Fine for a wine bar
This is more like a wine bar, not a place you would really go for a proper meal out. The service throughout the evening was hit and miss, we had to ask for a menu and drinks, We had a mixture of food, with my husband having tapas, one they had to change because they got the order wrong. I had a large plate dish. I wanted a Diet Coke but they did not have any! What bar doesn’t have this?!! However they gave me a free glass of pink fizz. It was totally random as we left they have us two opened bottles of wine to take away. One with a cork and one screw top. We could carry the corked one home the following day or put in the suit case though, so was a bit of waste, unfortunately. A lovely thought though.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent lunch
Excellent lunch. Well hosted by new manager Mark. Good wines on tasting as ever and a near perfect flat iron steak. My guest enjoyed the cauliflower bake.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible for vegans but good selection of wines
I ordered cauliflower steak, it was a slice of cauliflower with a tomato based sauce over the top, it was so hard to cut I had to ask for a steak knife it was like eating a slice of raw cauliflower, would not go back. My boyfriend had chicken and said it was good.
Be the first to ReplyPoor organisation and average
Post work meal for 10-12. On arrival 2/3rds the team had to wait of the neighbouring table to pay and get table cleaned. Whilst the team were being seated in the late set table the waiter asked for food orders from the 4 seated. Food came out when ready like Wagamama’s… food didn’t get delivered to the individual who ordered, just randomly placed on the large table. People had to ask for wine glasses when wine was already on the table. Drinks were ordered and never arrived… had to chase servers to get them. I had the steak medium rare… it was medium / well done. I ordered peppercorn sauce which was delivered ti other side of the table so didn’t come to me, the steak was bland and there’s no seasoning available on the table (given I didn’t have my sauce). It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday in January (trying to give them some excuse for poor service) Wine was largely good. The Italian was harder to move than the french. So we’ll give it credit here… shame it didn’t achieve food or service.
Be the first to Reply'Meet the Austrian Winemaker' Dinner - Fantastic!!
Last night I went to a special dinner with Austrian wine pairing. The wine producer was there to tell us about each wine followed by the chef who explained how the food was paired with the wine and why. The wine was delicious, the food was delicious, and I even made some new friends as well. I highly recommend those events. Until the next one...
Be the first to ReplyNothing by halves
We came here half to talk about work stuff and half just because we needed lunch. The wine is quite pricy but there's a wide range to choose from and the bottle we chose was different and delicious. One of us had 2 courses from a set menu and really enjoyed it - one person chose from the list of "smaller plates" and found they weren't small at all. She had enough to give us all a taste! The sharing boards also looked great. Great friendly service and not too busy or loud so we could talk.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious with poor service
Ignored when we walked in, wine at £58 a bottle (!!) wasn’t available as they hadn’t any chilled, told to ‘follow me’ (to a table) in a manner that felt like I was being arrested, and then suffered very poor service. Very unimpressed…felt like they were trying too hard to be pretentious to worry about their clientele. I’ve been to many more welcoming, more ambient, and cheaper wine bars.

The food was great and the service was lovely too. We went with a friend and a newborn and they were really accommodating.

another great evening in the Humble Grape - worth the difficulty in finding it ! We hadnt booked but as always the helpful team found us a table and we had a great dinner
Be the first to ReplySteak and wine were out of this world
It was just lunch but turned out to be so much more. Our waitress had incredible knowledge of wines and we were tempted to try a South African white and a red from Mount Etna. They were both absolutely exquisite but what made it extra special was the knowledge re the wines shared by the waitress. So impressed was the friend that was having lunch with me that he bought a bottle of the red to take home. We both shared a large steak on the bone. Now we are both foodies and enjoy our steak and I can vouch that this was excellent and an improvement on the Hawksmoor I had Monday evening.
Be the first to ReplyNice place, but a bit pricey.
We visited here as we thought the food looked reasonably priced but we didn't price up drinks! Our friends were staying in the area.
We arrived and somehow they knew I had a birthday celebration and gave us both a complimentary glass of rose.
Our friends arrived and we ordered drinks and food, it was all a bit overpriced but this is London! The venue is quirky, an old church and the staff are friendly.
We had a good evening.
Fiiiinneee wine
Amazing selection of wine, very friendly service and knowledgeable staff. Only stayed for wine but the food looked just as good!
Be the first to ReplyLovely evening with friends to share some great wines
The wine list is extensive and well stocked with more variety and really good quality wines. Not cheap, but well worth it. We went for a number of the various food platters to share and they all were exeptionally tasty and very well put together. The staff were very friendly, attentive, knowledgable and accommodating - very refreshing!
Be the first to ReplyNice wine bar, but pricey
We visited the Humble Grape off Bishopsgate (Liverpool Street) one evening, to share a bottle of wine and have some nibbles. The novelty of being able to go out again was one reason, and that we'd both been out and working and didn't want to go home and cook, as we'd normally do.
When I saw the menu prices I thought it was going to be a stretch, but it was a nice place and the waiter was welcoming and attentive, so we thought we'd treat ourselves.
Had a lovely bottle of organic Vin de Pays de Cotes de Gascoigne, and we ordered just a few small plates: hummous, babaganoush, crab on flatbread and a few artichoke hearts.
Everything was very nice, but small portions and big prices! Hummous £7, 4 or 5 bites of crab £11.50.. with the wine at £30 + our light bite to eat came to nearly £70. I thought this was quite overpriced for what we had.
Unusual venue, friendly staff, nice food.
Great wine bar to visit with friends, to share a bottle of wine and have a catch up. Staff are attentive and very helpful. Food is tasty and well presented. Looking forward to going back.
