Go for the Octopus
Sat at the bar and food service was excellent. All food ordered was really well prepared and presented. Place was very busy on a weeknight. Make reservations early or ahead of time. And if you like grilled Octopus, this may be the best you’ve ever had!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic restaurant.
My daughter and I were in Sedona for a spring break trip. I decided to make reservations due to the recommendation of a social media page. We were not disappointed. Beautiful restaurant with great views. While waiting for a table we met a couple families and shared experiences and received great recommendations for the area. Seated shortly after our reservation time. The food was amazing. Handmade empanadas were delicious. I had the Sea Bass and my daughter had the filet. Both were amazing. Dessert was the cheesecake and churros. Will definitely return.

Absolutely stunning restaurant- inside and out! Ambience 10/10. Sadly, winter weather didn’t permit for us to enjoy the sunset with the restaurant’s panoramic views as planned but it was spectacular nonetheless. The service from the door to floor was excellent and to say the food was anything less than impeccable would be insulting. From the octopus to the butternut squash soup to the lemon mashed potatoes with arugula and almonds and every succulent bite in between, our meal was delicious, unique, and full of Latin flavor! To top off the night, they treated us with a scoop of gelato with a churro topping to celebrate our anniversary - so delicious and thoughtful!
Be the first to ReplyA Simply Fabulous Eatery.
The, Sedona based, Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill is a South American inspired grill that enjoys rave reviews and compositions of food equally astonishing. The views from the patios and dining. are naturally superior with panoramic scenes of Sedona's red rock's majesty or star filled sky as a magical backdrop to the dining experience. The culinary team uses a wood fired grill and wood burning oven to create a unique menu of Latin based cuisine like: Yellowfin Tuna, Grilled Octopus, 3 variants of empanadas and more......I jumped all over the Shrimp Ceviche and dove into the Gelato as my sweet tooth satisfier. At the Mariposa, the food, service, ambience and scenery are fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding.
We had dinner here last night and it was delicious. Sitting at the bar, we were able to watch a large screen video all about Lisa Dahl and her travels through areas in South America. The video showed cooking of all kinds of delicious recipes. The food was outstanding. The ambience even at the bar was great. The dining room looked amazing too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Don’t forget the reservations. Chloe our server was lovely too.
Be the first to ReplyYou owe to yourself to dine here
If you’re planning a trip to Sedona, BE SURE to make a dinner reservation here in advance. You’ll thank both me and yourself. Flores del Mer and Skirt Steak entrees were great. We don’t usually have dessert, but opted for their version of flan. In a word? Fabulous. The service was perfect, too
Be the first to Replydelicious steaks
The most delicious steaks of my life. Juicy and perfectly cooked. An ideal dinner with wine and a stunning view of the mountains.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful views with less than an average food
Mariposa has beautiful views and a chic interior. Unfortunately it does not offer the food to match. Despite being described as “Latin inspired” our food was bland and lacking any inspiration. My burger greatly lacked salt/seasoning. The ceviche seemed to be doused in watered down bottled ketchup. Yuca fries and mac n cheese were probably the best items on the menu. Disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyAverage dinner @ high end prices
A little let down. Atmosphere was more hotel restaurant than high end romantic dinner. Service was a bit robotic (reciting of specials, ties and vests). A the food was…just ok. Not bad, but definitively not up to the reputation or prices. Hate to right touchy reviews, but here it is.
Be the first to ReplyPoor Experience
Disappointing. The food was definitely not inspired - by any stretch. The service was stiff and scripted. The experience was poor. The hype and reviews belie the lack of authenticity and sincerity. From the draconian welcome by security to the monotone description of desert, which we skipped for sure. Ignore the rave and find a real place to eat in Sedona.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and view!
Food was amazing. Go for lunch because the view is spectacular! We were not able to get dinner reservations and were so happy we didn’t because lunch is more casual and views stunning.
Be the first to Replydeliciously and thoughtfully prepared food in a stunning setting
This is deliciously and thoughtfully prepared food in a stunning setting with the red rocks visible from the dining room.
Be the first to ReplyMariposa great restaurant
Specialty Cocktails were excellent. I learned all about mescal. Food was excellent also. We had chicken and skirt steak. Very good. And the view was awesome. A bit pricy but you get what you pay for.
Be the first to ReplyLatin-inspired explosion of flavor
Some of the best Latin food we have enjoyed. The Pulpo Parrilla (grilled octopus) was some of the best octopus we have tasted. The filet mignon was flavorful with a mesquite char, tender and juicy, plus a mushroom cream sauce that complimented the mesquite flavor nicely - my wife said it was one of the best steaks she has enjoyed. I enjoyed the Flores Del Mar that had fresh seafood in a flavorful broth with quinoa. Come here - you will not be disappointed!
