One of my favorite meals during my visits to London last
One of my favorite meals during my visits to London last year. I was in Shoreditch and decided to have dinner here. Easy enough to get a table when you're dining solo. The cocktail list is splendid and I ordered the Smokey Monkey cocktail along with the namesake dish and the shan noodles. Generous portions and moderate price point. I loved the combination of mango, chilli and smokey whiskey in the drink. And I enjoyed lahpet (pickled tea leaf salad) for the first time. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend it!

Very good restaurant with a combination of tasty rice bowls and noodles with either meat, fish, or vegetarian options.Service is friendly and the place is quite cool.

We enjoyed our time here! The food is very yummy! And I think the best part is the service but don't get me wrong, it's not that the waiting staff went out of their way to help or anything - they did what they could and beyond, but what impresses us the most is that they don't over attend to you and make you feel uncomfortable. They attend to our need as we requested and never disturb the table too much so we can actually enjoy the food and our company. It's so rare to have these days! All their food was exceptional but I would urge you to try the lamp lahpet! Super tender and flavorful- definitely give it a go if you don't mind lamb!!
Be the first to ReplyWe tried about six things and all were delicious.
Many were layered with deep flavors and we had a variety of textures--from some soup-like dishes to more rice based ones to a lentil one. All the dishes were a good size as well. The space is intimate, but lively and we were lucky not to have to wait (party of 4 about 7 pm on a Friday). The cost was quite reasonable, too. About 106 pounds for four people, including three glasses of wine and a beer. I would come back!
Be the first to ReplyTop 5 meal of my life.
Everything exploded with flavor and drinks were great, too! Highlight would be the pork curry and salads. I want to eat the entire menu.

I went to Myanmar 5y ago and could not wait to try this local Burmese joint. Like others have said, the menu takes a modern approach to traditional dishes, the decor is definitely Eurasian and slightly kitschy but the food is flavourful and vibrant and the service warm and responsive. We had the salad special - a v spicy chili laced scallion heavy starter that set my mouth on fire in the best sense, the margarita for me and the G&T for him (loved mine, he didn't care for all the added fruit profiles in his), the pork curry and coconut rice for my main and the lentil bowl. The mains were delicious - not hugely distinctive given the various continental flavours fused into it, but fully comfort style and unique from other cuisines. The dessert menu left much to be desired, as if an afterthought. Semolina cake, sorbet and ice cream? I was full so this wasn't a big letdown but had I was definitely seeking a strong closing note and the mixed berry sorbet felt out of sync and unrelated to the flow of the meal. Prices v reasonable. Will be back to try the noodle/bowl options.

This quaint Burmese restaurant is exactly what I have been looking for..... incredible food that qualifies as more of an experience.First off, the ambience and service were top notch, but the food is what makes this place truly unique.I ended up sampling most of the menu: Paratha, ginger salad, coconut noodles, pork curry, hale masala, and a couple others. Every dish was something special: incredible flavors, quality ingredients, and a creative menu that will likely please and tastes. Even the ginger salad, which to be fair salads don't really hit home for me, was one of the best I've ever had.The main dishes were all unique in their own right. It my first time trying Burmese cuisine and anticipate similar flavors to other south Asian curries/spices, but even with small similarities these dishes deserve their own category. One of the best meals you can ask for, and great cocktails as well.
Be the first to ReplySuper cool place for a meal with great, helpful staff.
We were greeted and seated on New Years Eve (7 pm) without a reservation, even though they were clearly busy. The menu was explained to us very clearly, and we felt like we had a just right meal for our appetites. Can't miss: the fancy cocktails. Terrific gin and tonic with blackberries and safe!

This was my first time having Burmese food, and it was a very good first experience! The ginger salad was absolutely phenomenal! I also had the King Prawn Curry, and the house rice as well, both of which were exceptional! I will definitely return here when I am in London and highly recommend it to anyone who is there!

This place has soooo much potential! The service and location overall are 5/5 but the food is just pretty to look at with no intent of taste. The salad we ordered looked like the chef was just adding random things together in hope of a master piece. If you never had tea leaf salad I do not recommend there's a reason for it. It had a strange taste and which the table next to us also ordered and left untouched after the first bite. If your friends made reservations here and you have to go- I highly recommend the coconut noddles they were good nothing special. The waiter did however recommend getting rice so we did thinking it would be kind of a curry.... yea no rice necessary she was just trying to sell £5 extra- the noddles is enough.

I am ethnically Burmese, and was traveling in London when one of my friends who lives here told me about this restaurant she wanted to try. We made a reservation for a Friday night at 7pm and came promptly. The restaurant was mostly full at the time we came. We ordered three dishes to share between us, the Shan noodles, the tea leaf salad, and the king prawn curry. Despite the restaurant being a modern take on Burmese food, the menu items were very much rooted in tradition, and all were exceptionally delicious. The ambience is cute and trendy, with the walls and decor in pop out colors. Service was very friendly and efficient, and prices are average for London, about £15 per dish. Would highly recommend, and definitely will be back next time I am in London.

Food was tasty and delicious and the vibe/atmosphere was fantastic. A busy restaurant with a ton of variety on the menu and lots of vegetarian options. Drinks menu is also fantastic. Tea leaf salad had wonderful flavors. The lentils with glass noodles was absolutely amazing. Had a great experience here and will come back.
Be the first to ReplyA unique and wonderful experience.
The food was interesting and enjoyable, the wait staff helpful and cocktails tasty. My family and I had intended to have dinner at another restaurant however it was closed and walking through the neighborhood and we found this little gem. We had never had Burmese food before and didn't know what to expect. I started out with salads one of which was the tea salad which I enjoyed thoroughly unique flavors. The ginger salad was also really good. The main courses were also very good we enjoyed and a pork curry and a lentil dish as well as a fish dish all prepared beautifully. We got to the restaurant late and the staff were incredible helping us figure out what our meals would be despite the fact that it was just before closing time. The interior of the restaurant was nice very modern style Suited to the trendy area. I would highly recommend this place
Be the first to ReplyThis is a lively restaurant off of busy Brick Lane.
You'd never know this was an Asian restaurant. The interior oozes western design and the small tables really aren't set up for Asian family style sharing. That said, the food is pretty good. The mains were the stars with the shrimp curry coming with two massive prawns doused in a lovely slightly spicy tomato sauce. The aubergine had been cooked down to a fall apart mess. Very tasty too. I was less impressed with the starters. The fritters were just deep fried stuff, the best feature that they were crunchy. The pickled tea leaf salad had a really off putting flavour. I am not sure what it was as it came and went. My friend couldn't eat it. That said, they serve carafes of wine (woo hoo!) and it's a fun, buzzy atmosphere.
