Good experience on La Lunita restaurant
I loved the food there and the service, they have excellent food. I truly recommend the Ceviche Yucatan. The view is impeccable.

We had an amazing meal. Seafood empanadas, lobster, risotto, tuna, and mixed fried seafood in a very light breading. Several delicious drinks. An accommodating waiter. Serving sizes were ample. I say this because there are some complaints here about pricing. There is no way we would have had this level of cooking for $55 USA per person, including a generous tip for the gentleman who waited on us, where we come from. And certainly not with this view! Don't go expecting a bargain just because it's Mexico. Make a reservation- it's easy. You will leave happy (and full).
Be the first to ReplyLa Lunita: exceptional food, service and ambiance!
Wow Wow Wow LaLunita was a fantastic experience! The view and outdoor tables in the sand felt so relaxing as we listened to the waves and watched the sunset and moonrise. Gorgeous! 😍😍 Service was TOP NOTCH and they went the extra mile to check with the kitchen to accommodate our need for gluten and dairy free. Def went way out his way to make sure health needs were cared for. Exceptional! Friend had shrimp paella and I had Sesame crusted Tuna. Beautifully prepared and very tasty. Chips and guac were the best we had in Mexico. And flourless choc cake and ice cream, plus drinks. All were just perfect! We would def come again. Not cheap but worth every penny, truly. Tips are not included but are only given in cash. So don’t forget to take care of a server if they are excellent like ours was. Well deserved!

Love the atmosphere and service. Food needed some revising, boring and not very flavorful. Martini didn’t have any alcohol in it or so little I couldn’t tell. can’t beat.the outdoor ambience with the moon and stars out. Atmosphere
Be the first to ReplyUsed To Be A Favorite, But Prices Have Gone Up Too Much
We have eaten at La Lunita several times over the last 5 years, and while we love the restaurant, food and simple oceanside ambience, we weren't happy with the pricing this last visit. We used to feel that we got incredible value at La Lunita, but at this point the prices are so high that we're beginning to feel underwhelmed by it. We noticed prices significantly raised at most places during this last trip, andd La Lunita was no exception. We didn't feel that our meal was worth the price that we paid.
Be the first to ReplyWHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!
Apparently if you don't have a reservation, you will be treated to bad service. At least the drinks came fast. We waited close to an hour for our food after we ordered. Never did we see our server. When the food finally came out first bites were cold. Warm may have been acceptable at this point in time. No one was in sight to tell them this. It was apparent this was not the kitchens problem. The restaurant was not busy and our server only has us as a customer. I'm not sure the food would have tasted any better if it were hot. 4 meals, 4 cold meals, 4 very unhappy customers. We finally got to talk to a manager. He apologized and took 10% of the bill. Never asked for that! It was a slap in the face for a highly disappointing dining experience. $18 usd isn't going to change the experience. What would have changed it would have been a server who paid attention to his customers. Still kicking myself in ass for leaving this guy any resemblance of a tip. There are better places to dine in Akumal. Taverna, La Buena Vida and Turtle Bay to name a few. All gave exceptional service and high-quality food.

