Great staff and service and food with unique Thai flavours
Stopped in for an early dinner without a reservation at 5:30PM, and secured a spot at the bar (perfect). Had a wonderful experience and great service from the two gents manning the bar, they really took care of me and made sure I had a lovely time. Highlights were the pork belly (best ever level) and squid (which is not as spicy as some claim it to be). Although I got in without a reservation, I would recommend making one since this is a popular booking in the city.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, ok service and good price
Food tastes great. I like crispy rice cake in hor mok and stir fried bok choy a lot. Service is just so so due to lack of staffing. Price is preety reasonable given location and Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyFor SF 1 Star Michelin, this ain’t it
Strange location for a Michelin star restaurant (inside a whatever SF hotel, not some hot spot or fancy hotel). No bathroom except for hotel lobby where you have to be given a key by the restaurant. When you’re in SF where a lot of food is really good, there comes a bit of expectation when there’s a Michelin star attached, and this just left our group with a “really?” feeling. Service was fine but a few dishes and drinks were missed, and had to be reminded. We had to ask for another bottle of water, when you’d think they’d notice everyone’s glass is empty. Food was good but some dishes better than others. (Beef cheeks and rabbit super yummy). Price was really high for what it was. Happy to have tried it but won’t be back. Either give me a bomb hole in the wall or give me excellent high end service, but don’t give me a weird hotel basic restaurant and charge me Michelin prices.
Be the first to ReplyNOT A MICHELIN STAR..........STOP THE LIE!
Sucha huge disappointment in both service and food quality. My dish and beer was served 15 minutes AFTER my wife's sandwich. Then the quality of the food was marginal at best. The service was abdominal as once the mistake of the incorrect dish was discovered the waitress hid in the corner of the kitchen and we didn't see here again until she was certain we were finished..........ZERO CLASS.........there is simply NO WAY THIS IS A MICHELIN STAR.............STOP THE LIE!

Good service and incredible food make this place a must. The massaman beef cheeks and the pork belly were a complete standout. Just do it.
Be the first to ReplyDecent food but way overpriced
Went with friends and were drawn by the Michelin star. Service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Wine list was decent. Cocktails o.k. The food is served family style. Food was not what I was used to in Thailand. More like a Thai inspired fusion cuisine. While the food was o.k. it is way overpriced for what it is. Desert choices are limited and while the panna cotta was good and refreshing, not really Thai. Will not go back. For the price you can find better Thai food.
Be the first to ReplyBest Thai I have ever had
Best Thai I have ever had. The set menu is so good value for money. Enjoyed every single bite. Super spicy, but hey, it’s Thai, it should be.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food in a very active restaurant with excellent service
We went there after seeing all the positive reviews. It is a very nice place with very attentative and active server that really put in a lot of effort so your stay is perfect. Food was excellent and they like to put every dish in the middle to share, which is really nice way to share and explore new food. Only if you want a quiet place. You might have to find another restaurant. But it felt right :-)
Be the first to ReplyWhat a delight!
A delight to the senses. Last minute reservation came in for the bar— and we took it. Brothers Brian and Garrett created a menu just for us. And it was perfect. OMG I’d go back for the mushroom hor mok. Then we had the Yum Polamai, pork belly, squid, and numerous drinks—- cocktails were delish and the wine list extensive and sophisticated. We were so full but the people next to us had the noodles and so we did a swap. Noodles were good but our things were way better. One of my best meals ever.
Be the first to ReplyGreat flavors!
Delicious flavors. Unpretentious great food. Best to order several dishes to share. Only problem is they served too fast. Will return soon.
Be the first to ReplyThe best
I love Thai food in general. This is the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to, bar none. The food is refined, delicious, innovative, and traditional, at the same time. Every time I’m in SF, this is a must. Service is also excellent.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it
Food mediocre, staff mediocre....but a high price tag. We asked about something suitable for a 9 year old and were told by our server the chicken wings are the only thing on the menu that would work as a children's meal. So we ordered the chicken wings~ for $19 we were served three (yes 3) chicken wings. We don't mind paying for a decent meal, when you get one. Unfortunately we won't be back .
Be the first to ReplyA different take on Thai Cusine
A Michelin Star rated restaurant in downtown SFO with reasonable prices. The food ingredients were fresh and we are overall satisfied with the service and experience. We recommend the caramelized pork belly and Plah Pla Muek (Squid)
Be the first to ReplyWanted us out before we got in
There’s no denying the incredible quality of the food here. It’s ultra spicy but that’s right up my alley. But they texted us to ask we come earlier than our 9pm booking then literally HARASSED us to leave as soon as our food had arrived. I am talking every single person working in the restaurant, including those who had not served us, coming over and making comments about closing soon, being the last people in there, etc. if you don’t want “late” arrivals then don’t advertise available tables at times your staff don’t want to be there. For a supposedly top tier restaurant this was disgracefully unprofessional.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Thai in SF
I've been coming here for years and was curious to see it post covid. Glad to see and taste an amazing food menu, constantly changing with delicious food
Be the first to ReplyOne Word. Meh
So we met some friends here for dinner while in SF. I was initially excited to try a Thai fusion restaurant, but....Meh.
