...And the shaved ice is soft as snow. These dumplings are like nothing you've ever had before. They have see-through thin wrappers that melt away to reveal a perfect amount of juicy, soft pork filling that is perfectly seasoned. You add as little or as much chili oil for your taste. Have you ever had shrimp toast at an Asian restaurant? Well, this is out of this world different, and oh so much better. The perfectly deep fried toast is literally stuffed with creamy ?mayo sauce with super tender whole shrimp, and you can dip it in sweet chile sauce. The chicken wings have been deboned, so that you can revel in the awesome flavor and meatiness. Dipping in the creamy XO sauce takes it over the top. My mistaken impression of "shaved ice" was like a crunchy snow cone. I couldn't have been more wrong. The cottony soft ice bowl surrounding the creamy shortbread/marmalade center was eye opening. I don't usually get desserts anymore, but I'm so glad I saved room for this! Chef Trevor Moran is the inspiration for all of this goodness. We loved his unique takes on foods and flavors when he was at The Catbird Seat 5 years ago (has it really been that long ago?), and it's fantastic that he's finally gotten his own place - hopefully to stay quite awhile! Prices are reasonable ($9 for 7 dumplings, $11 for chicken wings or shrimp toast, and $9 for a bowl of shaved ice). We wish they had more cocktail options, as the Toki highball was just ok. Service is friendly and fast. We had waited to come here, until we could dine indoors. They opened in Oct. 2020 for carryout and outdoor seating, with dine-in starting this week.