We have been coming to La Lunita for years. It has always been one of our favorite special occasion restaurants. Tonight was a total disaster and will not return. The food was sub par: lobster tacos were tough, T - bone (off menu special) was thin and tough , like a Salisbury steak. A customer allowed his children to crawl around under our chairs Later the child was crying and having a tantrum. The parents did nothing. I brought this to the attention of the restaurant and they did nothing. When approaching the family the dad later accosted me and yelled profanities at me while the restaurant staff watched. Although the staff later apologized, it was too late. I felt unsafe and the food honestly was not worth the challenge.
Be the first to ReplyNice Staff - Expensive Food
The food was good. The wait staff was also good. The pricing was very expensive in comparison to the food and location!! For instance a bottle of water was 90 peso’s. Dinner for two, A hamburger, fish tacos, 2 bottles of water and 1 small dessert shared = $1000 peso’s! Word to the wise, be sure to apply lots of bug spray!!! We were covered in mosquito bites!
Be the first to ReplyJust ok…
Food was ok, service not the best as well, pretty expensive around $80 + tip for two meals and guacamole, no drinks. Also people next table was charged few times for the same drinks… so checks your bill ;)
Be the first to ReplyNice food, but check your bill.
We had a nice Christmas Day meal, but then noticed 2 extra drinks at the bottom of the bill. These were removed, but the server then had the temerity to remind us that the bill doesn’t include the tip. She had to be reminded that adding extra items to the check is not good service. So, check the bill if you eat here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and drink!
Stopped in here with family during a recent stay in Akumal. Staff were very accommodating when we arrived without a reservation. They had an excellent cocktail menu with something for everyone. The menu was diverse and all in our group enjoyed their meals immensely. They had several vegetarian and vegan options…the Kentucky fried king oyster mushroom tacos were incredible!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service. OVERPRICED
Met friends here for dinner. Seating right on the water or back further in the sand. Also has indoor restaurant seating. Service was very attentive. Good selection on the menu and the food was very good. Living here in Riviera Maya, I feel the prices were very high.
Be the first to ReplyNot what we expected
We were seated in the back of the property even though the front tables were empty. They had reserved signs on them. No one ever sat there . I ordered a Mayan Beef dish which was supposed to come with baby carrots. It was a large plate of shredded meat with one carrot on top. It was served with a side of tortillas. It was tasty but i found it vey hard to just eat meat , meat and more meat. I don't eat tortillas. More veggies would have been nice. My Fiance had sesame crusted Tuna which he said was very good. Service was just ok. So any other options , that we did not return during our 8 night stay.
Be the first to ReplyHas such potential, so disappointing.
This restaurant has such potential based on location and waiters…..but it is time for a new chef. Fish tacos ordered were under cooked. Tempura batter should be crisp and golden. Was soggy and fish was also soggy. French fries could also have used another minute or two in the fryer. My husband had the angus burger and thought it was alright. Nothing spectacular. The wine was good but so overpriced. The most expensive meal we have had on half moon bay and def one of the worst.

We went there last night for dinner, it's very pretty eating right on the sandy beach. We both ordered the coconut shrimp and it was a disappointment considering how expensive it was (it was overpriced). The shrimp was overcooked and the coconut was burned, so we didn't enjoy it sadly. We were there 2 years ago and it was absolutely delicious, so things have definitely changed. As well, the music they were playing (CCR) was awful. We are in Mexico, not a U.S. bar. It really spoiled our evening. I can honestly say though, the margueritas are still the best! That has not changed, thank goodness. We're not going to go back because they're too overpriced now.

The view is amazing!! The coconut shrimp are out of this world!! Service was great. The mangoe chutney and huge prawns were the best I ve had!
Be the first to ReplyWorst, overpriced meal ever
The prices are high, but it was to be our splurge night, you don’t mind paying for a good meal. It was a huge disappointment, I ordered fish of the day with clams & shrimp. The fish was over cooked & bland as was the sauce it was in, the 3 bland were the weirdest, stringy things the one shrimp was ok, 2 baby potatoes tasted good but were cold, this underwhelming meal was $520 pesos! The $180 peso margarita was average. The venue was nice, staff indifferent. My companions had burgers they said were ok, st least the portion was large. The others had sushi they said was good, very pretty presentation, but not as good as the place at home (inland…in the mountains…population <10,000. Do all in all can mot recommend this place, will not go back. Try Turtle Bay Cafe & Bakery, way better!
Be the first to ReplyAs if Chef called in sick!
We were hoping for a better turnout but out of our 4 orders (2 appetizers and 2 main courses) none of them were edible. We ordered the shrimp and stuffed poblano for starters. Apparently the best way to ruin a deep fried Shrimp is to undercook it! The pepper was stuffed with plantains which made it unpleasantly sweet. For entree, the bone marrow was cold and the steak tartare was more of an onion tartare. I wonder if chef had called in sick! The kitchen staff overall did an amazing job in ruing all our orders one after another. Respectfully we paid the bill and enjoyed our home made peanut butter sandwich at our place.
