Le Bilboquet New York Reviews from The Last Year
shame on Bilboquet management for it's policies and discrimination
Don't eat at Bilboquet! The management Horribly ruined my wife's birthday after we had a reservation for weeks. They would not seat us as a family on a technicality they claim about attire, yet their website is very ambiguous when it comes to attire as it more focuses on Not to wear beach-wear, of which I was not wearing yet they turned me and my family away who were dressed nicely, cleanly, fashionably enough to be at a prestigious country club. My wife was already at an outside table, hot summer night waiting with my teenage kids and mother-in-law already seated while waiting for me to park my car, yet they could Not find the decency to seat me so it wouldn't ruin the entire family evening. They have hateful managers working here. I asked other patrons if they minded what I was wearing and they all said what I had on was perfectly fine in their opinion. At least one of the staff member came up to me outside later to apologize as we left since he said the managers here are horrible people, said he has seen them let in other people that "they personally know" whom were dressed just like I was. They say they have a strict policy, yet they let Chris Cuomo the news anchor in with a baseball cap and a tee-shirt with a fishing logo. They let another man in with faded jeans and a tee-shirt, and they let a beautiful woman in with her 20-ish yr old son in Shorts but they told me they have a strict attire policy. They basically discriminatorily pick and choose who they let in, even if you have a reservation. BTW, I emailed corporate that evening, the reply says to call their urgent phone line, I did but a nice young lady said she was so sorry but she had no way to help be since she was at a different location. Again, I say Do Not Patronize Le Bilboquet until they realize how harmful and hurtful their managers can be to good people whom were dress nicely enough for any fine dining establishment or exclusive country club in the country. Oh by the way, I had to beg another restaurant down the street to let us in on short notice and when I explained to a manager at a really nice restaurant with white tablecloths he was appalled! He was appalled that the managers at Bilboquet could not find a way to help us! Shame on you BilBoquet, Shame on you!
If it weren't for the price I would rate this restaurant
If it weren't for the price I would rate this restaurant reasonably well... But unfortunately the value is just not there. Food is generally good, but there's nothing particularly exciting about the place. There were three of us, and one of us had the veal chop special which was incredibly bland. Desserts are small and very overpriced. We only sampled three different glasses of wine and they were... OK. The music was absolutely inappropriate for a high-end French restaurant on a Saturday night. Definitely not worth what they're charging... Especially in Manhattan, you have many better options.
Horrible, rude, mean, bad crazy place
The name should be Le Rude starts at the door. This place is famous for their unfiltered rudeness and No soup for you attitude that you will never experirnce anywhere ever again. If you want to feel like garbage, thats your place to go. rudeness is over the top! It starts at the door and follows you until you leave. You feel like taking shower every time their doormen talk to you. These people there never ever are normal or polite. Every time i come im disgustedby their food, prices, service and their stuff at the door. They lucked out to occupy the only nice spot in sag harbor. But there are plenty of other spots in the hamptons . And that is where we all are taking our wallets this season.
Fantastic - a bit noisy
Lovely place . Staff excellent, lovely menu. Fish was excellent. Fab wine. Nice atmosphere just a little noisy for me and hard to hear your table when talking. Service really was excellent
Delicious!
Amazing brunch! The avocado toast and the Burger delicious, and the Crepe Suzette was outstanding!!! Really good service!!!

My friend and I have been going to this restaurant for years. We were so excited for our dinner tonight. But We ordered the white asparagus appetizer and it was inedible. The salad literally looked like the scrap that was cast aside from the other salad that had been made that night. The server took away both dishes that had barely been touched without any question as to why we hadn't eaten them. I ordered the signature chicken dish. It was grainy and dry. Again, I ate less than 5 bites. My friend had the salmon which was passable. Again, the server took the dishes away with no question as to how we were doing with our meal. Lastly, we thought we'd give it a last chance with desert. We were served freezer burned ice cream with the apple tart and grainy chocolate mousse. The topper was getting physically ill when I got home.

