Cool Japanese spot with affordable ramen dishes that is a step below the top tier but some impressive pork bun appetizers. $18 a person. 3.75/5 stars as a dinner spot.

I really enjoyed my bowl of spicy tonkotsu ramen! It was not as spicy as I thought it'd be after seeing the amount of peppers listed next to it on the menu. A friend got the ramen with black broth (pictured below) liked it but wished it was spicier. We asked for chili paste but it didn't help too much. It was tasty and hit the spot on a cold late winter day! Mainly not a five because we were sat near the door on a chilly day so I had to scarf down my food before it was lukewarm because of the chilly air.
Be the first to ReplyOur fav ramen spot in the neighborhood, if not all of NY.
The service is always excellent and the food is the besttttt. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I tell myself I'm gonna try something new every time I go, but lately I've been obsessed with the Mabo tofu dry ramen. I don't love tofu but force myself to eat it sometimes because I need the protein, but this one requires zero effort from me to eat because it's SO freaking good. It's spicy so only order it if you can handle the spice! I would eat at Jin Ramen everyday if I could lol
Be the first to ReplyAmazing ramen in an intimate space.
Staff was incredibly helpful and checked in throughout the meal. Service was fast and the ramen we took home was almost just as good when eaten the next day

Went here for lunch on a holiday, it was crowded but we were seated within a few minutes.Food was great, and we asked a hunch of questions to our server and she was very sweet answering all of them.Being a vegetarian, I expected just 1-2 options but there were quite a few to choose from and will definitely return to try more.Ambience was good and lively, tight spaces nyc style.

Cute little ramen restaurant on the UWS ~ we came exactly at 5pm when it opened and after 15 min it was already packed. We got pretty classic ramens: the Shoyu ramen and Tonkatsu ramen. Both were good but I wouldn't say they were particularly great or anything. But it's a great option for ramen/asian food in the neighborhood!
Be the first to ReplyOkay food.
We ordered the salmon tartare and spicy tonkotsu ramen. The tartare was good but slightly too salty and overpowering in flavor. The ramen was pretty good, I enjoyed the soup base, not too spicy and flavored well! There was also a good amount of noodles, but not a lot of meat or egg. There was one piece of meat in my bowl which was delicious, and only half an egg, which tasted a little odd. Overall, fair prices and solid ramen for a cold night.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my first time trying this restaurant, and the food
This is my first time trying this restaurant, and the food was definitely great, but not the best ramen I've had in the city. We started off with the Chicken Nanban, which were super crispy and flavorful! The ramen had a great level of spice, but the broth lacked a bit of flavor. It definitely hit the spot tho if you are craving ramen! The service was great, the food did come out super quick, and I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. I will definitely go back to try other plates!
Be the first to ReplyJin Ramen might be my favorite ramen place in Manhattan.
It's my go to comfort food when I'm trying to get quick take out AND my go to when I have friends visiting from out of town. It's delicious and affordable, and if you dine in, has a nice ambience.I tend to rotate between the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen or Volcano Tonkotsu Ramen, but have also gotten the Chicken Gyoza as an appetizer before. They are accomdating with the spice level and will serve it on the side if you request it. The wait time for both sit down and take out can be long, especially on the weekends. If you live close, I reccomend going there early to put your name down because the wait can be upwards of 30 minutes to an hour. Your whole party must be present in order to be seated.

5)my housemates wanted to grab some ramen around the upper west side, so we ended up at jin ramen! while they didn't accept reservations, the restaurant was not that packed for a tuesday night so there was no wait to be seated. the interior was so cute, with wooden furnitureand lots of lights. the presentation of the food was also very pretty! the service, on the other hand, was nothing special but did the job.-- -- --pictured:" spicy tonkatsu ramen ($19.00) // i thought that the noodles themselves were absolute perfection, thin and the right amount of give. the chashu and egg were pretty delicious too, so no complaints! however, i was disappointed by the broth, for it wasn't as flavorful or spicy as i had imagined. ** also tried my friend's volcano tonkatsu and the broth was not spicy at all-- -- --overall, i think this spot would be cute for a date night and i definitely want to try another dish because my experience might have just been based on what i ordered
Be the first to ReplyWe dined at the Amsterdam location and were seated inside.
Acoustically, it was one of the worst experiences I've had in a very, very long time. I understand that there was nothing that anyone could do about it in real time, but somehow we felt like we were in an ear-piercing sound tunnel. It wasn't just that we had a difficult time conversing, it was actually painful on the ears and not relaxing after a long hard week of work. The ramen was just OK, but OMG, the noise was off the charts. I will never sit inside again. I want to support local business, and I totally understand that things are tough right now, but someday, it would be great if they could put up some sound-dampening something.

