Lovely hotel in a lovely town
Just stayed for one night, but it was a charming and comfortable experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, and it feels like a quiet oasis removed from the hubbub of tourist activity. Very, very comfortable bed, in a nicely appointed room. All of the staff were engaging and helpful. i would not hesitate to recommend it. A minor drawback might be the functionality of the bathroom, as others have mentioned. While visually stunning, one needs to be careful about the floors becoming too wet and therefore slick. There also isn't much storage space for toiletries. But these were only minor items compared to the overall loveliness of the experience of staying at this charming hotel.

This is a stunning hotel extremely colourful with interesting things round every corner. We made the mistake of trying to reach the hotel by car! we should have read the small print or rung before trying to navigate the tiny roads in Arles. In the end we rang and were informed we should park at the parking garage in town and the hotel sent a shuttle to fetch us from the secure parking lot very efficient. We found the staff, professional, helpful and friendly; we didn't eat in as the menu seemed a little strange but what I saw looked delicious and I wish we had been more adventurous!

This place has the kind of hospitality we love. Genuine. After Covid we figured we were always lucky to just have a hotel open. That’s all we expected, no service, no towels, no pleasantries and barely a hello. The rooms are a delight. Beautiful and whimsical and very very clean. Spacious. The grounds immaculate. I’m sure it will get popular and the price will become ridiculous but it’s a gem. Enjoy Arles.

L'Arlatan is an absolutely stunning and elaborate creation. Everywhere you look is stylish and original. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were quiet and dark, and we all slept well. That said, however, this hotel is great on form but falls short on function. As written in previous reviews, the bath/shower arrangements are chic but annoying and possibly hazardous. During our stay, the internet was intermittant, the air-conditioning didn't work, the light switches were difficult to operate and the food was weird. The restaurant and bar, it their attempts to be hip and creative, mixed way too many ingredients and flavors. Three of our four main courses were oddly sweet. I could go on about confusions in our friends' bill, etc. etc., but you get the point. The biggest problem with L'Arlatan, however, is the staff. They are young and attractive but, as another reviewer said, either stupid or clueless. I would go futher and add pretentious and condescending. When we checked in, we were shown to a lovely, large room then told not to touch anything as it might be a mistake. The staff member returned in a few minutes and we had to pick up our bags and move to a different, smaller (still lovely) room. The young woman told us we'd be happier there because it was closer to our friends. How stupid did she think we really were? It wasn't that we didn't like the room - it was fine - it was her patronizing attitude. Plus, any decent hotel would have acknowledged the mistake and just upgraded us. When we went to meet our friends in the bar, they said the cocktail waitress had asked them if they belonged in the hotel. They told her yes, they were staying there. (We're in our 70s, perhaps we don't look young or hip enough to be guests at L'Arlatan?) The final straw came from the same waitress. When we ordered our cocktails (in English because the waitress was speaking English to us) she said, "And now would you like to try and pronounce that in French?" as though we were in grade school. Three of the 4 of us live in France and speak fluent French. Her attitude was insulting and offensive. Clearly, the staff needs training in how to interact respectfully with guests. For the record, we have all traveled extensively and stayed in hotels around the world from 1 to 5 star. This was one of the stranger experiences we've had. We will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyHUGE PROBLEM YOU MUST BE AWARE OF
We booked this hotel because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor. But there is a HUGE problem with this hotel, regardless of any other merits it may have. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. That meant that we had by far the most uncomfortable night's sleep of our entire long trip to the south of France. The staff offered fans for the room, but all they did was move the hot air around. Every other hotel we stayed in that cost this much had air conditioning. The fact this doesn't should be emblazoned on every booking site. Yes, we stayed in very hot weather, but who can guarantee in advance what the weather will be, and trust me, you really don't want to swelter in this hot box without air con. I feel really deceived that this vital fact about the hotel wasn't made crystal clear in huge bold letters before I booked.

I am sad today is our last day here. L’Arlatan is a special gem located right in town- close walking distance to all the sights, shops & cafes. It is beautifully decorated-every square inch. The tile takes one’s breath away. The art is unique and fun. The lighting, tile, and doors were my favorite. Every door is uniquely designed- I took many pictures! Most importantly, the staff was all SO accommodating. We lost our luggage and right away we were offered anything we needed. All staff was very friendly and kind. Breakfast is a must! It is a great place for a family to stay. My two teens highly approved- the swimming pool was a hit. This is a very special place and made my first trip to France all the more amazing- even without my luggage.

we had very lovely days at the Hotel Lárlatan. The team ist young and dynamic; very empathetic and fresh. The premises are exceptional down to the last detail. The journey to historic Arles is very well thought out and pleasant thanks to the shuttle service.
The dinner was delicious.
Thanks a lot.
Everybody must stay there at least one night...
... to experience the beauty of this establishment as well as the comfort of the bedroom.
At my arrival i was particularly lucky to be shown around the hotel by a member of staff who explained Jorge Pardo's design which can be found throughout.
The service from the bar was very professional with a wine served at the perfect temperature. The breakfast however was overall disappointing.
Exceptional!
A lovely hotel, at a great location, the room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, good breakfast and dinner menues, a driver picked us up at the parking garage which made things easy and last but not least the hotel has VERY kind and helpful staff that always took the time to answer our questions! We will certainly stay here at our next visit to Arles.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The design, craftsmanship and workmanship was absolute top tier. Service was impeccable. I cannot imagine any reasonable person departing from the hotel without complete satisfaction.
