Interesting idea to connect appartments and restaurant with
Interesting idea to connect appartments and restaurant with the produce of the nice and well kept garden. The terrace with the light and elegant summer blossoming Albicia trees is quite relaxing. The lunch menu of the day for 25,- Euro was a good one, the starters and dessert excellent. The service experience was more of the serious type, quite reserved, but definitively professional. To sum it up - we liked it.

Having read raving reviews on other websites, I decided to invite them for lunch at la Fontaine aux Bretons. We were hugely disappointed. We each ordered a different 3-course lunch with wine. My starter was a gaspacho soup; sadly too salty. My main course was a ratatouille with truffles... that was the main joke of the meal....the potatoes tasted as if they spent too much time in a dark cellar - they tasted old. The vegetables were a tad overcooked, and were swimming in too much oil...the truffles tasted of...nothing but old dried mushrooms (they probably were chinese truffles). For dessert, the apricot ice cream tasted very bland....The recommanded wine for my meal, was a rather weak and uninsipiring rose.... To top it all, the service was slow, and the waitress wasn't either knowledgeable, nor customer-oriented, nor friendly. I am from the area (loire atlantique), hence usually eager to support local restaurants/producers and businesses, but this meal was a HUGE disappointment. If you are a food connaisseur stay away from this place.
