If you blink, you will miss this hole in the wall. The steak sandwich was amazing. The Cuban coffee and tropical shakes were so delicious that we kept going back for more throughout our trip. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Place with Fair Prices!
The atmosphere is far from slick but don’t let that fool you. The staff is friendly, the food delicious, and prices are great. They’ve been around for a long time and there’s a good reason for that. So, wander in, order at the counter and take a seat. If you like Cuban food, you’ll be glad you did! And don’t forget the flan…,.

Chosen from a guide book, the decision to go to Margon was one of the best we made during our 5 day city break from the UK. Being honest, having sat down at a table it wasn’t obvious how we should order and if we were typical UK nervous ninnies and not fairly seasoned travelers we might have sat there for a while in this bustling “local” eatery (if just off Times Square can be called local). However, stepping up to the counter and asking for guidance paid dividends and the lady serving could not have been more helpful. Between us we had rice, beans, baked chicken and plantains and a Cuban sandwich the guidebook had justly recommended. We ate at various other good but far more costly establishments during our visit but Margon hit the spot. Thank you

Advertised breakfast. Stopped serving it early all week, also did not have the items advertised. No potatoes avail given a sandwich bun for bread. Staff was friendly, and obviously they’re there for the Cubans. Never got a chance all week to try them since they only serve through late lunch.
Be the first to ReplyLoved this place, they looked after us
We stayed two blocks down on 44th and found this place on Youtube (Here Be Barr's guide to NY). So friendly every morning, and it was our starting point for the day. The Coffee is just what you need to get started, and better than anything in the main chain outlets in Times Square. Centrally placed, and really popular. lucky to find this, and thanks for making us feel so welcome every day!
Be the first to ReplyA real surprise!!
We were out in around Midtown and ran into the crowds at Rockefeller center. Looking for a place to get away from the crowds, we decided to try Margon. It may not be fancy, but que delicioso!! The plantains were wonderful, the Cuban Sandwich was flavorful and moist. It would be a regular spot if I lived in the city

A nice place to grab something quick, easy, and affordable that's filling! The atmosphere is super casual, kind of like a diner and the service is friendly.
Be the first to ReplyGenuine cuban dishes in NYC
This hidden Cuban cuisine eatery offers a variety of dishes. It has a bit of a diner feel. My order (Palomilla Steak with Yellow Rice and Black Beans as well as a Tropical Mango Shake) was served very quickly.
The Palomilla Steak was tender as well as firm to the bite, a little too greasy.
The rice and black beans were solid. The Tropical Shake was very consistent and flavorful.
I was pretty full afterwards and spent just over $20. Great value for the money!
Great cheap breakfast
It doesn't look like much but my $7.00 breakfast with bacon, eggs, potatoes and Cuban coffee was fantastic! Glad I stopped in!

A hole-in-the-wall gem! The food was amazing! We had to sit outside because the place was packed with locals- always a good sign.
The friendly staff even brought us our food.
An absolute must visit!
Where suits roll up their sleeves and eat lunch
Margin is a definite must go whenever I go to the Big Apple. Lunch time is filled with locals on lunch with their sleeves rolled up and grabbing a great affordable meal. The Cubano sandwich is fresh, pressed and delicious. The soups are hearty and wholesome. The people make you feel at home and what else do you need besides great food at great prices? Enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my all time favorites!
I get to NYC 2-3 times a year and ALWAYS make sure to visit Margon. The food is delish, and well priced, the atmosphere warm and friendly despite being very very busy. The folks who work there are so nice and in my experience always willing to be helpful when there's a question about a menu item or give a recommendation.
It is tiny so it isn't a place you'll be able to sit and linger but hey you're in NYC and have lots of places to go right? That said, you won't be hurried.
Very varied crowd from local business people and workers from Times Square to tourists. Small but clean single bathroom.
Non existent service, greasy good
Went for the "best Cubano in NYC." I often eat at restaurants like this, like Tina's Cuban on W 55th. Went in for lunch at 3 pm, no greeting, no nothing, so I took a table at the rear. NO service, no nothing. I tried to flag a waiter but to no avail, then one of the guys at an adjoining table said you have to order at the counter (steam table). OK, some waiter guy said pay up front (sign said PAY HERE, NOT ORDER HERE!!!) and he 'll get me. I paid and ordered Cubano plus American coffee. He never got me. 15 min later I asked him where my lunch was and he apologized as he never put the order in. Gave me 3 pcs of cold fried chicken "on the house." Soon after my Cubano came with a CAFFE CON LECHE which this bellend said was American coffee. If this is NYC's best Cubano, I'm Superman. Greasy at best, Never goin back. They could learn from Tina's cuban or Sophie's cuban on 8th ave. Bye now
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Food & Prices
Stopped here with my family before a show. The food was amazing...we had the roast chicken, cubano sandwich, chicken sandwich, plantains, rice & beans. The beans were the best beans I ever had. Dinner for 3 of us was $40 and we could not even finish our plates. Local, comfortable, clean, hole in the wall. Highly recommend.
