Stay away! I had high hopes considering it was a part of the Il buco family. I went for my 30th birthday with my sister who is gluten free, and when asked if we had allergies, we made it abundantly clear she had a severe gluten allergy. I specifically asked them weeks before if they could accommodate, and I was assured they could. Well, let's just say the server did not follow through with their commitment. He wasn't knowledgeable, reassuring or informed. We ordered and asked specifically if it had gluten and he said, "no". After she ate it, she knew it had gluten and we asked our server and he said, "no, it's just in the fryer for a second". He was careless and casual about it. I'd expect that he would understand the severity of intake of food and him to escalate our concern. I'm guessing he knew he messed up. We were clearly pissed.Needless to say, my sister couldn't enjoy the rest of my birthday night, felt terrible and had to go home. Thanks a lot... my birthday was definitely memorable in the worst possible way. AVOID.That server was disingenuous and pretentious.
Be the first to ReplyThe best Carbonara in town.
Good vibes great ambience. If you think about Italian lunch meet up with your friends or family lunch dinner. It's great for all. Just love the space and food there.

Went for a work party and they had the best food and service and want to go back as soon as I can.
Be the first to ReplyIf I could give this place zero stars I would.
There's a reason they haven't claimed this business on Yelp. It deserves to be shut down. The manager of this dump deserves to be barred from this industry. His arrogance and absolute disrespect of his patrons is disgusting. The owners of this restaurant should know they've selected a clown to run their establishment. Horrid experience. Do not waste your time or money here especially in a city where we are spoiled for choice!

As soon as we walked in, the aroma of the cured meats, fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza, and traditional Italian pastries hit our nostrils. We loved the pepperoni pizza; the cheese was melty and they were very generous with the pepperoni. The carbonara was very good; the pasta was quite Al Dente and chewy which I liked, but definitely something to keep in mind if you prefer the softer fresh pasta. I liked the ceviche but wish it was a bigger portion size. Overall a great restaurant and amazing service, but definitely a bit on the pricier side.
Be the first to ReplySuperb my first time to NYC.
The Al dente pasta was my favorite. The service was excellent very attentive and always kept my wine glass full. Beautiful restaurant feels like you stepped into Tuscany
Be the first to ReplyWatch out for the host stand.
They don't honor resy reservations and try to sit you in tables that don't reflect what you booked. Plus they are rude.

If you're a pasta lover, you definitely need to made a stop at Il Buco. The pastas are lovely, as are the salads, and the portions are great. Not too big not too small. A definite go-to spot for dinner with friends and you won't be disappointed eating inside or outside. Definitely take advantage of the little market too, if you need some really yummy treats to bring home (or gift).
Be the first to ReplyDimly lit and intimate restaurant.
For the space, it accommodated a few larger parties. We had a party of 6, and we decided to order for the table to share family style. The food was good overall. Main highlights were the Roasted Beets, Prawns, Crispy Artichokes, and pastas. Cavatelli was my personal favorite of the three. We even ended the night with dessert. However, I must say, the server we had was quite snobby and pushy... He demanded we order everything at once upfront, but no one had dined here before, so we weren't sure of the portion size. We felt pressured and he suggested we order more, trying to upsell. We didn't and said we preferred to order more later if needed.Fortunately, we did not give in because there was plenty of food without overindulging, especially because we were also drinking wine/cocktails. We finished just about everything, except a couple bites and pieces of bread.

Sadly the days of Donna making you feel like the center of the world are gone. Apparently COVID took that Il BUco. They still have prosciutto but I'm not sure it's actually Italian anymore. They don't welcome children. I made efforts to bring my fanily here for Thanksgiving after what's been a tough year. We are the only reservation that is seated outside. They insisted they overbooked and had many tables coming. We were alone outside on thanksgiving. So disappointing. After an hour and half we are the only people. Never once did anyone form the restaurant check in. In fact each time I needed a drink (often) I went inside. I'm thankful that I got to go to the real Il buco back when the food and the people mattered. My wife just reminded me maybe this place is still Italian because clearly that don't give a shiz about anyones Thanksgiving

They charged us $14 for crappy italian coca-cola ????? They charged us FOR BREAD and claimed "it's fresh made" as well as many other restaurants who serve bread FOR FREE it was cold, crappy, with big chunks of salt on the side. It took them over an hour to take our order. They only offer italian wine so there goes your favorite wine you'd like to drink. As well as bolognese there none of that either. Pizza was good pasta was okay.

Amazing meal, not as great as the other il buco location hence the 4 stars. Still great ambiance and location.

I had a reservation for Il Buco for Saturday lunch and enjoyed my experience. Initially, my friend and I had planned to go for restaurant week but didn't realize their lunch restaurant week menu didn't apply to weekends because they had brunch instead. This is something that I wish they had clarified on their restaurant week menu, but either way, I had a decent experience. The restaurant is definitely more casual than the original location but was fun and felt like an upscale deli. The waiters were pretty friendly, and unlike some of the other reviews I've seen, I thought the service was pretty good. My friend and I split the fried artichoke appetizer, the spicy green olive pizza, and the bucatini cacio e pepe. The pasta and artichoke came before the pizza and were both great; however, my favorite dish had to be the pizza- for both value and taste. The artichoke was great but was a little small in portion for a $17 dollar appetizer. I also thought the bucatini was great and would order it again, but it was a pretty standard bucatini cacio e pepe. The one dish I was 100% recommend trying (if you enjoy olives on pizza) is the spicy green pizza. It was really unique and the flavors melded together really well.Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Il Buco. It is a little bit on the pricer side, but I do think it is generally worth it and would come back. There are interesting choices on the menu as well as some classics, and I enjoyed the three dishes that I got.
Be the first to ReplyI went with my friends to celebrate my friend's birthday.
The food was amazing and their service was even better! We had so much fun and we will definitely go there again!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is incredibly charming inside.
It really captures a special ambience/experience. I will say that the food was not incredible... The best part was the bread they served us at the start (which was actually quite good). The egg dish that I had was very oily. My friend got the Cacio e Pepe which she said was very dry. I would be interested to come back here for dinner at some point rather than brown
Be the first to ReplyDelicious as expected.
Charcuterie Board - great variety and selections!Steak Tartar - okay, not my fav.Octopus - pretty good but not as memorable.Fried Mini Artichoke - interesting and very addicting.Margherita Pizza - more like a flatbread we think. Thin crust very crispy, in my liking though.Short Rib Pasta - very goooood!Duck entree - delicious but a bit much in the fatty part. The grape and oatmeal side is weird.Branzino - good as expected.Service is a bit slow but it's a a big space. Overall is great!

I had lunch here the other day and enjoyed the atmosphere of nice food in a gourmet food store environment. The staff was friendly and the striped bass main course was cooked well with crispy sweet potatoes. We also tried the beets which were a good contorni. Overall, worth a trip

Il Buco was delicious! Tucked in the Bowery it's easy to find on the East Side of the city. We had a 6:15 reservation and were seated right away. To start a Peroni and a cocktail along with the olive oil tasting. 3 types of olive oils, light to dark served with focaccia bread for dipping. All 3 were amazing. One of my favorite dishes, cacio e pepi was on the menu and it was one of the best versions I have had. My friend loved the pizza she had as well. Very good service and overall very pleasant dining experience. We loved it!
Be the first to ReplyThe service was amazing, thank you Bill.
