A bit underwhelmed
I had read so many great reviews of this place, and was excite to try it. I went with my 15 year old twins. My son really liked his soba with duck soup. But my daughter and I found our meals underwhelming. The tempura was fine, but nothing special and very small portions. And the soba was good, but not something I would go out of my way for. It's possible we just aren't soba fans, and would rather stick with ramen. I think, if you know you like soba, this could be worth a try.

We had soba this time again one of us with tempura, just ultra delicate, the other with delightful duck in the soup noodle. Looking around at locals table, we decided that we will be more adventurous and try much more next time!

The food is quite unique and also excellent quality and surely the service as well. I like the plates and everything which may be irrelevant to most but it is so much better to food with them. A nice dinner made us feel relaxed and satisfied. They keep thanking but really thank YOU very much.

We loved our dinner at Kyourakutei! It was our last night in Tokyo and we were wandering around in the Kagurazaka district (which is lovely) and had read this was a good place to try. We are so happy we did! Everything was wonderful--down to the table settings and dishes. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining what we should try and how to eat the various dishes. Everything was delicious and we had a HUGE, Michelin-quality meal for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
This restaurant is in a fun neighborhood so save some time for wandering around. The food was of variable quality, some very good dishes but some kind of blah. I am not sure why this qualifies as an โessential restaurant on the Eater website.
Be the first to ReplySoba was great, so was the cucumber with miso paste
We came in relatively early as we heard about the lines, google map honestly took us the oddest way to get here as once we left we realised we were just a street away from the Main Street. I had the spicy soba noodles and we shared the tofu skin and cucumber with miso. Ordered a sake to share as recommended by the staff as the sake menu was in Japanese. Left feeling a bit hungry still

My wife and I got in the already significant line at 4:45 for the 5:00 opening. We were asked by the staff if we would share a table with two wonderful ladies in front of us in line and we all agreed. It turned out to be a wonderful evening with our local 'hosts' graciously taking us through dinner and the proper way to eat soba and tempura. The Japanese hospitality at the restaurant as well as our 'hosts'. The soba was delicious, the tempura perfect. The conger eel tempura was absolutely incredible and the tomato soba was delicious, a neat little twist on traditional soba with a slightly spicy tomato sauce. All in all it turned out to be a very memorable meal.

We had a lovely dinner in this restaurant. We arrived without reservation and had to wait 30min but considering the small intime size of the restaurant this was not so surprising. The staff was friendly and helpful and guided us through the dinner (first timers in Japan). The food was by far the best meal we had since we arrived in Tokyo.
