You can pretty much walk right past if you aren't paying attention. Food was amazing and seemed to be a spot for the locals. Very much appreciated the chefs different takes on some of the classics.
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing restaurant, in the old French style.
It's harder than you think to find carefully prepared food with delicious flavors and an experimental flair in Paris. So many of the menus are all alike and not as good as a moderately skilled chef can cook at home. But here is a real gem! Tiny, crowded, popular, but boy-oh-boy do you eat well! Highly recommended. Make reservations as the place is small and might not be able to accommodate you. Our menu:headcheese and toast starter -- very well prepared, and so tasty it was loved even by my husband who normally won't eat such things. A lamb stew with pretty shaved vegetables (not over cooked) and a good rich sauce, the lamb cooked to melt-in-the-mouth stage. Little rounds of tender pork, also with vegetables and a lovely clear light sauce.Dessert: a fruit stew with homemade lime sorbet, light and delicious. Ate it even though I was stuffed.

We wanted to meet a friend for dinner and she booked this place. My partner had been before, but a long time ago. She was concerned and thought it best to look at the menu in advance - a good decision, because, dessert apart, there was very little that we would ever choose...worse, most of it meant we would instantly rule out visiting the place if it were just us...shall we say, an unnecessarily complex cuisineSo we went through and made some initial choices - as of course it could be different on the night - fall back mains was the cote de boeuf, but as you would see from the website picture, the thing is still mooing. So the question was, was he a chef who thinks bleu is the only way and that anything more than a point was an aberration - or would he provide the customer what he's asked forThe night came...welcomed, decent table, very nice St Emilion while we looked at the menu. Our worst fears confirmedWe both selected the gravadlax starter (the only thing we could manage)...or rather, salmon in a gravadlax style...my partner, being Scandinavian, makes a real one. Actually, it was very nice and enjoyableFor dessert, I chose the cheese (very good) but the other 2 took the carpaccio of pineapple. It was a fabulous presentation and looked and was - deliciousAs we knew it would be, the problem was going to be the main course...I had no possible choice but the beef (which unfortunately was for 2). My partner had 2 possibilities including the beef, so kindly went for itI asked the waiter, could she have a point while I had well done...he went off to ask; returning, yes we could. On delivery, the other waiter said to me that if it wasn't done enough, it could be done moreAs feared, it was almost impossible to know which slices were which - red or redder; close to inedible as far as I was concerned...but if that was the best the chef could do when he was specifically asked to produce something well done, what would be the point of sending it back? It might at best become a point which wouldn't be much of an improvementDespite being urged by the other 2 to send it all back, while my partner took those slices she could manage, I decided to try it first and at least move the other bits around the plate...especially because, in fact, it was not even that good a piece of meat (always an issue with beef in France) and was not what you would call tender; smoky (ok why not)...no sauce, no vegetables other than some potatoes called pont neuf (possibly in duck fat?) but basically soggy. Best was to get it over with as fast as possibleThe weekend deal was €55 for 3 courses +€10pp for the the beefThe brochette at Le Pick Clops at €16.50 earlier that day was more enjoyableOur friend enjoyed every mouthful of her meal, so yes, it was mainly me, but I'm sorry, I expect a chef to adapt (and, yes, within reason) to a customer's requirements and in my view, actually cooking it more should not be his decision...it is, after all, our money3* for the starter and dessert; nul points for the mains

Oh là là, this place is great! If you're in Paris and looking for an exquisite, authentic French feast, head over to the 17th arrondissement to L'Entredgeu. Upon first glance, this looks just like your standard neighborhood bistro. But when you walk inside and peruse the menu, you quickly realize that this restaurant is SO much more. The chef is world-class, and his menu (which changes regularly) boasts traditional, seasonal French cuisine with a modern, creative twist. You have the option of doing a 2-course meal (eg appetizer + entree OR entree + dessert) for $45 Euros, or a 3-course meal for $55 Euros. And believe me, you get PLENTY of food for the price. I opted for the 2-course meal, and chose the Beef Cheek Bourguignon with a bowl of buttery potato purée. So rich and hearty... so delicious. But way too much food even for this hungry guy. This dish easily could feed 2 - 3 people. For dessert, I chose a Soufflé filled with cream and served with sorbet. Again, super rich. Super delicious. But there was no way I could finish it all without busting the seams of my pants and taking an Alka Seltzer.L'Entredgeu offers a fine selection of French wines + beer and spirits. The service here is really a stand-out. Our waitress was the only one working the floor, and she couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. Plus, she spoke fluent French, English, AND Italian! Very impressive. Food came out in a timely manner. Our group of 5 all enjoyed their respective dishes. Everything tasted great, looked pretty, and the whole experience was just truly authentic French and special.
Be the first to ReplySmall, unassuming and perfect.
From the caramelized onion in parmesan creme, to the pork belly chop to the apricot dessert, every bite was superb. Would have never found this place if not for the recommendation of a local. The server ran the whole place with aplomb, as if you were in her house for a meal. If you are looking for an authentic French meal in a place that punches way above its weight, don't miss this gem.

