Be the first to ReplyWe had such a lovely experience at the counter for dinner
We had such a lovely experience at the counter for dinner on a Sunday night. It was hubby's birthday so I emailed them ahead of time, and they were so cool in seating us dead center of the counter So we got to see the action up close and personal! Typically, we like privacy when we dine so while I knew that while it may not be Hubby's first choice to sit at the counter, we both loved it and felt like it was one of those super unique experiences. The night before, we had a spectacular meal at La Tour D'Argent which we visited on his last milestone birthday So we didn't expect Pavvylon to top the experience and meal, but it was an equally wonderful meal and experience. The food was pretty spectacular especially my langoustine tartare in this buckwheat tuille. We then split the cavatelle with lobster....imagine a sauce of lobster bisque but not as heavy. We also split the lasagne...how do they get the pasta so finely sliced between the layers. Hubby had the most amazing sea bass....it was almost Asian in flavoring. I ordered the hare, which to be honest, didn't love. It was too rich, and the dark mole-like sauce (not sweet and a little bitter) just didn't work for me. I wanted to swap with hubby for his dish!! Dessert was very good...light on its feet so good way to finish dinner. The deconstructed pear tart that hubby ordered was damn good. The service was impeccable, and it was so fun to watch the kitchen and chefs work its magic on our food. We were so lucky that we sat right by the chef assembly area; the head chef was so gracious and stopped by several times to talk to us about the preparation since I had questions. It was one of those special experiences that will turn into a great memory.

This was such a unique and memorable experience to wrap up our Europe trip! We arrived in Paris an hour and a half late from flight delays, and were traveling since 6 am that morning. I was so past the point of exhaustion, I wanted to cry thinking about having to put on a dress and go to dinner, but I am SO glad we pushed through. From the minute you walk in, you are treated with such respect, and everyone from the sommelier to the pastry chefs display such a deep passion for cuisine artistry. We ordered about 10 dishes, and all were so unique and complex in flavor, and watching the chefs work their magic in graceful chaos (btw, highly recommend sitting at the counter) was like watching 20 mini Picassos creating masterpieces.

it was as though I was eating the same dish for every course. the food and attention to detail was astonishing even with the overpowering five spice essence.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the 3 Michelin star Alléno Paris
This review is for the 3 Michelin star Alléno Paris restaurant. Took my wife to Paris for her 50th birthday. Treated her to a Michelin starred restaurant everyday for 5 days. Alléno was the final restaurant on our list. Dimitri from Alléno called before we left Los Angeles days prior to inquire about our reservations. He noted any allergies, and what my wife typically wanted. In addition, he requested a photo of my wife and to attach any message for her personalized menu. I humbly requested to have her menu also signed by Chef Yannick Alléno too. I was not disappointed! My wife was floored seeing her picture on her menu. Everyone who served us that night from the front door up to the dining area was exceptional. They were friendly, warm, & quite attentive. The ambience of the place was classic, charming, & warm fully inviting. The food served that night was nothing short of spectacular! The kitchen was firing on all cylinders. I was getting heart flutters every time a new set of utensils were being placed on our table in anticipation of the next dish! This placed capped off our Michelin restaurant tour with a loud bang! It was a delightful dining experience from the instant we walked through the door, & up to our departure. This place will clearly define what the difference is between a 1, 2, & 3 star rated Michelin restaurant. An experience never to be forgotten! Thank you everyone at Alléno Paris. Well done!!! Merci beaucoup from my wife & I.

Walked in this Michelin starred restaurant with no reservations. The best seats are on the counter watching the chefs prepare the curated meals. It was pricy and the experience in itself was one of a kind. It's like a tasting menu option. There is a wine-pairing option too. The highlights were the cheese souffle with foie gras, sea bream, cheese plate, and dessert. Armagnac to cap the evening was a nice touch. Service was top notch from the front of the house to the sommelier and down to a squad of chefs and line cooks.

Paris, France. Dinner with wife. My last visit was 20 years ago for a corporate event where we took over the entire restaurant for a paired wine tasting dinner. I thought it was terrific then and promised myself to return. It was just one restaurant then. It's now 3 and they're all Michelin Star-rated. You can sit at a table inside or outside, or a the counter which offers a great view of the chefs preparing meals. Our table was right across from them so we could see/here everything going on. The service was smart, efficient, helpful and friendly. All speak heavily accented English which takes a little effort to comprehend. There's a large wine list, with a significant selection of very expensive wine. We opted for a glass of rose champagne as a cocktail and then Pinot Noirs by the glass. Interesting that they kept topping off our glasses but charged us only for the one glass. We shared a cheese soufflé as a starter. Terrific. Our mains, beef in a peppercorn sauce and rack of lamb. Terrific both. We ended with cheese plate and salad and the chef sent lemon sorbets as a complement. This is one of the best restaurants we've eaten at. Highly recommended.