It's the first time I ever tried a filipino inspired ramen! It's good but I'd probably stick to my normal go to Tonkotsu next time My partner ordered the black garlic one which is sooo good. The meat are so tender for both orders!

This place doesn't take reservations but I don't think the wait is too long. We tried this place on recommendation from my SIL, who we were house sitting for.The noodles are fantastic! It's everything I usually look for in a ramen restaurant. One thing in particular is that the boiled egg was warm, which was great! They usually come cold. Will definitely visit again.

I had ordered the vegetable ramen that come with a slice of pork in it, the sever take it away the ramen and convince me that I made mistake, I been told that she touched the food, it's tofu, but the kitchen would be so kind to remake me a new one anyway. The table we were sitting was very sticky as well just like the service, I have to put napkins under in case my stuffs get stuck on it.I'm pretty sure I tasted the meat but I was like ok maybe it's one of kind, vegan meat? till the remaking come with clear white tofu. I was shocked the fact that the server and kitchen didn't apologize and take this seriously at all.Plus, it's not good ramen, it does come with big amount of noodles if you are looking for full filling your belly with full of bullshit I do recommend come to Jin. (Vegan & vegetarian unfriendly restaurant)
Be the first to ReplyReally good ramen and fair prices.
The kuro shio ramen was really good. I think that the broth had a bit too much of those burnt garlic bits? So it was kind of bitter. The fried chicken was moist and the egg was perfect. The tororo soba was good and I liked the broth it had good ume flavor. The tororo part could've been grated better. The best part of these two dishes was that the new noodles were so soft and so fresh! They were honestly probably the best noodles. The restaurant is really crowded though and isn't very big. The outside seating in the tent building is fine but not a fan of the giant trucks speeding by at that close of a distance.

So delicious!! Great service, flavourful food, will come here anytime I can! The atmosphere is really cool too
Be the first to ReplySat outside and had the spicy tonkatsu.
It was a perfect lunch. Thank you, Jin Ramen for a delicious bowl for ramen. I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite dish here is the kimchi ramen.
I usually add extra Enoch I and brisket. This is a great casual dinner.
Be the first to ReplyVery good broths, delicious ramen in upper Westside.
Good service, a few outide seating tables, mostly indoors, cozy
Be the first to ReplySo delicious.
I love that you can really customize. I wanted to make everything vegetarian, and the server was knowledgeable about what contained meat (note: the eggs typically have pork in them if you don't ask for an egg without!) and helped me make substitutions. The food was wonderful. I got the tofu bao appetizer and a huge bowl of ramen with lots of veggies, tofu, and mushrooms on top. I will absolutely be back!

We came here because I was craving ramen and all in all, Jin Ramen was good! The ambiance in itself was lively, the place was buzzing with people. We still got seated at the bar pretty quickly and when we were done eating our waiter kept coming by to see if we were ready for the check, which I actually appreciated because to me it shows that they care about efficiency and getting the next people seated and eating!I got the kimchi ramen which was good - it wasn't the best ramen I've ever had but it hit the spot and I was overall really happy. My friend got the spicy tonkotsu which he let me have some of and I really liked that one. The portions were large and the topping to broth ratio was good. Oh and also we got the spicy salmon tartare as an appetizer which I thought was delicious!!
Be the first to ReplyCame here on an extremely chilly January day for lunch.
We were looking for somewhere to get warm and this place looked like the perfect spot. The place was packed, but the staff was very efficient at turning tables. We ordered the Yasai Veggie Dry Ramen and the Spicy Tonkotsu. The Tonkotsu had such a flavorful rich broth with just the right amount of spice. The noodles were perfectly cooked also. The server Niwesinee was very friendly. Overall it was a delicious meal while visiting the city. I would come here again when in town.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is great.
ย We will definitely go back. ย Really delicious, interesting food you will keep thinking about after and imagine you are eating again. ย Relaxed atmosphere that was cool (a bunch of classic Massive Attack and Portishead type music, giant pictures of ppl making noodles) but also kid-friendly (they cared enough to give my child a fork and smaller bowl). ย My daughter's review was that "this place is awesome!" ย I concur!
