Matū Beverly Hills Reviews from The Last Year
Avoid big risks and don't waste money
The so-called Michelin one-star restaurant, but don't come here, don't waste your money! Our reservation was at 8 o'clock. We arrived 5 minutes early. The front desk manager Jessica said to take us to the waiting room to wait. We waited until 8:30! They started our dinner appetizers in the waiting room without asking us! I was very angry. I didn't pay to come to the waiting room to have dinner! Moreover, they didn't ask us if we accepted this. It was particularly rude. When I refused, the front desk manager Jessica immediately turned gloomy and took us to the table in the store below. I can only say that they don't have the most basic service ethics. Let's talk about the food. Don't waste your face. It's not salty at all. It can't even be considered a normal and delicious restaurant. The Michelin one-star restaurant is really overrated. Just based on its dishes and services, it's no wonder that it was downgraded from 2 stars to 1 star. It is estimated that in the near future, 1 star will also be lost.
ambience was romantic and dimly lit.
service was alright but the tables were too close to each other i could only hear the people next to us. but the food was incredible especially the ribeye. best steak i've ever had it had a nice sear on the outside with good flavor and melted like butter on the inside. SO GOOD but the portions were super small so we were still pretty hungry
The cheesesteak here is easily the best I have ever had!
The cheesesteak here is easily the best I have ever had! The sesame rolls are delicious and everything blends together perfectly! Service is super friendly and they are extremely fast and efficient. Prices are high but well worth the splurge as you won't find anything this good anywhere else. The quality is outstanding. I suggest going right when they open or ordering for pick up if you don't want to wait. Along with a side of their kettle chips is makes for an absolutely satisfying meal, highly recommended!
Staff is nice.
Street parking and free lots available. Only tried the lunch special sandwich which is not too pricey considering how much lunch will cost you in general when this is high quality. Steakhouse yet casual vibes. Sandwich was good with some heat from the pepper but more of a one and done for me.
The best food great service.
I definitely recommend bringing the family and friends. And the price is very reasonable for what you're getting.
Everything was absolutely amazing! Service, food quality,
Everything was absolutely amazing! Service, food quality, ambiance, and everything. Must try place. Absolutely YUM!
Cheesesteak is amazing! Period! Worth the wait on so many
Cheesesteak is amazing! Period! Worth the wait on so many levels. You won't be disappointed...
Wow is all I can say.
Food was so fantastic. We did the Matu tasting menu and added on the beef croquettes. Ribeye was amazingly tender, beef cheeks fell apart (in the best possible way!), croquettes were rich and flavorful. Service was excellent and coursed out well. Explained the menu well since it was our first time there. Fresh cutlery with every course. Inside was a great vibe.
I really was so excited to try this place and wanted to
I really was so excited to try this place and wanted to give it 5 stars. Upon arriving, my husband wanted to order a cocktail. The cocktail he requested has pineapple juice in the recipe. Unfortunately, they don't carry any juices at the bar such as pineapple and orange juice. Which bar doesn't carry the most basic juices for cocktails? Then the waiter explained the menu and told us they were out of some cuts of meat. One of the people in our party wanted filet. They were out of filet and can only offer it in the prefix menu option. Another person wanted to order Branzino and they were also out of that. We ordered the shrimp cocktail , the bone broth, croquettes and the steak tartare, and ceaser salad as starters which were excellent. Moreover, we ordered a side of fries and mushrooms that didn't come with our steak. When we informed the waiter he was confused and didn't know. He then told us it was accidentally taken to another table. He apologized and brought the fries out a few minutes later but we still didn't get our mushrooms. At that point we were annoyed cause our dinner was done and we didn't even want it anymore. The food was very good, the quality was there but everyone seemed to be lost and it was frustrating that they were out of a lot of stuff. Not sure if I would go back based on my experience.
I am so happy to be writing this review because it's not
I am so happy to be writing this review because it's not every day that I have a meal that truly blows me away. Matu is a lively restaurant in the heart of Beverly Hills that was perfect for a night out. I went with a friend and we opted for one of their muti-course wagyu dinners. We went with the ribeye dinner for 2, which came with a 24 hour bone broth, steak tartare (subbed for a 47 salad), Picanha skewers, Japanese cesar salad, and a 13 oz ribeye to share. We also added in an order of pomme puree and maitake mushrooms. The bone broth was rich and as expected. I'm not typically a huge fan of broths, and the saltiness after a few sips was a bit too much for me. The 47 salad was light and crisp. The picanha skewers were absolutely delicious and a perfect appetizer to start the meal. The Japanese Cesar was a miss for me, I just didn't care for the wedge of lettuce. The ribeye, pomme puree, and maitake mushrooms were DIVINE. I got my ribeye done medium and it melted in my mouth with every bite. Paired with the mushroom and pomme puree, it was a meal fit for royalty. I have not been able to stop thinking about it. I would definitely return for this scrumptious meal again. The service was also great, we had our server check on us throughout the night. Please note that 18% gratuity is automatically applied. I was so sidetracked by how amazing the food was that I forgot to take pictures of my full meal.
