A charming cafe! I was looking for a restaurant to dine at after visiting the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. It's just a 5 minute walk. Matilda is a very small cafe so we came at a time when some seats were available. The menu was prix fixe including a starter, entree, dessert, beer or wine, and coffee/tea. There's one server for the whole establishment. Everything I ate was excellent. I enjoyed seeing all the postcards that decorated the walls. I would recommend dining here and it's a great memory I have from my visit to Madrid.

Matilda is a delightful and charming brunch-style cafe in the afternoon, conveniently situated near several museums in Madrid. Similar to many places in the city, the prices were reasonable, and the food was both fresh and delicious. Given the affordability and smaller portions, I took advantage of the opportunity to order a diverse selection of dishes. However, it seemed that most people opted for a single item, as some were merely here for a coffee or a quick snack. The service at Matilda was friendly, although occasionally a bit slow due to the cafe's popularity and the limited staff, with only one person waiting tables.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely wonderful lunch.
Just a few tables with few dishes prepared for the day. Great food, great service and great ambience!
Be the first to ReplyTruth be told, I came looking for another restaurant.
It was closed so I found Matilda by chance. I enjoyed a light and delicious breakfast with great decor/vibes. If you wake up late, like I did, it's okay because there menu is served all day.

My wife and I love finding small, welcoming local restaurants where we feel at home anywhere in the world and Matilda's tops the list! The food was outstanding, atmosphere intimate and homey and it was a perfect way to start our third day of discovering Madrid. Breakfast here was like a warm hug.

Small cafe close to the museums, prix fixe menu, choice from 2-3 first courses, 3-4 second courses, dessert, glass of wine or beer, and a coffee with dessert. Inexpensive (14€), especially for the quality of the food.

Be the first to ReplyMy friend really liked this place the last time she went
My friend really liked this place the last time she went since this place has really authentic Spanish food and a rotating seasonal menu so she brought me here. She wanted to get some bean soup but apparently it's a winter menu thing. The ham we got was SO salty. Not sure if this is how it is traditionally supposed to be cooked, but it was so salty you could literally crunch on the salt rocks. It was the most disgusting ham I have ever eaten. Everything else was only okay. The pear juice though was really good. The tangerine juice just tasted like orange juice. They have cute decor on the inside with postcards from all over.

My friend and I were recently in Madrid for a few days and Matilda was down the street from our apartment building. We walked by a few times and commented on how cute the space looked before we stopped by for a glass of wine. The space is absolutely adorable, warm and inviting. The staff made us feel right at home and like long lost friends. We liked Matilda so much that we went back several times and even visited for brunch (which was delicious). Be sure to have the carrot cake pancakes!

I visited this restaurant today I knew about it from yelp and its a magnificent place
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for breakfast.
I had the toast with tomato, olive oil and Manchego cheese. Two large slices of french bread, very tasty. Reasonably priced, very friendly service. Had an English menu and they speak enough to make ordering easy.

It was right near our Airbnb in walkable distance. Very nice cozy intimate place for a morning breakfast. Owners were friendly and the food was awesome.

This little out-of-the-way place with the decor of eclectic knickknacks is very special, because of its exceptional owners, and they're very personable service. I had the toast with tomato and Iberic ham, which was delicious, while my wife had a toasted croissant, which she said was excellent and freshly squeezed orange juice. I also had 2 cups Lavazza café con Leche, always great! Tomorrow morning, we are going for a second breakfast and if we were staying longer we would continue to have our breakfast at Matilda's.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely adorable restaurant in the cutest area of Madrid.
This happened to be right next to our Airbnb, so we came here not once but twice in our two day stay in the city. The servers were so nice and helpful. Their coffee was amazing. The lunch included an appetizer, entree, dessert and glass of wine for 12€. Unbeatable and delicious! Highly recommend stopping by this little hidden gem.

Although located near the Prado and the tourist area in Madrid, this small coffee shop/breakfast place isn't at all like the overpriced so/so cafes that are typical of the area. The coffee is great and you choose from the traditional café (espresso) or a more American style coffee. The food is also very good. I got a jamón and queso croissant and it was delicious and filling. The staff is friendly and patient, and the prices are very reasonable. This is must stop before you hit the town for site seeing.
Be the first to ReplyA cute breakfast spot for locals and tourists.
The seating is small but people dont stay too long. The iced Americano was really good.
Be the first to ReplyAdorable, cozy cafe.
Fresh, homemade food. Very vegan friendly and well priced. €12.50 for appetizer, entree, desert, wine or beer, and coffee. Close to the museums (especially Reina Sophia). Had the menu del dia and chose a melon & tomato gazpacho, cous cous with veggies, and fresh local cherries. All delicious. This was the only place I went with my omnivore family (lots of non-vegan options) that had multiple, substantial vegan options that allowed me to get a taste of the local cuisine and ingredients.
