Highly recommend!
What a nice experience! Perfect view to watch a sunset and listen to a band. The drinks were tasty a the food was very good. You may want to bring a sweater in the winter moths to enjoy outdoor dining. I highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyDinner with ambience
We had a lovely dinner and lucked out with the best seat on the patio!! If you want ambience, this is the restaurant for you!! Entertainment was just what we wanted as tourists!! Hawaiian music and dancing!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent BREAKFAST Buffet
We had breakfast here everyday for five consecutive days. Their breakfast buffet is plentiful and changes a bit every day. The service is outstanding and the views are second to none.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful entertainment
Outside dining with wonderful entertainment. The entertainment goes from 6-9. When we were there it was a wonderful trio and hula dancer. We just went for drinks and got their signature coconut cake martini! If you like sweet, this is the drink for you. Its also a great place to watch the sunset. It is at the Halekulani Hotel. There is a limited menu and they do accept reservations.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful upscale restaurant!
This is a wonderful upscale restaurant! We had a wonderful, attentive waiter! Excellent food! With a wonderful view of the ocean! For where it is located, the price was reasonable.
Be the first to ReplyJazz after 5pm
Wow. Located at the rear of the Halekulani hotel alongside the beach, this exquisite hotel continues to gift. Beverage prices are equal to others and yet, the location of a beautiful view of Diamond Head within a first class setting, a jazz band with former miss universe contestant and with 5 star service will have you asking, “why didn’t I visit sooner?”. Comfortable seating, umbrellas and shade until the sunsets, everything you’d want including a food menu, I cannot fault. Lorenzo ensures the team provides a beautiful experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal service and view
Our last night in Waikiki and found this Fantastic food and service was immaculate, best meal we have had in Hawaii, would definitely recommend
Be the first to ReplyMostly fabulous
Great Mai Tai, delicious food and drink. Our waiter was really nice and great. The only negative was the guy who was in charge of "seating the cocktail area" was not really doing his job. We waited and waited and even after our table was called we sat in the waiting area for over 10 minutes while he chatted. Finally the hostess gave us a table in the dining room area as she felt bad we had been waiting so long. After that all was well. The coconut cake is to DIE for!
Be the first to ReplyOverrated - Not worth the dime
Overrated - service was good but they take standard items like taro from a grocery store add condiments and charge you a small fortune for the privilege. Overall I didn’t think much of their food and was again annoyed with the over priced food and desert which you can get from any patisserie around the corner. What that tells me is that they take advantage of their guests and anyone that eats in their restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyBeachfront bar with lovely Hula show at sunset
You can't get any more feeling of being in true Hawaii until you experience the relaxing sounds of a Hawaiian band with soothing ocean waves in the background. We were fortunate to view the very talented Miss Hawaii/Miss USA/Miss Universe Brook Lee dancing beautiful graceful Hula with the band. This free entertainment is from 5:30pm-8:30pm with no reservations. The setting sun provided the perfect backdrop to enjoy an evening drink, which is expensive, however no complaints as the service was impeccable and the setting beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyLoved, loved this place!
First, the staff are five stars. Our server was warm, friendly without being too much. The water filler was outstanding and hustling. We were seated in front of music but wanted dinner so they moved us to a larger patio table that was perfect. Wine was amazing. Food delicious but maybe we had been to too many bad restaurants prior🤩
Be the first to ReplyGreat for apps to listen to the music
Had reservations for 5:30pm to listen to the music and have some drinks & appetizers, before dinner elsewhere. Had a nice table outside and enjoyed the music. The 3 apps we ordered were all really good. Wine was good & kids had fun n/a options too. Would do this again.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous/busy setting
We were here for dinner one evening and cocktails another evening. Both nights they had a Hawaiian group and dancer which people seemed to really enjoy. The menu is short and excellent. We thought the CA. wine was a tad on the expensive side at $25 a glass, but after experiencing another of their restaurants, La Mer, $25 was a good bargain. This is almost 100% outside with umbrellas so not sure what they do when it rains. Close to the pool and overlooking the ocean. Good service. They seem to attract a lot of people from other hotels and locals.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately it was a let down
This was the only dinner reservation that I was REALLY looking forward to and it was overpriced, with below-average food and a dead vibe. We had a dinner reservation for 7:30 pm and the music stopped shortly after showing up, I'm not even sure if we had ordered our mains before everyone started clearing out. While the service was good, the food sucked. The Hawaii’s No Ka `Oi Poke Trio came in a dish too small and tasted low quality. My friend and I split the Laulau and a special (I believe it was swordfish.) Both were incredibly dry, the swordfish could have been saved by the sauce but they had skimped on it. In all honestly, I should have sent the Lau Lau back - the pork was like eating rubber and the miso yaki fish was forgettable (go to roy's.) The wine was priced at half liters at exorbitant prices. The best thing on the table was the bread basket. We spent the most amount of money here out of all of the dinners and while it was definitely the worst, I will commend them for the service, acknowledging my birthday, and bringing over a nice piece of cake.
