Drinks: so delicious and unique Food: wowowowow the flavors are very rich and you can tell it's no basic Mexican flavor!! Tacos were amazing!!Service: very popular spot but they accommodate our party so well! Ambiance: super low key vibes great for date night or grabbing drinks and food with friends 10/10 recommend
Be the first to ReplySince I'm Mexican I didn't expect much of this restaurant.
It was a very nice surprise. Everything we ordered was very tasty. The food you could call it as creative Mexican, since it is not exactly tradicional Mexican food. But it has a twist to gourmet that I really enjoyed it. Great ambience and great service. Definitely coming back.
Be the first to ReplyVery average everything: food, service, decor, ambiance.
If you ask me, not worth the calories.
Be the first to ReplyWe had office lunch at Mexali and they were fantastic.
We reserved a table and placed our order in advance in order to not wait as it's busy lunch hour. Everything was well organized and on point. Everyone liked their food and ambiance is lovely. We will probably go back for happy hour. Staff were attentive and very polite.

Ok mezcali!!! Live in the neighborhood and finally got around to a little dinner here. Ordered the guac, the duck tacos, and the cortatodo salad. The duck tacos were the star of the show! The guac was good- nothing crazy. And the salad with shredded chicken was good. The atmosphere was lively though a bit loud. Service was friendly and the margarita I indulged in was not bad at all. Would come back if needed.

Service is very casual in this place so if you are one of those people who looks at the small details and gets annoyed if the server is not so involved with service then you might not enjoy. For me it took me by surprise just because the guy who waited on our table didn't even look like he was working so it is very casual, HOWEVER the food is so WORTH it and soulful. In my personal opinion the fish tacos are a 3.5/10 just because I feel they should try to season the fish PRIOR to breading it and maybe adding some seasoning to the mix they use to do so as they were just fish tacos, nothing special, no striking flavor while on the other hand the Diablo brisket was just full of flavors we had to order it again. We also had the barbacoa; the short rib fell off the bone (best part) the black beans take away from the flavor of the dish... cool, casual spot for a younger crowd looking to pregame and have some tasty bites before a night out

My boyfriend and I were trying to find a new spot to grab a late dinner on a Thursday night around 9:30pm. I came across Mezcali on Google and decided to try it. The ambience is amazing, very trendy and the colors/mood lighting are on point. And their playlist is FIRE! We ordered the Salmon Tostadas as an appetizer and they were to die for! The flavor of the mango salsa and salmon complimented each other beautifully. For our entrees, he got the Hamburguesa and I got the Baja Bowl. He said it was the best burger and fries he's had in his life - a bold statement coming from a VERY picky eater. The baja bowl was packed with so many amazing flavors, I could eat this for the rest of my life and be completely content. For dessert, the churros with chocolate and strawberry sauces, and a chocolate cake. Also 10/10. And our server Stefan was very attentive for it being so late, he made good recommendations and brought us a complimentary shot at the end of our meal. Overall, the ambience, food, and service all receive 5 stars from me and I know we'll be back very soon! Definitely check this place out!
Be the first to ReplyThis place has terrible service.
I would not recommend. Definitely don't do the bottomless brunch it's a waste of money. See ya!
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommend.
Had elote, sea bass, churros! So very good, but not cheap. Ambience great, food and service great! Food so so good.

We came here as a group, so I was able to try almost everything except for the seafood dishes. The salsa selection was an AMAZING start, but the first order, the beef tacos had an odd aftertaste. I was actually more drawn to the veggie options. There are 2 veggie tacos on their menu, but by far their special veggie plate was the best!!! I had to go back for seconds!
Be the first to ReplyFun place.
The tacos are very good. This includes the shrimp, steak, fish tacos. The guac felt like it might have come from a container. It was OK. The elote is fun to eat. It's a lively, louder place on a Saturday night.

Went to Mexicali shortly after it opened with a group of about 15 people. We were seated in the lower level of the restaurant though I wish we had been seated on the main level. Dinner was good and we especially enjoyed the nachos! Next time I hope to be on the upper floor and I intend to go for brunch since I've heard good things. The lower floor is available to rent out for private parties/open bars.
Be the first to ReplyVery intimate atmosphere and great for friends or a date.
Food was okay. Nachos and tacos average. Not very filling either

Fidi doesn't have many good eats which is why the addition of this new restaurant was all the more disappointing. The decor is nice but staff is slow to come by to take drink orders. While not ideal, not a deal breaker. Unfortunately, the food was subpar. We ordered the nachos- which comes with liquid cheese similar to velveeta cheese and wo any guacamole or salsa. Ordered guacamole which was disappointingly small in portion size. The main course was also unfortunate. Ordered the chicken mole and it didn't taste anything like mole. All in all really disappointed as potential to be a great eatery is but a distant wish.