Upon arrival, I arrived wearing a mask (no brainier). You are asked to digitally sign a disclaimer for COVID prior to being seated (also no big deal). I pull out my phone to digitally sign the disclaimer, and because I needed to authenticate with Face ID I moved my mask down just a small amount....I was IMMEDIATELY scolded by the hostess "SIR YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR MASK ON!" There was literally NO ONE within 6 feet of me. I understand the mandate but Jesus lady relax.
Anyway, we met our friends, we were seated, and began our order. The ordering process is all via phone ( no problem), but it's very convoluted. Each person orders on their own phone, and pays separately and the food all arrives at different times. Meh
The foods wasn't bad.... but it wasn't good either. Also Meh.
15 minutes later probably 4 different staff offered us to-go boxes, giving the impression that they wanted us to leave; Even though nobody was waiting to be seated...(I understand why)
Moral of the story? MEH.
Great Thai Food
I like Thai food. Very satisfied here. Excellent soups, noodles and other dishes! Not overpriced. Friendly and helping staff. Will come back again.
Well deserved Michelin Star.
Delicious Thai food
I came here with friends after a meeting in the neighborhood, and we were also exceptionally pleased with our food. We all ordered a bunch of different things and shared, and everything - the noodles, the soups, and the soup - were all delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyFirst night in SF
We didn't happen upon this place. I had researched restaurants before we left for SF and Kin Khao was high on the list so on night one we paid it a visit. We were surprised to find it as part of a hotel/apartment complex and to be honest, it wasn't the easiest place to find - kind of Union Sq meets Tenderloin region. We had to leave our names at the door and come back in an hour. We thought about it...remembered the research...and went back an hour later. It's very relaxed and we were seated at a long table with a few other people BUT, if you like you vegan/vegetarian food, then oh boy, this place is a must. We travelled for 14 days in California. We ate in some great places. At the end of the trip we both said "do you remember that first place in SF"?. Worth the wait! A must if you're a foodie. BTW, very friendly and patient staff too :-)
Be the first to ReplyThai with a elevated feel
I thought I knew what good Thai food was till I came here. Pork belly, charred squid, massaman curry beef cheeks and some noodles for my daughter is what we ordered. Everything was Soooooo good. Noodles were perfect for my 2 year old and the rest was full of spice! Our server was pretty direct but she took great care of us. The support staff was polite, helpful and sweet to my daughter. This restaurant has easy access from the street or the hotel parc 55
Be the first to ReplyMichelin star and great Thai cuisine
We went there by a recommendation of our neighbors and did not know until we arrived and checked the menu + check how the dishes looked on Yelp that the restaurant has a Michelin Star.
We were 2 couples and ordered the following:
-Mushroom Hor Mok: 5/5 this was delicious, it was a curry mousse with mushroom with some rice crisps. Super tasty.
-Sticky rice
-Plah Pla Muek: 3/5 the calamari were ok. Perhaps the sauce was too spice that you couldn’t enjoy completely the taste of the other ingredients.
-Yaowaraj Noodles: 5/5 our favorite dish from all. The noodles were incredibly good. Combination of great flavours.
-Mushroom Panang 3/5 the curry was a bit different from what we are used to. The taste was quite strong, and we think it had some cinnamon. It is a bit spicy also.
-White Rice
The quantity for 4 people was perfrct as we went there for dinner and we did not wanted to eat a lot.
The restaurant was great, they use top quality ingredients and dishes have distinct flavours.
Definitely if you want to have a great experience with Thai cuisine, go there!
Nice meal
Great service with very tasty food. Small restaurant so it maybe difficult to find seats but the wait is worth it. The rice noodles dish was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyVery noisy restaurant
While the food is good (nothing mindblowing), prices are steep and it’s way too noisy. Won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyGood experience!
Not exactly the food you’d find in Thailand. Very western-influenced fusion - the food is quite good but taste almost not Thai. Love the service and the experience anyway - about 30- an hour wait for walking in dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Lunch!
Dropped into Kin Khao for lunch and was lucky to get a spot at the bar. I ordered the pork noodle bowl and a side of bok choy. The service was fast and the food yummy! I would definitely return.
