Jitlada Restaurant Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Food is amazing as always.
Everything we ordered was so flavorful and delicious. They make their curry fresh daily. The dishes are best served spicy . We had jungle together prawn, morning glory lamb, shrimp jitalad fried rice, beef pad kee mao, soft shell crab curry. Too much food for 2 people but loved it so much that we had food to go for the next day. They are super busy - friendly and nice staff. I definitely recommend this place. Love Chef Jazz - she's the best!
Not for me.
My son was amped to take me to a Michelin Star restaurant and seeing that among the massive meat-based offerings, there were actually a few vegan-appropriate items on the menu, I felt this would be good for us. We came at a very slow time of day for restaurants, 5:45ish. One room of the restaurant was entirely empty and the other had maybe 5 tables taken. We got seated instantly and our orders were taken within minutes. After our server brought our drinks, it was the last time we saw him until he served the bill. Someone else brought the food out and no one checked on us or refilled water, etc. I ordered the Pak Boon Tai Lao from the Southern "Real chili, real spicy" part of the menu because I love super spicy food. It was listed as fried tofu with cucumber, bean sprouts, glass noodles and morning glory. I had never eaten morning glory before so that drew me to this dish. I thought it would be pretty flowers. It looked like spinach. A noodle dish should have plenty of sauce available. The shallow ramekin held maybe 2 Tablespoons of sauce and cucumber chunks. There were six narrow slices of fried tofu on a cup of noodles, 1/2 cup of sprouts, 1/2 cup of greens and 1/4 cup of sliced carrots for $22. ridiculous. If it had tasted unbelievably good, I would happily pay that, but this was so mindnumbingly blah. My son's $24 Gina BBQ lamb dish, also from the Southern spicy menu was about a cup of lamb chunks and a few veggies. He said it was delicious but there was so little there. We also had 4 vegetable spring rolls that were virtually flavor free, and which cost $10. I got a spicy mango smoothie which was good, with so many great mango chunks - well worth $6 and I thought it would be a good cooler for the meal I expected to be spicy. I ate all of the tofu and a bit of the rest on my plate but it was so bland it wasn't worth the calories. The tofu wasn't either, but I needed protein. When our waiter came back to serve us with our bill he asked if I wanted to take it home. I told him no, thank you, and it really needed more sauce. He answered that "he could have brought me more". When, dude? When you totally ignored us the entire time we were there? No one asked us how our food was and there were at least 3 on waitstaff at that VERY low volume time of day. Ambiance was okay - the tables are on top of one another New York style. There is a Homer Simpson drawing from Matt Groening on the wall (apparently he loves this place). The parking was nonexistent (had to park about a block away at a meter, again at a very early hour - and the meter only allowed for 1 hr max parking). I came very hungry and happy to pay whatever it took for food that was lauded on the Michelin site. It would have taken so little to be pleased. This was not at all pleasing and to quote Steve Martin's character from LA Story after going out to L'Idiot, "Gee, I'm done already and I don't remember eating." I will say that I accidentally left behind my sweater and the waiter did run out of the restaurant to find me and get it back to me. Nice touch. Thank you. Perhaps meat lovers have a fully different experience here but for this vegan, it's a huge pass.
Jitlada makes great food! Their menu is huge.
On their online ordering menu they mark some dishes as "popular" to help. We ordered the Coco Mango Salad (crunchy cashews and zesty vinaigrette-style dressing), tasty Cashew Chicken and tasty Vegetable Fried Rice. But the star of the show was the Kai Soi Chiang Mai curry, from the Specialty Curries list. I could eat that five days in a row! Like so many Thai restaurants, you can choose your level of spice. One note--we ordered using Yelp/Grubhub. The app said the restaurant would confirm my order since I sent it before 11:00, when they open. I didn't get a confirmation--and couldn't get them on the phone. But when I arrived the food was ready. Definitely recommend Jitlada!
Came to Jitlada per a friend's recommendation.
It's definitely a popular spot and you will likely need to wait a little bit if you come during prime dinner hours. The inside is small but quaint and decorated with lots of Thailand pictures and artifacts. Note the parking lot is also very small so street parking will be your friend. The service was good and the food was good as well! We ordered the Spring Rolls and Pad Thai and both were very good! The Pad Thai had very fresh noodles and I really liked all of the flavors included. I would come back here for the Pad Thai alone. My husband ordered the Oxtail Curry and sadly didn't enjoy it as much. The spice seemed like it was just there but didn't complement the other flavors and the oxtail meat was very slim. Don't think he would order it again if we went back. I will also note that overall their menu is on the pricier side compared to other Thai restaurants and the portions felt to be on the smaller side. If you're looking for a bargain this won't be the spot.
Food was delicious! Service was great! Nice and cozy
Food was delicious! Service was great! Nice and cozy seating. Will come back again.
Formerly good, now terrible.
You know why? It's the customer service. They treat you as though they want to make it hard. Want to call to put in a pick up order? No one picks up their phone, and at the end of the message, they tell you you have to order on the website. Want to place an order on the website? They'll wait until you get through the end of the order, and only then tell you if the restaurant is closed. (For instance, at 7 PM on a Saturday night, when no one would expect a restaurant to be closed, but there is, despite the posted hours!) This is so of a piece with Jitlada's whole vibe now: rudeness as marketing. 10-15 years ago, this place is great. Now, they are coasting on fumes. RIP. Go somewhere where the customer service is better.
Service was excellent.
Food was amazing. We loved the morning glory salad and the specialty noodles and sticky rice with mango, It was delightful to meet and talk with the owner and hear how she started the restaurant and won James Beard Chef honors.
Sad to say but this place is a pass.
I have been here twice since my family recommended me to come here but sadly disappointed each time. The wait can be expected to be 30-60 minutes which is not bad if the place was good but it is simply not worth it. The last time I went everything tasted bitter as if it just came out of the freezer. We tried many dishes but unfortunately nothing was good enough to finish and tasted below expectations. Not going to come here again.
I was in the area with family, and was craving some Thai
I was in the area with family, and was craving some Thai food so we decided to try this place. I really enjoyed the green curry beef, even though it was really spicy. The entire dish was flavorful, despite it being super spicy. There was a small wait prior to being seated but the wait was worth it! I would consider coming back to try other dishes on the menu the next time I'm in the area
Just ordered in thru a delivery vendor.
All in all this was a fail. For these prices the beef should be excellent and the portion sizes shouldn't be stingy! I got the Tiger Prawns with glass noodle, Khoa Soi with beef, and Jitlada's famous Crying Tiger beef. The bill came to over $90. I had high expectations because everything I've heard about this place was good and along with the high menu prices, I thought I'd get what I paid for. First thing I noticed was the small portion of the Crying Tiger Beef and tiny one inch hot sauce container with one slice of carrot, a two inch stick of bell pepper and a small piece of lettuce on the side. The few pieces of beef cut like fries, were not thinly cut like I expected. I liked the ginger marinade but was disappointed with the beef texture, too chewy and half of it was fat so what I was able to eat was maybe a 1/4 piece of steak. I was shocked they were so stingy with the best part, the dipping hot sauce. I wonder if they accidentally sent me an appetizer rather than an entree. I then tried the Tiger Prawns - which were small with overcooked hard edges . another disappointment. The Khoa Soi with beef was well flavored but the beef was awful, rubbery texture and stringy so all I could eat were the noodles and sauce. I guess they're buying cheap meat now?

Good Afternoon. It looks like you have requested a name transfer for Carbone NY. Unfortunately, this is one of the restaurants that is almost impossible to do name changes for. They don’t accept phone calls so they are difficult to change the reservations that were booked online.
