Le dejeuner dans le conservatoire
In Easter 2017 i returned to the L'Esandon following the closure for renovation. I had dined many times over the years and I found every aspect to be perfect. However, I was shocked to find on my return that le dejeuner was served only in the concrete floored conservatory. It was not the same experience. The food was perfect, but the staff were a tiny bit condescending. They meant well and i could see the two of them were not completely experienced so i glossed over the atmosphere that i know they did not mean to create. I was on a little on edge in the strange surrounding Sadly, there was only one waiter on duty from the old days. He had been promoted to manager. He was charming. I prefer to luncheon in more elegant surroundings and now i find that a banquette table in the cosy part of the Bar Vendôme to be excellent. Merci Liam

Les Jardins de L’Espadon is outstanding in every way: the decor, ambiance, service, cuisine! For main course I had roasted scallops plus, with a sauce that was so delicious that I ate very slowly to prolong the pleasure. The chef circulated among the guests. There were several extras in addition to the amuse-bouche.

Went for dinner with an American friend. Food was overall solid - though not mind blowing. The lamb dish reminded me of several I have had over the years at similarly priced/rated restaurants in Paris, London or NYC. Service was rather good and not overbearing. One thing that bothered me, though, was that I had asked before dinner if we could have a barquette dessert and that they wrote back it’s only sold at the Vendome bar at the Ritz (which I knew but that’s precisely why I asked, so that my friend could taste it). Didn’t think it was great service at a hotel of this category (why couldn’t they arrange a takeaway anyway?) but left it at that. During dinner though, I was surprised to see another Vendome dessert (the one that looks like a Madeleine) to the table next to us with a candle (I assume, for a birthday). Hard to swallow.
