! I'll be back one day to try the indoor omakase experience.
Be the first to ReplyI have fond memories of my meal at Hiroshi when it first
I have fond memories of my meal at Hiroshi when it first opened in Spring 2017. I was impressed with the quality of their A5 wagyu (still my favorite to this day!) and the carefully curated interior decor. Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to revisit the Los Altos spot to try Chef Hiroshi Kimura's new washoku menu which incorporates more seafood.
Be the first to ReplyTake the best meal you have ever had in your life.
Multiply that by a factor of ten.Listen to "Nothing Compares to You" by Prince on repeat for about an hour.Fantasize about uni, toro, Wagyu, caviar, and countless other delicacies that would make the Empress of Japan jealous. Then think about a California wine so cult that only two restaurants in the United States list in on their menus. And one of those is the Four Seasons in New York. Now, imagine a two hour-long performance of culinary genius that is like a symphony in slow motion. No extraneous movements. Pure poetry in motion. Graceful motions, nonverbal communication, and edible arrangements that would not be out of place in a museum of modern art. This is Hiroshi. There is no better food and wine to be found in the San Francisco Bay Area. Maybe the world. It's hidden in plain site on a Main Street in Los Altos. Order Stone wine. Sit for afternoon omakase at the chef's counter. Breathe. Take your time. This is how the 1% of the 1% eat out. So, too, can you. I ate here with 5 other people today. It was amazing beyond words. If you don't eat here at least once on your life, you will regret it.I guarantee.Google it.Hiroshi passed away in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic. Stress from having to close this understated but almost impossibly elegant temple to the triumph of human culinary creativity was a factor in his untimely death. I have been to many fine restaurants and has countless exquisite dining experiences over the years. But nothing compares to you, Hiroshi. Sir, your spirit lives on!
Be the first to ReplyClosest to Japan's best sushi on the mainland (Hawaii
Closest to Japan's best sushi on the mainland (Hawaii excluded). The glassware and silverware manufactured specially for Hiroshi. Huge cherry blossom artwork in the bathroom. Highlights were wagyu sliders and wagyu steak. Everything prepared fresh in front of you. Price pretty steep, restaurant was originally meant for parties of eight once a day. Pandemic forced them to open up to more patrons. Will they go back to exclusivity once pandemic is over i wonder?
Be the first to ReplyBeen a little MIA on Yelp, so I'm tryna get the ball
Been a little MIA on Yelp, so I'm tryna get the ball rolling again and write some new reviews. My girlfriend took me here last month for my birthday, so while the experience is still pretty fresh on my mind, I'll write a review about it. First off, I'd say Hiroshi seems to be closer to a kaiseki meal instead of an omakase experience. I say this because the chef is mostly in the back preparing the set dishes and you actually rarely get to see them. And without the chef being in front of you, you can't really make adjustments on the spot like how a traditional omakase should be. Secondly, you actually get to choose between having wagyu or nigiris towards the latter part of the meal, so if you choose wagyu, you're pretty much not having any sushi at all. (I chose the wagyu and it was quite heavy towards to end because the portion was pretty big) I know some people when they go to Japanese restaurants with an "omakase experience," they'd expect a lot of sushi, so if you want that, make sure you request the nigiri! As far as the food goes, I didn't find any particular dish to be exceptional (except for the beef tartare which was excellent) especially at their price point. Of course, they have fresh fish and a good amount of wagyu but some execution of the dishes were kinda lacking... all in all, I think if the price was a bit lower, I'd say it's a nice experience, but at the current price level ($500/ppI think there are better options.

Afternoon Omakase? Yes, please! Price: $295 per person (x 2 - $590) + 20% gratuity ($118) + 9.13% tax ($64.64). Tina's Tip: Make a reservation ahead of time on their website to reserve a time slot. I did for the counter; although, system error and I was seated at a table. Overall, it was still a good experience. Order the hot green tea!
