Truly spectacular
What is to say? This hotel has it all - spectacular views & gardens, gracious service, elevator accessed beach-chairs at the bottom of a cliff, amazing food & bar - WOW. If you've got the chance to stay at Il Pellicano - do it!
Be the first to ReplyBest view of the Tyrrhenian Sea
We spent 3 nights in a Deluxe Suite. Every morning and every night, the skies and the Tyrrhenian Sea would change its colours, it was a moving sight. Mind you, the stars are so big and bright as there is no light pollution there. The staff were friendly and helpful; the rooms are spotless and good in size; the food is bliss from Italy (wine/and seasonal ingredients all from the best regions of Italy). You can feel it’s the people behind the hotel that makes this place shine, they take pride in it, too. We will definitely be back one day. Oh, the only downfall was mosquitoes/flies throughout our outdoor dining experience…I guess it’s a common factor for summers.
Be the first to ReplyElevator to the beach!
Stunning cliff side property. Exquisitely run with highly efficient staff. Best discovery is the elevator to the beach! The beach is multi tiered, so the elevator gets you to a row of sea view lounge chairs. Live music every night in either the top floor bar or lower bar. We ate most lunches & dinners there as it is tucked away from the town. The food is consistent & delicious. I took a tennis lesson with their pro, which was more of a hitting session. The room had the best espresso machine I have ever seen in a hotel. My husband likes regular american coffee, so every morning I would call for his & it was delivered quickly within minutes. They have a golf cart to get you around the property, but mostly not needed. Our room G6 was large with 2 level sea view patio. I went to the spa for a pedicure, it is small but quaint with a large boutique filled with sundresses. The property is filled with mature landscaping and looks personally cared for. This is one of our favorite properties. Absolutely unique in every way.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful property but service needs improvement
I spent 3 nights at Il Pellicano and I absolutely loved the property it but it could use some improvement. The room was comfortable, toiletries were great, and so were the linens. Housekeeping did a great job and I really enjoyed the little daily gift they would leave. It's a nice touch. The property is breathtaking, beach club area and the pool staff were very nice, so is everyone at the SPA. Restaurant service is VERY Inconsistent. Some of the staff are great others are lost.I also think it's a language barrier, but a hotel of this caliber should not have this issue. I was told to make a reservations for the restaurants when I checked in. So I did, when I arrived for my first dinner they couldn't find the reservation I had made 1 hour ago and kept asking if I was guest in the hotel, after that she kept asking if I was dining solo. The hostess literally asked that 3 times, she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that I was traveling alone. And everyday I would see that hostess she would again say just one again. The food at Pelligrill is average, when I went for lunch I had asked what a dish was and the waitress replied it's a sweet pig, when the dish arrived it was a plate of Prosciutto with cheese. That was not what was on the menu. One day I had lunch in the bar area and they took to 20 minutes to acknowledge me then another 20 minutes to bring the check only for it to be under the wrong name. At that point I got up and just went to bar to get my bill. Their Michelin star restaurant was very good but service inconsistent some waiters were great other left a lot to be desired and the presentation was inconsistent. One night I ordered beef tartare and the presentation was spectacular it came out in the mise en place and it was prepped in front of me the following night it came ready out of the kitchen. Breakfast service was the same. Some days it was great the other days it took 20 minutes for them to come get my coffee order. The dining service is a little too lax. And thing is there seems to be enough staff it's just that they aren't alert. I will say the staff at the SPA were great. I loved the property and the fact that there really isn't anything to do other then to relax.
Be the first to ReplyStyle over Substance
We recently stayed at Pellicano for 4 nights and unfortunately, we found the whole experience extremely disappointing and couldn’t believe how bad it was from start to finish. We had previously stayed at one it’s sister properties, Mezzatorre in Ischia and had a wonderful stay. A few people had said to us that Pellicano was their jewel in the crown and we were really looking forward to our stay but by the second day we couldn’t wait to leave. I’ll start off with the positives: - Beautiful property, which seems to be well maintained. - The beach club area is very nice and the employees working in this area were kind and helpful (miles apart from the rest of the Pellicano team - which I’ll come on to shortly). - The food at their 1* Michelin restaurant was good. Negatives: - The majority of the employees at this property were combative and dare I say, argumentative at times. It felt like anytime you asked for simple help/assistance that it was a chore and they called the shots. - Sloppy and inconsistent service. I informed our waiter at the restaurant that I was allergic to shrimp/prawns twice and shortly after he brings out an appetizer from the chef and reads out the ingredients, which included prawns. I had to remind him again and he fortunately took my plate away. - After finishing lunch one day in their grill restaurant, our waiter seem to disappear and no one came to clear our plates or ask us if we wanted coffee / desserts for over 20 minutes. I had to walk over to the restaurant hostess and ask where our waiter was and if they could please clear our table. She didn’t like the fact I did this in front of other customers and tried her best to downplay the whole situation by hurrying me along back to the table. - Another time at their grill restaurant, one evening, the waitress literally threw down the main courses aggressively on the table without announcing the dishes and who they were for. She threw my main course down first and incorrectly to my wife. - Outside of their Michelin star restaurant, the food was distinctively average and way overpriced i.e. €18 EUR for 2 scoops of gelato!? (daylight robbery) - We ordered room service the first night and the price of the Caesar salad was different to what was on the menu compared to what I signed on the bill when they brought it to the room (it was priced more) - I had to call and advise them that they had over charged me and they said it was a mistake in the system. They did correct this immediately. - The towels and linens in our room were thin, cheap and worn, nothing like the lovely ones at Mezzatorre. The ones left beneath our sink, also smelt damp and moldy. - The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the pillows weren’t adequately supportive - The effort it required to request a simple iron or steamer to our room was like pulling teeth out. Eventually we received it after the fourth request. You would of thought you were asking them to iron your whole wardrobe. All in all, this hotel was a real let down and we would rate it as a 3* at best, nowhere near the 5* rating or a Leading Hotel of the World status. We didn’t feel welcome whatsoever and when you are meant to be staying in a 5* hotel, paying in excess of $1k+ per night you would expect the highest of standards and levels of service.