Pros:- great tasting food- plenty of open space in the restaurant- easy to get a table at seven on a Saturday nightCons:- high prices and not a ton of food to go along with it- menu is small (not for drinks though)
Be the first to ReplyGreat happy hour menu prices for food and drinks.
If you work in the area definitely worth the visit. Really pretty upscale vibe inside as well. Can't wait to try their brunch.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed Mezcali.
The bartender was so sweet. The frozen machine was down so she made my drink by hand, on the rocks. The drinks were good. I was not a fan of the salsa trio.
Be the first to ReplyCame here on a Monday holiday with three friends.
Plenty of space to sit. They still had their brunch menu and three of us got their brunch burger which was delicious! Service was also great. Will likely come back for the burger!

Finally stopped here again for dinner and the chicken Molé was very tasty and so was the flounder. Wines by the glass or also very good even though you had a limited choice. The service was so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great.

We went for brunch this past weekend and it was our first time dining at Mezcali. While we understand that brunch menus are typically scaled down compared to the regular menu, it was disappointing that so many choices were left out. Tacos would have been great! We tried the Breakfast Quesadilla, the Sunrise Burrito and the Guacamole. All were very good but not outstanding and the portions were on the small side. Also, it would be great if they had a few more hot sauce selections other than Cholula- very mild! Our main issue was the service. Our server seemed to be disinterested which doesn't make for a great time no matter how good the food is. We agreed to come back and try Mezcali for Dinner next time based on our experience with the food. Hopefully the service will be better!

Overall, the experience at Mezcali was great and it is a much needed addition to the neighborhood. We came in on a Sunday night and were able to sit in the garage-door windows which will be lovely in summer. The decor inside is very well done, nice music sound, good volume for conversation and great lighting- candles everywhere. This would be a great first date location in the neighborhood. We started with two cocktails, the classic margarita and the ranch water, both incredibly refreshing and well mixed. The margarita also had an aesthetically pleasing black salt on it.The menu is the right size to cover something for everyone. We ordered the steak tacos, taquitos, quesadilla, and tuna tostados. The taquitos with their dipping sauce were our favorite of the bunch just trailed by the steak tacos where the meat was perfectly cooked. The quesadilla will be a hit with any vegetarians and had very nice and bright flavors. The one let down in food was the tuna tostado, which had all the makings of a perfect dish, but an overwhelming amount of a spicy oil on them. Would suggest that coming on the side.Admittedly, there was a slight snafu with a non-listed credit card surcharge when we got the bill (must be disclosed in NY State). Which is what lost a star. I will give the owner credit though, when we raised it, he ameliorated the situation.

Amazing brunch! The huevos rancheros was one of the best I've ever had and the bottomless mango margaritas were great!
Be the first to ReplyMy coworkers and I dined at Mezcali on Thursday, February
My coworkers and I dined at Mezcali on Thursday, February 17. We had a reservation for 6PM. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy. We were greeted by the host, then brought to a table downstairs. Shortly after being seated, we received water and then our waitress stopped by to take our drink order. I ordered the spicy margarita. The drink arrived a couple minutes later. We ordered a bunch of plates to share including the nachos, chips and guacamole, taquitos, and tuna tostada. The food arrived as it was ready. I tried all of the small plates. The guac was tasty, but the portion size was extremely small. The tuna tostada was also very flavorful. The nachos were plentiful and enjoyed by all. My major gripe was with the taquitos. When I bit into one, I immediately hit something hard. I spit my food into my napkin and immediately went into the bathroom where I found a bamboo stick (toothpick). I immediately told our server who replied, "taquitos" as if this had occurred before. I'm not sure I fully understand how this ended up in my food nor doI reallly care, buy it was gross. Also, the taste was way off...beyond disgusting. She apologized profusely and said she would take some food/drinks off the bill. Because I was out with coworkers, I never shared this information with them. For my entree I ordered the chicken tacos (3 in a serving). I enjoyed them and found them to be really flavorful. While I was eating, the server stopped back again and mentioned that she would be removing some items from the bill. Since I wasn't paying, I never saw the check and hope that she kept her word. Overall, the space was really pretty. The interior was clean, including the bathrooms. Noise wise, this restaurant is extremely loud. Between the music and other patrons talking, it was very challenging to have a conversation with the person seated across the table from me.3/5 due to the food mishap that could have been worse
Be the first to ReplyCame here for happy hour after work and before dinner
Came here for happy hour after work and before dinner reservations. The place is huge!! I had reservations and the host said they were going to be busy before he knew I had reservations. In the time we were there (about 50 minutes) it filled up to maybe half capacity (but again, the place is huge). The host was also our server! He seemed swamped, but was still very attentive to all tables. I got the coquito frozen cocktail which was decently strong and pretty tasty. We went with the happy hour menu chips and salsa, and guacamole. The guac is very tasty. Perfect amount of salt. The salsa is a trio (mango, green Chile and pasilla). I was confused by the pasilla salsa because it looks like it should be very spicy and it kinda feels like it might be very spicy when you eat it but it's not? I loved the other two salsas though. Bar area is GORGEOUS. The entire place is very pretty but the bar gave me glammmm vibes. It's a 5/5 for happy hour for me!
