The food was excellent! The vegetables were fresh crisp
The food was excellent! The vegetables were fresh crisp and cooked perfectly. The spicy chicken stir fry was spicy but not overwhelming. The crispy Brussels sprouts and the garlic noodles were the highlight. I could have just gorged on them. The ambience was a little loud but the service was prompt and nothing was left wanting.
Be the first to ReplyWe got a recommendation from family to try this place out.
This is a French Vietnamese inspired restaurant. The place was very pretty. It was easy for us to find parking close by, maybe because it was a Saturday. We got short ribs and pho as appetizers. My boyfriend loved the short ribs because it was so tender and well marinated. I thought it was good but a bit salty. The pho Bo was good but it was Ha Noi style. Ha Noi style typically doesn't use a lot of herbs. As a southern Vietnamese, I love our pho because it used so much more herbs so our pho is always very aromatic. Le Colonial's pho was delicious but I prefer my southerner style more. The beef slices were higher quality and the noodles in the pho seemed like they were made fresh in the restaurant based on texture. For entrees, my boyfriend got spicy chicken stir-fry. According to him, it was the best chicken stir-fry he has ever had. Chicken was high quality and the ingredients were fresh. It wished there was lemongrass taste to it. I would recommend eating this dish with rice. Meanwhile, I got the roast duck. The meat was tender but we wished the skin was crispier. The dipping sauce was amazing. It was smart and traditional to eat with roast duck with sticky rice. The sticky rice was great but the fried shallots should be more crispier. We ended the evening with chocolate cake which was very rich and delicious. It was not sweet at all which I liked. I did get the iced Vietnamese coffee. It was a bit disappointing because the water and coffee ratio was off. It needed more condensed milk to have this creamy texture and richness. Vietnamese coffee needs to be both bitter and sweet and that coffee had none of those characteristics. Overall, we like the place but as a Vietnamese, I'm very critical when judging Vietnamese foods. It was a 4/5 but my non-Vietnamese boyfriend thought it was 5/5.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely fantastic! Whether sitting at the terrace
Absolutely fantastic! Whether sitting at the terrace section or inside. The service is superb. Professional and friendly staff. Prices are good and portions, too. Flavors are amazing. Make a reservation, this place can get busy. Good location, easy paid parking nearby. Food and drinks are phenomenal. Hostesses were extremely helpful too.
Be the first to ReplyMy friend and I decided to come here for a quick dinner
My friend and I decided to come here for a quick dinner bite before returning to the hotel. I had no reservation, and I came here around 8:45 pm. There were no tables available, only a lounge table. We ordered the pho, beef salad, green beans, and eggplant. Everything was good except the beef salad. It was nice that the pho was split in half in the kitchen. The vegetables were good; they were not overcooked or too oily. However, this place was overly priced. French interior design restaurant that served Vietnamese food.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance was nice.
I really enjoyed the plants and the artwork. We started with the Cha Gio (crispy shrimp and pork roll) and the Banh Uot (Sesame Beef Ravioli). Both were pretty good, but not out of this world. The roll was pretty classic and the ravioli was definitely more unique. The signature fried rice was better than I was expecting given that it had broccoli which I thought would be weird, but was actually really good. The Shaking Beef was by far the best dish and I would go back just to have more of it! Two apps and two mains was a good amount of food for two people and we went home with a little bit of leftover rice.

This place has it all! The most amazing food with authentic, signature dishes whose incredible flavors are matched with their presentation--paired with an extensive cocktail menu. The ambiance is perfect. It is literally one of Chicago's hidden gems overlooking Oak Street - if you don't try it you are definitely missing out on something special!

Such a fantastic place for brunch or relaxing spot to meet friends. There's a lovely list of cocktails and wines to enjoy with your meal. I appreciate that you can choose to dine on small plates as a mixture or do one larger entree as your meal. It's within walking distance of everything, but on a quieter street.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately, the food here tastes like they've been
Unfortunately, the food here tastes like they've been sitting out for hours or made in a rush. Not sure why some reviews mention this place as a Thai restaurant. This is supposed to be an upscale French-Vietnamese restaurant, but there's nothing special on the menu that you can't get at any restaurant in argyle. - the shrimp rolls' wrapper and rice noodles in it were dry - the scallops in the scallop salad were way under cooked. We are not at a sushi restaurant - the shaking beef came out cold and also not cooked to what I asked. why bother asking how I like it cooked if you're just going to give me rare anyways? - the sticky mushroom rice needs to be renamed as mushy mushroom rice I was looking forward to eating good food here but was left sorely disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Best Vietnamese/French inspired restaurant you will ever find.
Be the first to ReplyIt was such a horrible check in experience.
My friend and I had a 1:45PM reservation for 2 people. As I was waiting, multiple people without a reservation for 2 went in. Four people with 2 reservation for 2 people at 2PM went in before us. As I mentioned this to the host and the guy seems to be the manager, not only he didn't apologize, he straight up lied to my face that all parties have to be here in order to be seated. I literally saw and told him there were 2 people went in and sat by the door, another guys came in later and joined them. Then it was just dead silenceI know this is unrelated and I just wanna mentioned it here: while I was waiting, a lady came out and told the host that she already ate, no one came to her when she was at the bar. I turned to the host, she said "oh sorry" while she was on an iPad (without looking at the lady). There are way better options in this area than coming to this restaurant where people just don't care about their customers