Be the first to ReplyTry to make a reservation for sunset
We heard all the hype about this restaurant so I grabbed what reservation I could. We had a 7:15 reservation. We were staying 45 min from the restaurant, but we made the trek because everyone said it was a beautiful place. The restaurant is nice and the food is good, but I don’t think you get the full experience when it’s dark outside and your missed out on the sunset and seeing the water. The entertainment was very nice and there plenty of seats to just walk in and grab a seat for drinks. In my opinion, if you don’t get a time for sunset, it may not be worth it. If you are staying close by go for it but don’t make the trek if you don’t have a reservation around sunset. It’s a pricey place!
Be the first to ReplyBad food, average cocktails, overpriced for the quality or taste - none
A disaster, the food was not possible to eat. House Without A Key Laulau dinner plate was badly cooked. The braised smoked pork tasted like an eraser. The chef is a disaster, he probably never taste what he is cooking of he completely doesn't care. The server took the plate off the bill, but the bad taste is worse than the money refund. My wife's plate was below average, I was trying hers as well- Halekulani Signature Steamed Onaga. We left the place with a hefty bill and empty stomach, both with a bad taste and baffled by why other people score this chef's cooking higher. Dessert was average, the 3-4 cocktails were also average or below average - the Yellow Umbrella tasted as gasoline, no idea what they tried there. I am completely stunned. Nothing was good, nothing was done better then average and they claim a premium price. Why people score this place so high? Overpriced and below average. I cannot recall an worse experience at a highly review place. A complete disaster.
Be the first to ReplyLovely dinner with a view
Recently celebrated Valentines Day early here with a lovely sunset dinner. Quintessential Hawaii with the ocean view, live music and a hula dancer in addition to fabulous cocktails (MaiTais and coconut Old Fashioned!) The food was excellent, coconut cake dessert sublime, and service by Joe was professional and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a special night out on Oahu.
Be the first to ReplyFancy food, beautiful location right on the beach, nice entertainment
Such a wonderful location for an evening out! Right on the ocean, great view of Diamond Head, saw some cruise ships sail past. Great spot for taking pictures of a beautiful sunset. The food was very fancy, and the price of the meal was in line with the type of meal we had. We were expecting an extravagant meal and to pay what we did for it. Our waiter was very attentive, our water glasses were regularly being refilled throughout out meal, and he checked in on us a couple of times during our meal as well. The entertainment was very nice as well, and a nice addition to a beautiful evening. House Without A Key is right on the ocean, so we were able to take many beautiful sunset pictures, and Diamond Head was very close by, so added to the beauty of the night shots we took. If you are looking for a beautiful venue to have a special meal and don't mind spending a fair amount of money for it, it's well worth it to come here for dinner (or just a drink, as some people did).
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Underwhelmed is the best word to describe our night. Beautiful location and lovely live entertainment but that was the highlite. We explained we weren't in a rush and held off ordering mains until after our appy/cocktails yet the mains arrived before our wine and shortly after our appies. We enjoyed our wine after our mains...:(. Portions small for the price. We love Orchids and expected this to be on par but if was a fail for us. Won't return.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite restaurant in Oahu
My favorite restaurant in Waikiki. This isn’t a place you go for food, people watching, or just views, but for the relaxation and peace of mind. During my week-long trip, I ate here twice. With my family, I tried house without a key burger, fish tacos, papikaula salad, and a flatbread with beer, a rose, and a daiquiri. Of all these menu, I loved papikaula salad the most, but I would visit the place without hesitation no matter what they served. I ate breakfast at the Orchid because house without a key was fully booked at the time of my choice. House without a key is the reason I wish to stay at Halekulani next time.
Be the first to ReplyBest bar staff
Superb food! Bar staff are excellent! Dinner reservations recommended. We did not have a reservation, so we asked if we could sit at the bar (you must ask - they did not offer). Glad we did! The bar staff are the best and their good humor made our dinner even more special. Food was quickly delivered and was quite tasty. The rest of the restaurant has a more formal ambience - perfect for a romantic dinner. The live entertainment is different each night. You can still enjoy the live music if you stand outside the restaurant on the walkway overlooking the ocean. Nothing like a Hawaiian sunset to the tunes of traditional Hawaiian music. The restaurant may be named after an early 20th century novel about a Hawaiian detective.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Dinner Experence of Our Trip
We made a dinner reservation for a party of six about 4 days before our dinner date. We arrived and the hostess took us to our table. It was a table for 4 and we asked to either have a table for 6 or to have another table added to the existing table. We were told this was the only table available to us. With no other alternative available with such short notice, we squeezed around the table. There were several empty tables around us that could have accomodated six people. We each odered different entrees and no-one was pleased with their choice. I ordered the House Without A Key Laulau, and it was awful. The dish was poorly cooked. It was adverised as crispy pork rind but it was delivered with greasy pork fat and very little pork. Mostly a glob of fat. To add insult to our experience, a group of six arrived shortly after we started eating and they too were seated at a table for 4. They complained more loudly than us and the hostess sesated them at a table for six. The only enjoyable part of the evening was the sunset, the classic Hawaiian music and hula performance. Overall the food was terrible, under cooked and ridiculously over priced.