The service was very slow today during the lunch time.
However they made it right and I appreciated that.
Nice atmosphere, polite staff.
Reservation at 7:30pm, seated at 7:50pm. Jumbo shrimp was not fully cooked or appropriately chilled. Picanha tasted like two cuts of meat; half of it was tasty and half was not tender. Would have liked to have bread with the meal but they had run out of garlic bread and had no other alternatives available. Fries and 47 salad were both good.
Slow. I’ll pass
Came here for my bday dinner. Some of the food was amazing. Some soso. The pace they set is slow. I told them I was tired and would like the check. They said to have dessert I needed to go upstairs. Great bday dessert ZERO.
A Michelin Flat Tire
After 40 years of traveling all over the world and dining in everything from Michelin to mom-and-pop restaurants, this is my first review. I connected in LA to dine at Maude while traveling for vacation. What a mistake. The restaurant is small and very nicely decorated. If Japan is still working on robots for restaurant servers, they should call this restaurant. Maude has already perfected robotic service. We were met at the door by a somewhat intimidating person who appeared to be the head server. No welcome or engagement; all business. Sit here. We dutifully did. With all the personality of an unplugged refrigerator, we were on the edge of our chair after each course, hoping that she would not serve the next dish. Better one of the robot servers who mechanically called out the ingredients of the dish. She served about half of the dishes, mumbling words, but we dare not to ask for clarification. The food is beautify presented, with tweezer applied flower petals on each dish. Unfortunately, every dish was tasteless and bland. This leads me to believe that Curtis has hired his Gardner to moonlight as his chef. He should stick to gardening. Hope fades after about the third dish that there is any hope for the evening. Still working to forget the entire experience, I won’t share each course as others do. But to provide some context, one dish was a Chile “soup” that was poured table side from a tiny bottle. I think that’s the Michelin part of the experience. The tiny bottle. In any case, the soup tasted like McCormick’s red Chile powder cooked in boiling water. The other dishes weren’t any better. The only highlight was the bread and butter. It has some green specs baked in which Broom Hilda mumbled, but again, we didn’t dare ask. When we thought the evening was finally over, we were brought upstairs to a wine cellar for dessert. Again, very nicely decorated with 100’s of bottles of wine and about every spirit you can imagine. This is a good strategy; try to forget you just wasted a ton of money for the worse meal of your life with alcohol. Maybe they’ll come back? One area that Michelin restaurants excel is desert. Always creative, beautifully presented and delicious. Not here. The first dish was some mandarin thing with nuts or seeds. The second was a sugar globe with dehydrated fruit. It looked like a dog’s breakfast, and someone must have put the cake in the dehydration machine along with the fruit because it was like eating sawdust. Mercifully the bill finally came to the table. While I always tip 20%, I was going to reduce the tip to 15%. But that isn’t possible as the service charge is already added at 18%. Another smart ploy, as some of the staff would go hungry. There is a tip line, which is quite presumptuous of them but after all that alcohol, why not give it a shot? I was going to actually add in a negative 3% and net out to a lower number, but recognized that would only extend the suffering. I just wanted out. I paid and left. When you leave, they provide you a copy of the menu. They should really do that upfront so you can follow along, given all the mumbling. But on second thought, I wish they hadn’t. Reading the menu the next day is like waking up in Vegas the next morning with a tattoo and asking what did I just do? I’m sure LA has a number of good restaurants. This isn’t one of them. Next time I want to dine at a Michelin restaurant to celebrate, it’s back to New York…where Maude wouldn’t last the proverbial “NY minute”.
Maude’s a long way to travel from Australia but so worth it
Visit Maude‘s for my birthday dinner, and from entering the restaurant everything was exquisite. The wait staff were Sublime. Their attention to detail and care for you as a customer was genuine and they showed excitement with every dish they brought you. We enjoyed local, paired wines from the California region and the wine maître de matched these perfectly. The food continuously comes out, however, it’s only small portions, but I think we counted 19 different items to try so you will leave very full . I have been wanting to come to this restaurant for a very long time, and it was on my bucket list for things to do, and so glad we made the journey
A wonderful food experience at Maude!
Excellent in every way. Service, decor, food, wine service. All carefully and kindly executed. A memorable meal for sure!
Excellent birthday dinner
We have been wanting to dine here for a long time, so finally been able to dine here (we live in Australia), was a dream come true. The wine pairing was superb. In keeping with other fine dining experiences, I would suggest providing diners with the menu at the beginning of the service, than at the end of the meal. Its always nice to follow the courses and what you are having. Definitely worth the experience. The staff and service were top notch.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