We scored a good seat at the observation bar so we had a first class show of the chefs hard at work. Everyone should splurge on a "show" like this if you can afford it. If you watched Bear on Netflix you will be used to the chef barking an order and the response being a resounding "chef" or "yes chef" by the kitchen. The wine list was pretty insane from a price perspective but we found/ got directed to a great French red. The pictures of the food say it all. There were a couple of "Meh's" in the lineup. The ravioli soup didn't work at all from a taste and texture perspective and the vanilla foam dessert was more of a pallet cleanser than another course. We were rushed through the first few courses which were off putting and there was no real engagement with the servers about the food which is normal course for this setting.

I wrote a scathing review a few years back, but my opinion was completely reversed by the incredibly professional, conscientious and admirable response from the restaurant and even chef, himself. Restored my faith in the integrity of great institutions like this. They actually do care. It really is their mission and purpose to be the best they can be. They listened. Enjoy!

Be the first to ReplyThis is a 2 part review first for the 1 Michelin star
This is a 2 part review first for the 1 Michelin star Pavylon gastronomic brunch. Perfect refined setting, enjoy sunny day at the park in their garden setting. Badaboam eggs filled with eel and caviar is like tasting jewels of the seas, sea bass and lobster all done to perfection, have never had lobster so tender. The cordon bleu was divine, kids devoured in a minute. The review for Alleno, the 3 Michelin star dinner service. The restaurant reaches out days in advance to learn your preferences and names of the dining party so that they can properly address you, and know of your likes, potential allergies. Setting is very upscale and semi-private with translucent decorate screens, view of Champ-Elysees park and Petit Palais. You can dine a la carts, or if you have 3.5 hrs you can enjoy the tasting menu. All bites full of flavor, elegance, luxury.

First, please note that there are three separate restaurants at this address; this review is for the Michelin three star restaurant, Paris Alléno. The restaurant is beautiful. The wine list is as extensive (and overpriced) as anticipated. So much for the positives. The cuisine was elaborate but borderline inedible (sometimes crossing the border); the head waiter who attended our table was annoyingly familiar and condescending; and the wait staff was otherwise poorly trained, confusing the dishes ordered by different guests and even bringing the birthday cake to the wrong guest. Not expected in any fine-dining establishment; much less one awarded three stars. A total waste of time and money. Several days later we dined at Guy Savoy, another three star restaurant, and it was wonderful. We have also had an excellent experience at Pierre Gagnaire, another Paris Michelin three star restaurant. We have learned the hard way that the three star Michelin rating is only an indicator of potential quality; it is not entirely reliable. Good luck!

Extremely pleased to visit the Pavillon Ledoyen during our stay in Paris. With the 3-star Michelin restaurant still closed upstairs (reopening in September) and was crowned #25 Top Best Restaurant, we booked the counter seats which featured 2 price-fixe menu (150 Or 250 euro) as well as the a la carte option. The Dom perignon 2010 was offered as part of the by the glass program at 55 euro which is quite a steal and very enjoyable. We opt for a la carte and chose the shiso leaf tempura with caviar and the pigeon, both were executed well. Pigeon was served medium rare, thinly sliced with a garlic pesto like sauce that was extremely tender. The lobster bolognese was a bit over-salted. There were some confusion over our reservation (we did not reconfirm our booking as I figured it was a credit card secured reservation they charge you if no show) but I have to say they recovered miraculously - that's what a 3 star Michelin star front of the house is about!

