We had a hugely disappointing experience at Lenoir prior to our wedding last spring, and I haven't been able to shake it. My now-husband and I wanted to have an intimate dinner, just the two of us, the evening before the wedding. I had been to Lenoir years ago, not long after it opened, and very much enjoyed my experience back then. My husband had never been but had heard good things, and he decided it was nice and romantic enough to book for this special dinner. I'm struggling to find many positive things to say about the evening. First, we were seated at a wobbling table on a sloped part of the patio area. I get that it's supposed to be charming, but I'd expect a more elevated atmosphere than gravel and wonky metal dining sets for the price point. The table might not have been a big deal if it were any other date night, but we kindly asked to be reseated at another open table. They begrudgingly moved us, which was an off-putting start to the meal. Our waiter arrived and was fairly nice and friendly. He brought us a bottle of their house lambrusco when we told him what we were celebrating, so I (incorrectly) thought maybe things would turn around. However, the first two courses we had were nothing special to me and my husband straight up did not like them. I held out hope that the main course would rescue the dinner. At least 20 (might have been more than 30?) minutes after our 2nd course was not only finished but cleared, our waiter was nowhere to be found. We finally flagged another waitstaff down (who said she was the manager), and said we would prefer to cancel the last course, as we had been waiting quite a while and were not hungry anymore. Instead of saying "no problem" or, "we'll comp it" - she said it was on it's way and disappeared into the back. Our final entree (a fish dish in some sort of coconut curry broth I believe) was delivered to the table shortly thereafter. While it tasted better than the other courses, we didn't finish even half of it. All said and done, we left paying over $300 for the food alone, thoroughly underwhelmed and regretting the reservation entirely. I would not recommend coming here for a special event. In the worst case the quality has gone downhill across the board; in the best case, it is inconsistent and I wouldn't take the risk to come here to celebrate a big milestone. It was a huge bummer that night and overall. I do really like to support old Austin favorites and to see them thrive, but I'm going to say pass on Lenoir and support the other classics in '04 :-/