The only good thing about this overpriced restaurant is the signature Cajun chicken dish. Otherwise, the staff is rude and the experience sucks. And good luck trying to experience the ambiance that you made a reservation for 6 weeks in advance and didn't get. Not worth the hype. Save your money. Or spend it at Maison Close instead.
Update - This review was actually for Cafe Bilboquet.
Stopped in for some nourishment after an appointment and it definitely satisfied. Ordered two ham and Swiss sandwiches on croissants, which the sweet lady who took our order very kindly heated up. Also had a large mocha latte, which was just so so. Wasn't as decadent as I would have liked. Was a bit cramped and loud inside, but we snagged a corner table near the door away from the crowd, which was nice. Service was sweet and sandwiches were nice and tasty. Definitely hit the spot after a long morning.

Came here for a birthday brunch, my friend wanted to get tipsy and dance. This review is for the overall experience and not precisely the food. Pro tip: brunch starts at 2PM, before and after 2PM are different worlds. Nomz: Had the famous Cajun chicken, the fries were delicious as was the salad that came with it. The Cajun sauce was very good and helped the chicken as it was a bit dry, white meat. Drinks: Had the top one on the cocktail menu, it was refreshing and nice. Service: It was great and over the top in the best way. They danced, they brought drinks, they refilled drinks, they took your pics/videos, they made the lights flicker with the music, they did it all. Ambiance: Before 2pm I would describe as fancy vibe with white table clothes, even a bit stuffy maybe. After 2pm, the lights are dimmed, the dj starts spinning awesome tunes and sparklers start coming out with bday bottles. Everyone dances, everyone has fun but didn't see anyone get sloppy. Nope or Dope: Dope, if you're looking for good drinks and a good time in a upscale/classy environment come here!
Always perfection.
I love their famous Cajun chicken that is so moist and an extremely generous portion with crispy fries and fresh salad. The wine selection is excellent and so are the deserts. The ambiance is elegant but upbeat. Seating is comfortable and service is impeccable. It's always a pleasurable experience.
It's a love/hate relationship between Le Bilboquet and I.
The food is ok/good but the ambiance is usually what makes me choose another spot for lunch. It's loud inside- like a cafeteria- and the small tables are practically on top of one another. I won't recommend to friends.
Ghastly Meal
Had the worst Margarita ever along with overcooked, dry chicken. The replacement drink was no better. Noise level is disco rage and seating is elbow to elbow. They have a good PR person for an overpriced, noisy, crowded restaurant. Be sure to go elsewhere, NY has much, much better to offer
Tres bonne!!
Everything was spot on, food, service and ambiance. The truffle risotto, Cajun chicken and the duck were outstanding. The desserts were the icing on the cake (pun intended) Looking forward to our next visit.

Very good food.
Attentive service and a Pleasant atmosphère, although a bit loud! The dishes were well prepared and served most appetisingly!
Excellent dinning experience in a(n) (unfortunately) noisy environment
The food description as well as pictures of finished plates conveyed exactly the plates served. Food was tasty. Personnel very professional and, almost all, billingual (French and English - albeit with a nice French accent!). On the minus side there is no sound absorbing roofing, the dinning hall is extremely noisy - not conductive to a calm eating experience or a romantic outing. On top the volume of the background music was loud and, due to sound accousitcs, in our corner we were getting only some frequences that compounded the noise misery. Concluding, the restaurant delivers what it promises, it might improve on the accoustic - noise plan.
This Maitre D guy is rude and he is not making sense.
2 of us went for brunch on Sunday. We were refused to dine in because they have a dress code. It's a Sunday and around the neighborhood plus this is not a Michelin start restaurant. It's just a casual place to us. We were on our sneakers. But whatever, we were fine and planned to find another place outside. In the meantime, the next party arrived. 2 white peoples also with sneakers and casual clothes. But they were let in. So I asked him why were they allowed because clearly they are also casual to me. And no difference of our dress code. He told me it's not because of the sneakers but because I'm wearing sweatpants but they are wearing regular pants. OMG, so he has the power to define their dress code. And the internal decor is just an average nyc restaurant not even worth me to dress up. If you want to kiss their ass, go with you nicest cloth to this place. Hahahaha I saw tons of similar reviews. So my bad not checking before going.
The best chicken you can order in a any restaurant.
It is simply the best ever. French place with cool ambience and excellent service.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
