Jackrabbit Filly North Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
Finally had the opportunity to try it and my patience paid
Finally had the opportunity to try it and my patience paid off. It was amazing! Very busy for a Thursday evening so be sure to make reservations. The menu constantly changes but my understanding (we went with a regular who eats there often) some of the items are pretty standard or get slightly changed up. There is seating outside at picnic tables and then seating inside and the vibe inside is so cozy and nice. All food is served family style and they walk you through approximately how many dishes to order based on the number of people in your party. I don't think we had a single bad thing and we left so full! The karaage was my favorite and I need to try the sichuan version next ! They also have a pretty extensive drink menu with nonalcoholic options as well. We will definitely be back!!

The menu is constantly changing which I like because it forces me to try new things. I've yet to be dissapointed with anything I've ordered here. I'd say most of their dishes are pretty unique so a pickier eater may not love Jackrabbit as much as I do. We got the field greens which were made with bok choy. The ailoi and breadcrumbs on top made this dish. It was nice to have on the side of our main meals. The whole buttermilk fried fish that night was featuring catfish. I would have never thought to order this but I'm lucky the person I was dining with did. The fish was cooked and fried perfectly. It had the perfect crunch and pineapple & sweet and sour sauce was sweet and tasty. We always get the fried rice here since it's our favorite. A bit more of a simple dish, we get it without the ham. Jackrabbit is pretty good at accommodating pescatarians. We also had the chili tofu which had the perfect amount of spice. There was a nice kick but not so much so that you can't enjoy it if you aren't a fan of spice. It is sweet & spicy and both flavors are balanced nicely. We obviously got this dish without the pork. It's an interesting take to have tofu and gnocchi in the same dish but I love both separately so wasn't surprised I loved the 2 together. Drink wise we tried the "if you're a bird, I'm a bird" & the "hey guys, you ready to let the dogs out" both were very good and pleasant in appearance as well which we all know makes the drink taste better. I definitely recommend trying Jackrabbit and if they ever have the crunchy corn dish you must get that!

Food was excellent, interesting Southern take on Asian, like fried kimchi. The music was a little loud for us, I never understood having loud music in a restaurant where people have to yell at each other to talk so wasn't a fan of the ambiance. Service was great.
Pretty little place with delicious food.
Ordered the tuna tartare-delicious,. I think that was my favorite but difficult to decide which also. We had the pork dumplings and pierogi, everything was outstanding and great idea to serve at center for everyone to share and try them all. Loved it.

The food was incredible, a delicious twist on some of my favorite dishes. Similarly the service Dexter provided was top notch. Their recommendations were spot on. I will definitely be back. Loved the ambiance!

This absolutely my new favorite place!!! I came here with my husband for a date night and we sat on the patio. It was a little chilly outside but we knew we'd be outside and dressed accordingly. The wait staff was very friendly and the perfect blend of attentive and personable but giving us our space. We each had a few drinks which were great, and we shared 5 items from the menu. We absolutely loved everything we got!

I'm still learning my way around greater Charleston - I'll soon be a resident and need to be prepared to wow my guests with local unique cuisine - Jackrabbit Filly will be one of the top on my list! It's a short ride from Mount Pleasant to Park Circle, and it looks like this section of North Charleston is evolving into a foodie paradise. The decor at Jackrabbit Filly is casual and funky, the staff is enthusiastic and attentive and the food which to me seems to a fusion of several Asian cultures was beyond amazing. The four of us ordered seven plates to share and all were perfection! I can't wait to return and be a hero with my visiting guests!