You're not paying for the overpriced, average food. You're paying to LARP as an early 1900s European nobleman/noblewoman or missionary or whatever traveling to the Far Eastern oriental land to act out your noblesse oblige. French decorated restaurant with yellow Vietnamese faces hung up for the extra "orientalness." Go back in time to experience the colonial days, before French and US got their behinds kicked out. If you want wonderful, better Vietnamese food at a reasonable price, head up to Arglye.
Be the first to ReplyReally tasty Vietnamese food and fun cocktails.
The service was really nice. We went as a large group and they were very accommodating.
Be the first to ReplyTrendy Vietnamese restaurant with a very cute interior.
The location itself is beautiful inside and out. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming. Our waitress was kind enough to give us a suggestion on how to order. They prefer that all of the food is ordered at once so they can plan out how the food is brought to the table.Being Vietnamese, the food is not like my moms cooking but is decent Vietnamese food. It is a bit more pricey than your average Vietnamese restaurant but you are paying for the experience.Lychee Martini - very good and crafty cocktail. There was a good lunch from the vodka but sweetness from the lycheeGoi Ga - I love goi ga but I am more inclined to usually get the ones seasoned with a vinegar and lemon dressing. This one is a sweet fish sauce based chicken salad which is not bad. I would have liked it with more chilis.Bo bia - nothing too special about the veggie rolls. My boyfriend did love the peanut sauceBanh cuon - this one was a bit odd looking compared to what I am used to. This was actually my boyfriends favorite since he said it resembled pierogis to him. The rice flour crepe could have been a bit more thin. This needed some more sauce to accompany it.Bo Luc Lac- this is a Vietnamese staple. It is hard to mess up shaking beef. The beef was very tender and flavorful.Sticky rice with mushroom - this was a little too over cooked and mushyOver a nice experience but would I come back again? I don't know.
Be the first to ReplyFirst of all, I LOVE this place.
I'm so sad to give it 3 stars. I've been a few times with friends and finally took my husband. We ordered the chicken dumplings to start. They were so good. My husband ordered shaking beef and I ordered the salmon. Weirdly came within minutes of ordering. Our bottle of wine had just arrived. Fast food when you want an experience, not food that was prepared before you ordered. His was great! Mine was totally raw. Like sushi raw. I was fine bc we had a side of fried rice (that was also delicious). Sadly we didn't get checked on l, so it died in front of us. No reheating old, raw salmon. They were nice. Comped the raw salmon. We ordered dessert and a Togo appetizer. They comped the appetizer as well. But sadly just wasn't a great dinner experience. Food came way way way too fast (faster than fast food), we weren't checked on once the food came, and raw food. I'll give it another try, but it just seems to be similar to a tired co-worker. Just barely doing the bare minimum, but badly needs to be fired.
Be the first to ReplyWhether you like this restaurant or not will largely depend
Whether you like this restaurant or not will largely depend on context. I took my team here as a thank you dinner. We shared appetizers, larger dishes and desert. Let's start with apps. We got shrimp with pork roll, beef roll and chicken dumplings. Each dish is about 15 dollars and while nothing special, my team enjoyed them. For large dishes we got duck, snapper, fried rice and a side of pickled veggies. The rice and fish were yummy but the duck had no flavor and was under-seasoned. In addition, all these dishes were pretty cold by the time everything arrived. Considering that the duck dish was over $50 dollars and snapper close to $100 dollars, they were disappointing. I fond myself wishing that I was eating a duck soup and fried fish from the tiny neighborhood Vietnamese takeout restaurant by my house. To finish off the meal, we got ice cream and warm chocolate cake for desert and both were lovely. However coffee and tea were cold as well. If you are looking for a fancy night out but food is not the focus, this restaurant could work as an option. For me, the ambiance alone is not worth an almost $400 dollar bill with so many choices around.
Be the first to ReplyThe interior and ambiance makes me want to go back! It
The interior and ambiance makes me want to go back! It captures the beauty of Vietnam, and I think is the main reason that makes this place worth the price. The reason for my four star is because the pho was good, but not great. I wish they provided an herb garnish plate like most Vietnamese restaurants do. The pho experience is not the same without all the greens! And besides that, the broth was... okay. Nothing I'll rave about to friends to try, but it also wasn't terrible. The Vit Quay (duck) on the other hand was nomz! The dipping sauce was chef's kisses and really reminded me of home. Could the skin be a little more on the crispy side? Yes, but the meat was tender and every bite made me smile. The iced coffee was good, however, when served the ice seemed to have melted and the coffee was still warm on the bottom. I still finished it though! So, overall, I think you're paying more for the ambience, which is definitely worth it! Don't get me wrong though, the food was still good, I just expected a little more with the pricing! Oh, and I wish they had actual chopsticks, and not the disposable ones. I'll be back again to try the other dishes!

Very delicious food and they were knowledgeable on celiac/ gluten free (I have celiac disease). The red snapper was amazing and we would 100% go back again. In fact I can't wait!
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely need to make reservations in advance for this
Definitely need to make reservations in advance for this place but it is worth it. The food is delicious (all of the dishes have a ton of flavor) and there's something for everyone on the menu. The appetizers were the best part. It is a little bit more upscale / fancy.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance was so cute.
The decor was minimalistic and the open windows made the space feel large. The most flavorful dishes I have ever eaten. The fish looks scary but they filleted it and the sauce was amazing. The garlic noodles and green beans were the perfect compliment to the fish flavor. They were flavorful on their own but not so overpowering that they couldn't be eaten together. The dessert was also amazing!
