This is the closest thing I've found to a New York style steak house in San Francisco. And like any great steak house the service is good and the steaks are well made. But my favorite thing about this place is the space. The wood laden interior and leather seating creates a space where you want to have a dry martini. The food was all really good but my party and I all agreed that the most special things we ate were actually not the steak but the oysters and the dover sole.We ordered the seafood tower and when it first came we commented how the bulk of it was oysters. Usually this would have been a bad thing for my party but they added a dressing to the oysters that just made it really good. I think it was in fact the best dish we had. The lobster, shrimp and tuna tar tar were all staples albeit a bit small but the oysters really stood out. The ceaser salad was also a bit of a show. The person who prepared it for us did one of the most comprehensive descriptions of a salad I've ever heard. Then there were the mains. The steak was good, what you would expect though I wish it had been served a little warmer. I would stick w their aged cuts as we also got the wagyu filet mignon and maybe this is personal preference but the porter house was better. Finally we tried the fish and that was perfectly cooked and deboned. We actually found this dish to be one of their best, simple but well seasoned. The cheese cake desert was also our favorite of the few we tried. We agreed that it looked like something out of an anime cartoon. All in all if you are looking for a high end steak house in the kind of environment that a dry martini or a neat glass of whiskey seems appropriate this is the place for you. Surprisingly we enjoyed the seafood almost more than the meat.
