Ippudo Westside New York Reviews from The Last Year
Not the best ramen I've had in the city, but it's a solid
Not the best ramen I've had in the city, but it's a solid spot to get rid of your ramen craving. The staff is quick and friendly and our service was great. We both got the SHIROMARU MOTOAJI ramen (one with pork and one with chicken) and we both added a marinated egg. The egg is a must add! The broth is rich and the noodles are nice and chewy. The chicken bun tasted like an elevated Asian-inspired McChicken (in the best way possible!). The dessert - the Yuzu Apple Tart - wasn't our favorite. It had an odd texture. I would also recommend having reservations. By the time we left there was a crowd of people waiting to be seated. If in the area, we'd come back again!

Spicy ramen was flavorful but, unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude and ruined the experience. The staff was very curt and clearly wanted to turn over our table from the moment we sat down. Felt very rushed. Upon paying the bill and leaving a tip reflective of poor service, the waitress came to our table with the tip circled on the receipt and questioned me about it. She proceeded to tell me that it was a low tip and that I should be understanding of their income being heavily dependent on tips. It was highly inappropriate and reflected poorly on the restaurant. Will not be returning.
Food was amazing, staff can be less enthusiastic but I
Food was amazing, staff can be less enthusiastic but I understand because the place is constantly packed. It has such an authentic ambiance and amazing anime drawings on their menus. Feels incredibly immersive and small-town vibes.
Solid ramen place to scratch that itch.
One sad part is that the typical toppings I'll see don't come with it so make sure to get that (like the egg for instance).

The service was swift and reliable! The restaurant is neatly tucked away and the vibe is very chill inside. The food... a true highlight of my trip to NYC!! The edamame was perfectly salted and cooked to perfection. The gyoza were some of the best I've had to date. The ribs were ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! The miso ramen was a bit oily, but the flavor was well worth it. I will definitely be returning!
Not Authentic
Not authentic. Not for a real ramen lover. What’s happened to IPPUDO? It used to be good. Totally changed. It’s not the place to experience real Japanese ramen.
Delicious food.
Never disappoints. Authentic broth and noodles. Sometimes a wait for a table but always worth it
Overall, ippudo was good experience.
The ramen was good, nothing extraordinary. I got the Karaka ramen which spice level was good, I expected it to be more creamier which is how i prefer my ramen. My boyfriend got the Yuzu Shoyu which had fish dashi which made it a lil saltier but still very flavorful. The customer service was straight to the point, my boyfriend mentioned they should be more hospitable. Such as asked if we needed more things, if everything is okay, etc. I personally love the lighting in the restaurant, makes the ambiance somewhat romantic. Even though, I hate how the two seats are so close to each other because if felt like the couple next to us, just listened to our conversation lol. but other than that, it was good.
The best ramen I have ever had.
Keeps me coming back to New York. The service is great and the cutest little restaurant. You will need a reservation because everyone loves this place.
Finally, trying the ramen and karaage at Ippudo Westside.
I left nothing behind in the bowl of Akamaru Shinaji. The broth is slightly thick, almost creamy. The noodles were al dente, if I may use this term with Japanese food. The red sauce adds another element to the bowl. That pork belly is unctuous. Now the karaage, I had to use my hands/fingers. It's appropriate when eating fried chicken, right? It was 2 chicken thighs cut in half thus 4 pieces. Perfectly cooked. The seasoning and coating is delicious. The restroom is beyond the black saloon doors. 3 restrooms: unisex, woman and man. The staff were patient with me and answered all my questions - I asked 3 or 4 questions regarding food and popular menu items. Everyone was happy and friendly with each other.
I love spicy foods and I loved the karake ramen as it
I love spicy foods and I loved the karake ramen as it maintained the creamy broth balance with the spicy flavor. I'm such a fan and came back twice to have this! It's a nice dinner spot and service was very fast
Such a bad experience…
What a disappointment! We had read some good reviews and we were expecting a nice eating experience with the family while visiting NY. We were not into the mood of ramen and we chose ribs teriyaki, tempura rolls, gyoza and chicken Kara-Age with and without rice. All our dishes were off taste and we left most of it although we were pretty hungry. As a last surprise, we were automatically charged of 20% tip by default! Just to complete the bad experience, my wife felt sick at night with the food she ate at this terrible place. We are usually not so critical, but this experience left definitively a mark…
Dependable and tasty place
We went for a pre theatre early dinner. We were a group of tour - had the must-have buns - with pork and with shrimp both were great. One sushi roll and three different ramens completed a very satisfying dinner
THE GIST: Ill-ease from loss of appetite from the obvious cattle mentality your treat customers with generic-for-profit
This review is about the Ippudo east side, trip advisor does not list this particular restaurant so suffice this review to mean Ippudo on Broadway in the east village... THE GIST: Ill-ease from loss of appetite from the obvious cattle mentality your treat customers with generic-for-profit slop There will be apoint very soon into your meal where you genuinely question your feeling of ill-ease coming from either eating too much or from losing your appetite. This could be coming from either the unprofessional use of the "F"-word by the personnel behind the bar counter reverberating around the dining room in plain sight and earshot of customers...or your instincts telling you to leave immediately may be coming from the fact that this place lacks any true "Japanese" sense in any aspect of a dining experience; sight (not one Japanese person working there that I could see anywhere...It's obvious the employees don't even like working their as blase and robotic personalities saturate each employee...this tells one quite a bit if you think a little about the reasons that a Japanese person would not want to work in Ippudo), sound was a cacophony of fake welcoming of patrons that lacked any depth of genuine "welcome", taste the pedantic and generic lack of quality in every single item on that menu, smell the air that reeks of generic-for-profit-lack of quality...and touch the side dish toppings for the ramen such as the pork and spinach and you'll be touching stale toppings that not one Japanese ramen restaurant I have been in while I lived in Japan would ever consider allowing to be a representative of their food. But GO! And spend the $100 for 2 to experience this bogus, cheap rouse yourself...but one thing to think of: The original owner, not knowing where they are eating would never return...And I END with THIS WARNING: Later after dinner you will be walking and you will be left with the remains of a very unsatisfied full feeling.
Miss the old place…
Sad because this used to be one of our favorite restaurants in NYC. Service has slowed tremendously. Rude behavior from workers. Prices doubled from what we remember. Noodles over done for the first time ever. Feels like a totally different place and now I’m scared to ever go back. Took 10 mins for a server to greet us. Had to ask twice for a paper menu. Anyway…I guess I’m venting. LOL
Nice food but give a tip or don’t came again
Nice food and good service only tip. Otherwise they need your visit . And don’t want you in the restaurant . I choose to give no tip and I was tell right away that I am not welcome in the restaurant . I should order the next time . To bad. Good food , a nice host . But the employee that give us the bill was rude and shouldn’t work in a restaurant
Excellent Asian restaurant
A nice surprise on a side street in NY, delicious Asian dishes, beautifully presented, good and efficient service, fair prices, highly recommended
Excellent
From the moment we stepped inside, we were superbly looked after by the very attentive staff. They genuinely all seemed to love what they were doing, and had a real camaraderie and team ethic. The food was delicious...we all had ramen, and we left very happy.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