Be the first to ReplyTreat for the senses in a remote location
This hotel was a treat for the senses. We thought the highlights were the incredibly lush and diverse landscaping throughout the property and the beach club. We had a great time on our dinghy ride and an hour was enough time to see the coast. I used the hotel's paddleboards every day which was really fun. We loved how each area of the hotel was set up perfectly for photos and great views. Our room was large and had a great terrace. Despite the size, we didn't find our room to be particularly comfortable; the bed was hard and there were no pillows or cushions on the daybed or side chairs in the living area. The hotel had a decent selection of options for breakfast but nothing was particularly good. We ate a few lunches and a dinner at the hotel and thought the food was pretty good and probably worth staying on the property for rather than venturing out. We appreciated that the size of the hotel felt intimate and private even though they were fully booked at the time. Service was good all around but not as thoughtful or attentive as we would have liked. We were glad to have experienced this iconic hotel but given the remote location I don't think we would return.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
My husband and I wanted to have a salad or coffee at the terrace in the afternoon and had no reservation, as we were passing by. At the front gate, we were told that they would check availability with the restaurant. After a while, they opened the gate (we arrived by car). We parked the car, went to the reception and were, again, asked, if we had a reservation. The staff seemed very unfriendly and not welcoming at all. We told them that one of their staff members had already checked for us. After some awkward whispering and phone calls, one of the staff people admitted, it had been him who we spoke to. That they don‘t welcome any outside guests for coffee at the terrace. I stated that this was a pity, since we also wanted to have a look at the hotel for a possible later stay there. He offered to show us around. We were so turned off by the attitude of this hotel that we were no longer interested. There are numerous wonderful luxurious hotels in the world, so why would any guest want to put up with an arrogant attitude like this? Very disappointing indeed. And surprising to us that nowadays it is even possible for any touristic place to treat potential customers like this. The internal miscommunication was clearly not our fault and should have been handled much better by the staff. This place will definitely not see us ever again and we will for sure not recommend it. A pity! The location would have been nice!

Stayed with the family due to recommendations from friends. And surely we have enjoyed every single minute. The location is one of a kind. Directly, I mean directly next to the ocean. Service staff and management lovely and well trained. Without any doubt simply 5 out of 5. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyClassically beautiful and romantic Italian resort
Slim Aarons - the 20th century society photographer who captured “beautiful people in beautiful places doing beautiful things” - loved Il Pellicano. And the features that drew Slim’s eye remain. Il Pellicano nestles in a spectacular stretch of Tuscan coast. The hotel was designed with luxurious relaxation in mind, and continues to fulfil its promise. The suites are generous, many with terraces and wonderful views. The service is discrete and thoughtful. There are food options, including a Michelin starred restaurant, which honour local cuisine (as well as less European tastes, if that’s your thing). There is an excellent beach club, as well as a heated salt water pool, both with attentive service. It won’t be your cheapest vacation, but it may well be one of your most memorable.
Be the first to ReplyHoneymoon
We recently stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon. We had the sexiest, most romantic honeymoon you could imagine. The location, service, attentiveness of staff, restaurants and bars were stunning! All the personnel were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is even more beautiful than the photos. I don’t usually write reviews, but am so in love with this hotel and the staff that I want to return every year. We met people that have been visiting this hotel every year, for 29 years, and I certainly understand why. As for the hotel boutique, this is undeniably one of the best concept stores in the world. You cannot leave without being seduced to purchase!! Amazing. X💜X

Wonderful hotel, 3 days of heaven, very cool vibe to the place - didn't leave the hotel, lie in the sun, swim in the sea, enjoy delicious food and drink. Paddle board and then lunch down by the sea ...