As many of the reviews mention, the food is creative and the service is very good. No doubt about it. But 5 and a half hours for a meal from start to finish is simply too much. It left us feeling quite restless by the end. The menu and the distribution of heavy and light food also felt a bit uneven. All this said, it is a very nice experience. The wine pairing was spectacular. And they were very good about accommodating allergies and dietary preferences (one of the few restaurants to check right at the beginning). We are happy that we dined here, but compared to other 3 Michelin star restaurants we have been to, Alleno won't be one of our most memorable experiences as we were hoping. Also : sorry to be a bit picky but quality caviar should absolutely not be served with a silver spoon.
Be the first to ReplyOpulent with grace, Alléno Paris au Pavillon Ledoyen will
Opulent with grace, Alléno Paris au Pavillon Ledoyen will satisfy any idea of what French fine dining should be. Grandiose is the word that Ledoyen uses to describe itself to would-be dinners and this is one of few times that venue's self-awareness is spot on. Besides being located in the already historic champs-elysees, the simultaneously large yet "intimate" dinning hall is a swanky even for the most seasoned dinners. Frescos, statues, walls comprised largely of windows, all with original furnishings, you feel transported back into history. When you enter the venue, it is slightly modern downstairs but the dinning hall is literally from 18th century that sends your mind into another world of experience. If you're into the history sort of thing. Tables, fixtures, chairs, while simple are still elegant and complimenting to the hall they are quietly placed within. This feeling of elegance is heavily driven by the venue itself, the furnishings compliment this all nicely. Treats to the start the meal were fantastic. One bite was smoky, robust and placed atop a giant cheese rind. Another was a creamy tart, that was almost like a kids treat reminiscent of jerky (in a good way), placed atop a large bone. They were verbose flavors that awaken your tongue while having a on-the-nose presentation that is visually impressive. The modern blanc-manger was extremely odd - it wasn't sweet as you would expect it to be, rather mild. The Violin zucchini salad was lightly salted and accompanied with the perfect amount of stone fruit, very gorgeous presentation however I could not taste the subtle verbena. The delicate crab remoulade was perfectly plated - I cannot stress how pretty the plate looked to my eyes. It stood above the plate, with tiny red specks on the crab jelly. First time I had something like this - crisp and gorgeous. Fermented elderberry lychee plate was cute, like something from a cafe. It was creamy, light on the asparagus and the lychee was the right amount of sweet. The importance of the Noirmoutier island white asparagus was lost on me as I'm not deeply educated on food, but it was a highlight adventure of textures. From the vegetable primary to the sweet and savory flavor of the sauce on the side, something like vanilla and mushrooms. Even the dehydrated parts of the plate had a different taste, citrusy. Very complex dish, while plated strangely was intriguing with all its textures and tastes. One disappointing part of the meal was the Wagyu beef served with Paris mushrooms. This is something I'm unbalancing in my review due to the complications in traveling/eating in a translated language. I made an assumption that the dish would be served with mushrooms on the side or as a bed of mushrooms due to the title of the plate - this was MY mistake. The wagyu was sliced in a way were the mushrooms were placed in between each slice of meat, giving the plate a very different taste than I expected. It was almost bitter but the au ju that accompanied the wagyu was also very overpowering. Lessons learned to clarify when expecting something in another country. It was a strange food-experience. The lettuce fondue flavored with beet was not my favorite either, however that's not the restaurants fault since I ordered it still. The transition to sweets was fantastic though - the first dish was well balanced with the amount of honey. There were little flakes and pine - not what I was expecting but it made the experience great as it was a story told through a meal. Most venues shift you so abruptly to dessert, this was a transition phase and it was welcomed. Languedoc cherries cooked in a greek style were a perfect temperature, but the red cabbage vinaigrette was atrocious. Who puts red cabbage with cherries!?!? Again, mushroom isnt my favorite but the Mushroom Marshmallow wasn't bad, the chocolate seasoning paired well to bring out the earthy tone but the apricot stole the show. The light meringue flavored with hazelnut and mushroom, was by far the weirdest thing I've ever eaten. On top they shaved a chocolate-covered-olive-infused-rice-crispy-treat. That's right, they shaved that on top of a meringue that's already flavored like mushrooms. It was so many things at once - but their sum did not total a delicious whole. A+ for creativity, but if you're not into mushrooms, this is not the dish for you. The ice cream / foam however, had literally the best strawberries of my life so this washed away the meringue experience. Unfortunately I did not capture a photo of this. Sorry for spending so much time on the food. While two dishes were misses for me, I blame myself for not asking more questions so do not detract that from the overall score. An experience is something exemplified in this venue and I highly recommend it. Also, not to footnote this commentary but the staff were 100% - Extremely professional, attentive, friendly and welcoming.

All I can say is that when I sat down, they immediately informed me that they got the note about my allergies and to not worry, that I can order ANYTHING on the menu and they would accommodate.I stared at the waiter wide-eyed and slack-jawed and I think I even stopped breathing. Above and beyond. They truly know how to take care of you. Plus, most romantic dinner ever.

Horrible service water and tea left empty for a while. When my tea was done they didn't ask if I wanted another just took it away. Server bumped into me running to re fold someone from another tables handkerchief. The food was disappointing just to cap it all off. Usually not a stickler for service but the cold attitude and for the price I'm paying ????

I will start with the service - the service here was simply impeccable. We asked a ton of questions about the food and how it is made, etc., (especially the truffle as we were especially curious about that) and they really knew their stuff! It was impressive.Everything we had was great, but the risotto was my absolute favorite. It was amazing. I was so full by the time I had my risotto, but I could not stop eating it. Our waiter grated the truffle on top of my risotto and it gave it an amazing kick. It is difficult to describe white truffle if you have never had it before, but the smell alone will trigger your inner foodie and you will have no choice but to try it. It is, of course, quite pricey. BUT, if you are looking for a true French restaurant experience with beautiful Victorian decor, I highly recommend this place. Also, do note that the dress is formal - meaning men and women are expected to wear blazers or a nice top. Sneakers are not allowed. We did not know about the dress code beforehand, so a blazer was provided.

Set in a French Chateau on the Champs-Elyees, Pavillon Ledoyen is a three-star Michelin restaurant (supposedly life changing). The setting is beautiful. The service, as you would expect from a top tier Michelin restaurant, is impeccable. The food, even for our shortened lunch service is excellent. The seafood mushroom soup was especially amazing; the fish stew was pretty filling as well. The cost is obviously astronomical. Overall, I think this is barely worth it.
