Great food, friendly people, good cold beers - open spaces, but place to sit could be tough on certain days.
Honestly, the best barbecue you're going to get in New York.
As soon as I walked in, the ambience made me feel like I was in the south, great customer service, great food. Probably going to be the best cornbread I'm ever gonna have in my entire life.

An excellent (if oddly remote) barbecue spot that deserves positive attention; the brisket was excellent, but the gimmicky other dishes (particularly the pastrami bacon) were a tad overpriced. This is counter service. The meat is so good you do not need sauce. My friends enjoyed the sides, but I stuck to meat.
I've been meaning to come here for years.
Everyone tells me this is the best brisket in NY. Sadly mine was dry but flavor was good. Besides that everything else was super delicious. Pulled pork may have been the best ive had in NY. Also the pastrami sandwhich which is only served Friday Saturday and Sunday was even more tender than Katz. Ribs were amazing as well. I will definitely come back and give the brisket another shot.

Honestly some of the bbq on the map !!! This place is the absolute truth the entire restaurant is like a wood smoker it doesn't get much better
Have to say that I agree with some of the other reviews
Have to say that I agree with some of the other reviews that the food was hit or miss. What we do ordered Mains: 1/2lb brisket, 1/2lb pulled pork, Italian sausage, and brisket sandwich Sides: pickles, cole slaw, and collared greens Wins: Brisket Sandwich: great sandwich that is worth the drive from anywhere in the metro area Brisket: probably the best brisket I've had in the metro area hands down. Would definitely pick this over Fette Sau for Brooklyn Good: Collard Greens: I actually liked them but not having vinegar anywhere around made this a slight miss for me. Pickles: they were good but not a standout. Bad: Pulled Pork: was so greasy that it was somewhere between a liquid and a solid. Tasted good texture was terrible Sausage: was undercooked so it felt more like sausage paste than meat. Flavor was unremarkable Cole Slaw: dry and not much flavor to it. Best I can say is that it has a caloric value TLDR: if you want good brisket, come here. If you want anything else, go to Fette Sau.
I think this is as good as it gets in NYC.
Really. BBQ is just not something that New York does well. There are options, but they're limited. Hometown is by far the closest thing I've encountered to something comparable down south, but it just happens to be in Brooklyn and is *way* more expensive. (#1) It's been just over a decade since their hyped debut and I think they were onto something special from the start. There are so many places that have tried to get it right, but by choosing a location in Red Hook where they could take advantage of the space and pit smoking that couldn't be done in other parts of the city. I love the fact they smoke on oak wood. This alone gives some of their meats a robust flavor profile, which tastes complex and savory all the way through. The beef rib is perfectly charred with a good amount of tenderness and fat. I have always been thorough impressed with their brisket, which is both lean with a smidgin of moistness. I realize the ribs have been a big selling point, but I've had too many visits where they were too dry for my liking. The pulled pork sandwich has been a hit with many, but it's always fared a bit average on this end. Even if it feels a bit cheesy, I do prefer their belly but that's only been a special and is not a consistent offering. It should be pointed out that the place is massive. There is plenty of seating with indoor and outdoor options. On select weekends, they'll have live music and a good amount of drunk'ish folks crowding the bar. Overall, it's nice to have this option anywhere in NY, and they've certainly played a big role in the transformation of Red Hook as a neighborhood. ___________ (#1) Definitely not better than Texas BBQ, but it's fabulous for NY.

the food off the hook, great ambience !! the bar is super cozy and i'll be back a ton!
Amazing food is always came here with my cousins.
This is literally the best barbecue spot in all of New York taste just like Texas highly highly highly recommend. They also do catering, which is really cool that I might do for my family members birthday!
Absolutely the best.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC DELICIOUS BBQ!!!! You get so much delicious BBQ. You will not leave hungry. Biggest pulled pork sandwich that I have ever had.
Great BBQ spot.
Everything was delish. Inside has tables and in the back room they have bigger tables. Seat yourselves. Two bars, the time we came only one was being used. Self service water stations which is sooo convenient! The line does get backed up as there is only person taking orders and the other is charging you. Whenever they run out of items they black it out on the menu. I'd def be back! Great food with great people!
No service and attitude staff
Food was freezing cold and the staff gave us a bad attitude. I'm a big fan of BBQ so this was a big disappointment, I'm not sure why they were sarcastic and impatient with us as it was our first time. There's also no service, but they grilled us when we didn't tip. No one gave us service what was the issue? Confusing place I don't recommend.
Top
A little out of the way from the tourist circuits but worth the journey. Delicious meat, one of the best I've ever eaten, excellent cornbread, choice of craft beer. Recommended without a shadow of a doubt. Compliments!
Awful Service
Food is pretty good but I wud never come back because of lack of service. After getting on the line for food which is common for BBQ places, I need to pay for that and then pay again for the drinks. Extremely inconvenient. What is worst is the attitude of the servers, they act like they doing us a favor and some privilege they are even talking to us. Whatever, losers, won't come back.
BK BBQ TO GO-GO
Came back after a few years fir bbq to go. The line miraculously wasn’t long and was able to order fir the family within 10 min from the wrap around ramp. The Draft beer selection was on point as they had my 2 favorites, Fiddlehead IPA from VT., and Green City IPA, from right here in Brooklyn. We ordered spare ribs, brisket sandwich (my fav) pulled pork , queso w/ chips and brisket (not sure how the brisket fits into the mix per se). Also cornbread and banana pudding. Came home and inhaled almost everything. As the rest will be for snacking for the week ahead.
Decadent barbecue
This is one of the very few barbecue joints in the States that receive Michelin recognition. Hometown Bar-B-Que is an unpretentious eatery at Red Hook, a former industrial neighborhood at Brooklyn waterfront. Decor is hip industrial style with counter service only. We came on a weekday late afternoon and it was surprisingly busy. The signature smoked meat is an instant favorite. While the more conventional options like brisket and pastrami bacon are loyal to southern traditions, the creative takes like homemade sausage, Korean ribs and Vietnamese wings make Hometown a truly unique place. Meat is well-seasoned but not excessively salty. Price is very reasonable. Do come early to avoid a long queue.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Give the best answerConcierge change fulfillment time
I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

Give the best answerApp
This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