My friends surprised me with dinner here and one of the most enjoyable and delicious meals I had in Charleston. Loved the story and background of the place, and the restaurant owners and chef knew their flavors and did their research on how to do fusion right. The most surprising dish was the crab rangoon, which seemed like something from a gastro molecular chef's menu. The wantons, noodles, and everything was just great. Balanced flavors of various Asian cuisine mixed with few European culinary techniques. The decor was industrial trendy with touches of various Asian decorations, mostly Chinese (could be due to lunar new year at the time) The service was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable but not pushy! Hope this place becomes a lasting institution in Charleston proper.
Delicious food and cool ambience.
The service was good as well. The food is well balanced and flavorful. Highly recommend.
I came here with a friend and we absolutely loved
I came here with a friend and we absolutely loved everything here from the food to the service. Every dish we got didn't disappoint. The fried chicken is some of the best I've ever had and we devoured the delicious dumplings. Every dish was amazing. We loved that it was family style too. Our server was very nice and attentive. I would come back here in a heartbeat. It's a fun experience and great food.
We were in town for a gymnastics competition and came here
We were in town for a gymnastics competition and came here for the dim sum brunch based on all of the glowing reviews. We consider ourselves to be big foodies but, in my husband's words, "this place is trying to do too much". An overview of the items we tried: Bread Service -- we love scallion pancakes and the ones included with this one were decent, if a little greasy. But the sauces on the side were too heavy - I believe mayo based - and we found ourselves wanting a more typical soy-based dipping sauce. The Chinese crullers were good and went well with the white sauce. Hot Karaage -- this was pretty good, chicken was juicy and well-cooked, definitely spicy! Probably the item we liked the most. Pork & Cabbage Dumplings -- the vinegar flavor was absolutely overwhelming and there was way too much chili crisp on top. My daughter, generally a dumpling connoisseur, would not eat these. Congee + Shrimp Ho Fun -- these were mostly fine but nothing to write home about. As for the positive: service was super friendly, the vibe here is pretty cool, cocktail menu looked delicious as did the drinks themselves.
Run to JF.
Drop what you are doing and go there. Sunday Dim Sum brunch is an absolute revelation. Easily one of the most spectacular meals we had in a city that is renowned for its food scene. Ordered 6-7 dishes and they were all clear winners, but the crab rangood dip, the pork dumplings and the pierogis were all standout. I live in Chicago, which is considered by many to be one of the top food cities in the world, and my wife and I would fly back to Charleston just to eat this brunch again. Go. NOW.
Different with a touch of taste
Not really a Chinese restaurant at all or Japanese for that matter but there were subtle hints eg pork dumplings . Casual but vibey. Food was a little cold when served and I’m not a tomato sauce (ketchup ) on fish fan - which for me ruined the snapper.
Avoid Avoid Avoid
We called ahead on Valentine’s Day and the hostess said she had room for us for dinner. We came, were sat and told that they had a reservation coming in an hour so we needed to order promptly (no problem). We ordered drinks and 6 dishes ($130 worth of items) immediately, 2 of the dishes came in 25 minutes and were great. We then got a tap on the shoulder from the hostess saying that they had moved all of our remaining food order to go and that they needed the seats. The bartender was not aware as she asked if we wanted another round of drinks. We told her what the hostess had just said and she didn’t say anything, brought the bill and another box for our food that we had been served and that was it. We were being kicked out. Nothing else was said other than your food is now to go, here’s the bill and that they needed the seats. Pretty ridiculous since the hostess said we could have dinner there, we were more than quick in ordering, and we were kicked out with a bill for $150+ within 40 minutes of walking in the door. Service was terrible and no one there could’ve cared any less. Go here if you want the same experience and want to eat to go “crab” fried rice in your car in the parking lot after being kicked out due to being busy.
Jackrabbit is a restaurant you will repeat.
My top favorite dish is the Karaage, always delicious. The spicy garlic krab fried rice is also a must! The perfect place for family style dinner.
Went here on a first date and left liking the food more
Went here on a first date and left liking the food more than my date!! Nestled in Park Circle, this place is a local favorite. Parking is available throughout park circle, but they don't have their own lot. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that the atmosphere was quite causal, but elevated. Once seated, I ordered a night swim sake. It's served in a can but I requested a glass to go with it. They also offer wine and beer options too. Entrees are served family style here, so keep that in mind when ordering. We ordered the hot karaage chicken, sambal vegetables, and house fried rice. The chicken was the absolute show stopper, it was perfectly crispy and mixed with the right level of spice. The vegetables and fried rice were also yummy. Heads up that the fried rice is a little on the sweet side. I left with plenty of leftovers and a promise to return to this place! (But not the with same date lol)
I met a friend here on a Sunday afternoon.
We sat outside on the patio which is in front of the restaurant on Spruill Rd. We shared three things: the shrimp and scallop shumai (4 steamed dumplings), the OG Chirashi (sort of like a poke bowl), and the house special egg foo young (seafood vegetable omelet). I would get all of them again- they were delicious and reasonably healthy :) The staff were attentive knowledgable and friendly.
We recently tried Jack Rabbit Filly for the first time!
We recently tried Jack Rabbit Filly for the first time! After looking at the menu online, we were SO excited since we love Asian fusion. We were specifically excited for the Kimchi Fritters. The presentation of all dishes were beautiful and the flavors were interesting. As for the dishes, we ordered the kimchi fritters, yellowtail tuna tartare, krab rangoon pani puri, hot karaage, pork & cabbage dumplings, and spicy garlic krab fried rice. Our favorites were the tartare, the hot karaage and the spicy garlic krab fried rice! The pani puri was such an interesting dish that we really enjoyed. The kimchi fritters were a big let down - you couldn't taste any kimchi, they tasted like fried hushpuppies. We asked for a side of kimchi and they said they didn't have any kimchi - only fried kimchi (which was a bit odd). Friendly and quick service! I loved the oyster chopstick holders. There are heaters for outdoor seating.
Reasonably good vibe in the restaurant, kind of Asian
Reasonably good vibe in the restaurant, kind of Asian fusion infused menu, mostly good except definitely avoid the "Singaporean Curry Noodles" since it has a weird pairing with yam and the noodles are blend without real curry taste. It's a flop. Waitress was knowledgeable and friendly though. A bit too noisy with people who drank too much. Other than that, it's a passable. Probably too much MSG because everyone in our party was so thirty and felt food was too salty. Cost $120 for 3 people. Just it's up there with the food scene in the touristy Charleston.