Simply amazing food! I had the "package" ordering of -appetizer (a creamy greenish soup sorry I forgot the name, just remembered its heavenly rich flavor)-main course: quail stuffed with fois gras. If you are as conformable as I am eating a whole bony bird, then go ahead and enjoy.-dessert: rum BaBa - OH MY GOD! One of the most exciting dessert I have ever had! Beyond explanation, just try it!
Be the first to ReplyThis is a very classic, old school French restaurant.
If you want something else, this is not for you. I wanted my mom and myself to experience something authentic and I took her here.We loved the aperitifs that included the classic ones.My mom was in love with her 12hr marinated veal (Joue de boeuf à la Bourguignonne, purée de pomme de terre) while I was in love with the soufflé that was made in a pan (very hard but a sign of true talent). This soufflé (Soufflé aux amandes, biscuit marocain) was almond based and I was so excited since I haven't had a proper soufflé in ages. The appetizers surprised us since many ceviches & tartars in Paris are not that good. The quality and subtle touches on this one (Ceviche de Bar, framboise/betterave et balsamique) were wonderful! My friend and I had the pigeon (Pigeon braisé, purée de carotte à l'orange, artichaut barigoule) and we were both impressed how much meat they gave us. Plus it was well balanced with the carrot purée.This will be my friend's new favorite place and a favorite for me when I visit.
Be the first to ReplyI had a truly memorable meal here a couple of years ago.
I was in town for a conference, and asked my Parisian friends to take me to their favorite place. My friend Lia said "it's very French," with a serious look. I wasn't disappointed. It's a cozy and attractive restaurant, with an intimate, neighborhood vibe. It's a wonderfully casual place to chat and relax. We ended up downing a bottle of wine before eating. The food was magnificent. I started with the pig's ears, which was mind-blowingly delicious. I was in chewy, crispy, tasty heaven. I still have dreams about it. And for the main course, I had the roast pigeon. My pal Daniel stared me in the eye and recommended that I get it rare. I went with it, and boy was I glad I did. The pigeon was a bit bloody, but man, was it succulent. I chewed on the bones until I scraped off every possible morsel of pigeon meat. Now I go back whenever I visit Paris. Sometimes I walk a couple of miles from my usual hotel just to go there. It's worth the trip.

The cream of white carrot soup was excellent, not too sweet, with bits of ham and chives. Want to make it at home. Tuna maki okay, but points for innovation. Lamb was not trimmed and came with no vegetables. Roast pigeon came very rare, red, as recommended. The dish came with carrots, parsnips, foie gras, baby chanterelles, and a few slices of over cooked celery cut on the bias. I miss green vegetables! Small cozy place. Charming friendly service. Described as a neighborhood haunt, since out of the way, not touristy, but many foreigners so the word is out. Fig tart is amazing, must eat.

This is by far my favorite place to eat in Paris, a lovely restaurant in the 17th arrondissement. To preface this review I've had my fair share of overpriced and disappointing meals in Paris, but have also found a few gems - and L'Entredgeu is a must visit for those who love excellent food and great service. To start, the food was outstanding. I started off with the terrine de campagne, which was a pâté served with a toasted slice of bread and lightly drizzled with a balsamic glaze. For the entree I ordered the carre de l'aigneau (lamb shanks) which were served over a fluffy potato gratin with roasted garlic on the side. For dessert, I enjoyed a vanilla cream layered pastry, which was perfectly sweet. For a prix fixe (fixed price) of 35 euro per person, for a 3-course dinner, this was a steal considering the quality of the food and the generous portions. I left completely satisfied. The service was also excellent. I was traveling for business so I was eating alone, and the host gladly accommodated my request for a table for one at dinnertime. The waitstaff were attentive and pleasant. The ambiance was lively, yet also intimate since it is a smaller restaurant.A couple of tips:- Call ahead to make a reservation if you can, the restaurant starts to get full about an hour after opening. If you do not have a reservation, I would recommend showing up early, close to opening time, to get a table. - They do not have an English menu, so it is very helpful to understand basic French or know key French words for different types of foods. If the waiter knows a little English they will offer to walk you through it, but I would not rely on this.I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Paris. I can't wait to go back!

Best meal in Paris so far, after several highly rated disappointments. The restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, but is close to a Metro stop and with a taxi stand right around the corner, so getting there & leaving is not a problem. It's a low key, small local restaurant, not touristy, comfortable and warm ambience. Picky wine-drinking friends were very pleased with their choices of wines by glass, and for starters the scallops were amazing, oysters delightful, fried fish ball things (forgot what they were called) little clouds of delicate fish mousse--but the scallops & oysters stole the show as openers. Bread lovely, fresh, pale brown, but not too strong a flavor to overwhelm the food. The carre de porc was delicious, though after a few slices, had to cut away some of the fat that came with each beautifully crisp tranche. Others enjoyed their fish dish and the fois gras/meat pastry plat was rich & delicious. Each dish very different in taste and tone, appropriate for each selection, but showing real depth and variety to the menu.Dessert of Mont Blanc and apple tart both really good. A truly delightful evening meal.

Excellent food at very reasonable price. One menu with multiple selection. Lamb (selle d'agneau) was great!
