Extremely meagre portions and incredibly expensive in a very average setting.
After entering, it struck me as a pop up.. very basic and not much attention to the decor, so I thought well, if the foods good than I’ll let that slide.. As I was driving, I wanted little other than a beer.. One beer on offer OR £33 bottle of Cider… Ooo Kay!? We both had the tasting menu. Each serving was small enough to be a joke.. if that wasn’t bad enough, was he serving was incredibly average in flavour and didn’t weren’t a tasting experience.. Overall.. our bill for 2 was £190 and felt i was being laughed at on our way out, without a farewell from the staff. I’ve been to many a high end restaurant and independents, but this scores very badly, and I only write this so I hoped it’s observed for Levan to improve the experience for customers, especially at this level.
Be the first to ReplyExciting menu and excellent food
The food here is so good, always exciting and interesting to taste. Very good use of textures and well flavoured, we have loved all the meals we have had here. They change their menu regularly so you can go once a month and have totally different food.
Be the first to ReplyBanger after banger!
The meal started with something cheesy and naughty, because what else! Then, a starter of perfectly cured fish in a tomato consommé that slapped you in the face with flavour! The highlight came next: a stunning plate of English spring vegetables served in a lovely split sauce of cream and chive oil. I can go on about the dishes that followed, but you will just have to go yourself and try it. Everything about our evening was perfect. The natural wine pairing was very well put together and exciting to try. “Nothing is worse than a stingy pairing!” , we were told upon arrival and indeed, the servings of wine were generous. All the staff was lovely and it was an honour and joy to sit at the kitchen counter and watch the chefs do their magic. Chef Luke’s passion for his food is wonderful to watch and frankly, addictive! The pud deserves a special mention as the stem ginger back-of-the-throat burn was a true delight. We had the most exciting meal we have had in a while, all accompanied by some excellent music as well.
Be the first to ReplyLovely!!
Lovely place. I’d been walking pass this place regularly but had never eaten there, so I was glad finally to have a chance to go. This place is very popular and it’s easy to see why. We had a lovely evening. The food was very good, particularly the cheese soufflé, though the first half of the meal was better than the second. This month’s set menu includes rabbit which was a touch disappointing. Overall the food did represent good value for money, but the wine was expensive. The service was good. Reservations essential.
Be the first to ReplyYummy and fab set menu!
Really recommend Levan for anyone who loves delicious food and drink! The service was fab too. Rating it only four stars as the set menu is expensive.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing second visit
Having visited before and rated as exceptional it was a disappointing experience last night.
One par excellence dish (tartare) but the remainder didn't hit the expectations of previous visit.
Slightly over cooked turbot main dish and a forgettable turnip first dish, never hit the heights if Nov meal.
Loved it before, second thoughts at present.
Simply delicious
Great night out ina relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic food served by great staff, who were attentive and unobtrusive. The food is exceptional.
Cannot fault them ans, highly recommended.
Best Value fir money in London for a Michelin star quality food
Probably in my top 5 restaurants in London: amazing food almost up to the standard of a Michelin star restaurant in a super cool environment, with great service, interesting wines and…it’s cheap for what it is.
Really well done to the team behind this restaurant.
Just wow!
Just brilliant! So good we thanked the chef at the end of the meal. It was an excellent experience. The menu is limited and totally fresh. The environment is basic. The music fab. The food .. well the food .. wow! The mackerel was sublime and the steak fantastic. We chose a cheese plate for our dessert. - impressive. The house wine was great. The service was exceptional. It wasn’t cheap but the experience was great. Well done team Levan London.

Why this restaurant is called Levan is a mystery. Is it because its ownsr is Georgian. Or does the chef use o levorotatory polysaccharide in his cooking? Or is it a reference to a Kansan who understands it to be of English origin and meaning the best of the best? I think the latter is closer to the mark for a restaurant serving stylish and exceptional food and which has even garnered a Michelin star. Best to leave the strange chemical compounds to the graffiti on the Peckham walls outside. So confident Is this establishment in the quality of its cooking that it offers a set menu with three choices per course then repeats most of them on the a la carte. Since we were tempted by all the dishes on offer it was a no brainier not to opt for the set menu. For starters the richness of a ham hock terrine was nicely offset by sweeter pickles and gooseberry. Tomatoes with peaches and chamomile was refreshing. For mains guinea fowl came in long strips set on a bed of girolles. An unusual Sardinian pasta called gnocchetti was the main ingredient in a dish with sea vegetables mascarpone cheese and bottarga (cod’s roe). Not sure I can think of any other restaurant Italian or otherwise offering such an unique set of ingredients. For dessert my friend had an almond slice with a cherry financiere with ive cream. My lemon posset sat on a biscuity bed which fairly dissolved into the thinnest of pastes. A carafe of an Alsatian white wine complimented each course nicely of a meal concluded with espressos.

What a treat to have such a great restaurant right around the corner. Delighted to see Levan open again and loved the new set menu style. Excellent food with delicious flavours for a great price. Helpful and friendly staff topped it off. thanks for a great evening, we will be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive and misleading
Had the set menu for 39 pounds but 2 of the 3 main courses had a 6 pound supplement in tiny writing which we missed! Would be more honest to say 45 pounds. The food was lovely but tiny portions. Wine very expensive. Ambiance more cafe like with loud music.

Friends booked this visit for my birthday and I wasn’t disappointed.
It’s small but perfectly formed and informal in its style
We went for the chefs menu where you can select between a couple of options which was approx £50 ahead.
It was unique in style and I didn’t feel overfull at the end which you sometimes can with a tasting menu
Stand out dishes were chicken parfait and the mango desert. I’d also like to give a nod to the negroni.
Great atmosphere created by friendly and informal service. I will be back.