Be the first to ReplyVery good restaurant
Excellent service, good and varied choices on the menu. Lots of different Latin flavors to experience in a very nice environment
Be the first to ReplySedona view
Sorry that the only good thing is the VIEW from the restaurant! The food was sub par! Don’t even know how to sear a Scallop, Tried the Rack of Lamb. Sub par, no seasoning or char. 😩 Chilean sea bass ! Blaaa! Good God! Get a Chief that can cook food. Just order an appetizer , cocktail and enjoy the view , go home. Will not RETURN. Enjoy your $250 Dinner

Went there for a dinner at prime time in the big dining room with the great view. Don't expect any value or amazing food, you are "renting" the dining room. Service was good but too much trying to turn the table. Our waitress was sort of a pain in the rear. We ordered a lot of things and all were pretty mediocre. The $6 for the blue cheese stuffed olives I did not get was just the icing. This place cannot make mac and cheese.......we ordered it. It must have spent several days in the walkin cooler. The lamb chops were mediocre. All of the sides were mediocre. I read reviews and almost all said avoid this spot. One of our guests was insistent that we eat there and we happen to get a 5:00 reservation. This place is selling a table with a gorgeous view. The view is a 10. If dark, don't go. Don't hurry for the wait staff to turn the table. We will not be going back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and views
Celebrating with 2 friends our birthdays, the food was absolutely amazing. We had the filet, Chilean Sea Bass and the other dish had lots of seafood in it (don’t remember the name) all were amazing. We also had the truffle Mac & cheese and Brussels and butternut squash as a side, octopus and caesar salad. The atmosphere was beautiful we had reservations which I made several weeks before our trip. The only thing I would say that wasn’t such a warm welcome was the woman who met us at the door for our reservation. We checked in and were told we would be seated closer to our time so we were like can we get a drink at the bar…yes, but you must come and sit out here, just the way she spoke to us was not nice or welcoming, then I went to look at their amazing door and she was yelling at me that I couldn’t go in there, I was like I’m just looking at the door. She was the only bad apple in the evening. The views are absolutely stunning. Go you won’t be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyOut of this world
My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we were so impressed. The food is absolutely phenomenal! The flavor profile is out of this world. We highly recommend ordering the filet mignon, the portobello empanadas, the lobster mashed potatoes, and the truffle mac n cheese. The add on’s (mash and mac n cheese) are shareable portions. When I say order the filet mignon, order the filet. You will not be disappointed. The mariposa drink is sweet and spicy. The caipirinha is so delicious you can drink it like water. Service is unmatched! The doorman was courteous, Josh, Mariah and Ciara were so charismatic and attentive. But most importantly authentically genuine which we appreciate in servers. The only thing we weren’t impressed by were the scallops and the flan. They just weren’t as explosive as the other food options we ordered. Other than that, we can’t wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyBest Steak Sandwich in the Entire Civilized World!
We were told we must try Melaposa . It was my birthday after all. However we were also told need reservations Five months in advance. We were lucky , as we usually are , to get two at bar. Just walked in. Five people , guest and employees , said must try steak sandwich . We are from South Al and steak sandwiches are usually a greasy tough affair , but we tried it. Ok, I bought Lisa’s cookbook thinking recipe is in there. Well it’s not. I have been scrounging the internet to no avail. Lisa , give it up please. That was not only the best steak sandwich we have ever had it was the best sandwich and best steak we have ever had. As my gal and I were leaving she said should we get two to go. As we settled in for the night she said let’s go back tomorrow and eat another one. Lisa , give it up please. I won’t tell.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food, Lots of Small Plates, Good Service
We've been here before and this time they were as good as the last time. They've held up well through the Pandemic and service was good and attentive. Food was tasty and well prepared. We shared the Empanadas, Garden of Delight Salad and the Flores Del Mar, which was kind of like paella, but served on quinoa instead of rice. The only complaint was that there were three different filling for the empanadas, but you couldn't mix them, even though they were served in quantities of three. Would have been much better to be able to choose one of each variety. Can't say much about the views since it was dark...
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievably awesome!
Top notch restaurant with amazing views. Impeccable service and outstanding food prepared exactly as ordered. It made our Anniversary even more special! This is one of those do not miss places!
Be the first to ReplyA Definite Highlight Eatery
If you stay on the main street, take a look around as there is a whole other area around the highway to explore. This restaurant is one worthwhile exploration. Food was amazing, service was great, and the restaurant itself, was a gem. More upscale and a bit more expensive but great food was worth it.
Be the first to Replyif you are in Sedona this is a must to eat
be aware you are strongly urged to have a reservation to this incredible place to eat. Great ambience . Congratulations Lisa dahl
Be the first to ReplyArrived 15 min before our
Arrived 15 min before our reservation. Gave us time to grab a bar cocktail and snap some sunset red rock photos. Tasty cocktails and great food. We had the beef empanadas as an appetizer (Delicious! Could have just eaten another plate of those for dinner!) For entrees we had the seafood trio and halibut.
