The ambiance and service were all impeccable.
The food was great, but we felt like it needed a pinch more salt for every dish, especially the tomahawk steak. It's a fun date night (there were champagne, dessert, and steak carts) in a beautiful setting overlooking the bay.
Be the first to ReplyChose this restaurant for a work colleague retirement
Chose this restaurant for a work colleague retirement celebration (11 people). What a mistake. Very disappointed and upset at our choice. The food is terrible. We all ordered steak dishes (Tomahawk, New York, and Filet Mignon). Very disappointed in flavor and taste. Everyone's meat dish came out cold. And the meat does NOT taste of high quality. Also disappointed in the choice and taste of the sides. The mushroom sides has no flavor and is done poorly. I don't mind paying for good food. But when the entire party returns to work complaining about the food, something is wrong. On a good note, the waiting and managerial staff are very professional and knowledgeable regarding the menu. But that is not enough for a return visit. Definitely do not recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplySmoke & mirrors- really great smokey drink.
I'd get this again. Fall canapés (Shrimp croquette, Smoked salmon tea sandwich) - both were very good, just very small and I'm not sure it was worth $5 each. One canapé is not shareable. There was one canapé that was like a savory cream puff that was just ok for me. I can't remember the name. Truffle deviled eggs- this came with 6 halves and was amazing. Truffle flavor was strong. I'd get this again. Caesar salad- very good and wouldn't mind getting this again. It comes with anchvies Maine diver scallop Provençal- this was bomb. It had a lot of seafood, not just scallops, and the rice was nice and crispy. Service was excellent. I came for a birthday celebration and we were all really excited to see each other. The Caesar salad was a whole presentation and I think the staff noticed that we weren't paying attention so they came back and started the presentation from the beginning. At the end, they prepared the leftovers and bagged it. They also opened the door for me to enter the restroom. Everyone was very friendly and didn't make us feel rushed even though we were the very last customers there.

This place is worth every cent you will spend. Service. Food. Ambience. Decor. Top to bottom. I'll make this a regular go to.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and I'm so glad I chose this place. The ambiance was perfect, service was outstanding, and the food was amazing. Our server (I think his name was Manuel) was wonderful! He had a great, positive attitude, and really knew the menu. The restaurant manager was also very kind and attentive, and made sure our dinner was going well. Waters were always refilled, table was constantly cleaned, and everyone there had great customer service. -The caviar is an absolute MUST -Our Tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly -For sides, you have to order the charred brassicas and truffle fries. Both were SO good! -And I'm not really a mushroom fan, but my boyfriend DEVOURED the miso glazed mushrooms For drinks, my bf got the warriors way, and I chose pear-fection. Loved my drink so much, I ordered another one. They have a champagne and dessert cart that goes around, which I thought was super cute and unique. All their desserts looked so good, I wanted to get them all haha, but we decided on the chocolate cake, and it did not disappoint! Pro tip: make sure to request for the booths facing the window, when you make your reservation. We were almost sat next to a big party in a smaller table, which felt a little awkward. We had to ask to switch tables. Not sure why the hostess tried to sit us there when there were a couple other tables open with more privacy. Besides that, there are no complaints! Definitely will be back :)

Exquisite location , friendly service , food is beyond "good food" doesn't compare to any steakhouse in SF, the quality is superior. We had the Burger and the Steak accompaniment by the fresh oysters. Easy access to the Chase center to watch out show right after. Will be back to try the desserts
Be the first to ReplySo this is my 4th time dining here.
Went out as a date night from my other half. The place is beautiful, very classy and chic. Even the unisex bathroom is beautiful and smelled really good. The night had a hiccup as soon as I walked in the door. The table they gave us was really small as I requested a booth so I switched tables. I left my phone behind on accident. Long story short, someone kept picking up my phone and hanging up. I'm not sure who took my cell phone. After the staff began searching for it and my fiance trying to get through by calling it several times, He decided to go back downstairs once again, and magically, there it was back on the table that we were sitting at under the menu. I don't want to accuse anybody but I thought that was very sketchy. Even some of the staff agreed that it was weird. So, for the drinks, I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives. I also had Merlot, which was really good. For appetizers, I ordered the oysters, sashimi tacos, and the french onion soup. All three were extremely delicious. The sashimi tacos are tiny but so delicious. For dinner, we ordered the tomahawk, potato puree, kale salad, and Wagu burger with truffle fries. I loved the burger. It simply melted in your mouth. The fries came out cold, and I didn't touch it. The potato puree was okay. The kale salad wasn't really too much to my liking. Now here's where I wasn't happy. The tomahawk came out cold, so I flagged down my server to let him know because the tomahawk was supposed to be the star of the evening. He apologized and took it back, so I assumed they were going to make me another one considering the hefty price tag. To my surprise, he brought back the same exact one, heated up. At that point, it was too well done as I like my steaks medium rare. I was very disappointed and I wanted to send it back, but I didn't because my fiance was really hungry and I didn't want to ruin his evening. I find it very disappointing that an upscale Steakhouse would do something like that. If I'm dropping $600, I expect everything to be perfect. I left very unsatisfied. It's sad because I wanted to celebrate my sister's birthday here in a few months but now I'm thinking twice about it. It's unfortunate to drop this much but leave unsatisfied.

. Night of Stevie Nicks concert my mom and I had a wonder experience here. From the moment we walked in to the moment with left it was all top tier. We were seated in the main dining room upstairs, had a bottle a wine, the deviled eggs , split the 10oz filet with a side of puréed potatoes. All items were very good. The staff and manager went above and beyond to check on us and make us feel very comfortable. Last night my husband and I went here before the Warriors game . We were unfortunately seated downstairs in the lounge area. Don't get me wrong it's very nice down there but that's not the vibe we were going for and most importantly being seated in the booth around the corner caused us to be forgotten. We showed up a little early and were seated right away, our drinks came fast but unfortunately so did everything else. I feel like it was a bit rushed and when the 10oz filet came it was cold. We would've said something to the server but he didn't return for awhile after that. My water glass was empty multiple times as well. I know this all sounds petty but when your bill is $400 you expect it to be out of this world.

Friend recommended this restaurant to us to celebrate our 33 years wedding anniversary with a couple of friends,Cocktail was very good especially the truffle popcorn. My friend closed the tap before we headed up to our table. We were assigned to the worst table of the restaurant facing the most busiest area which is the kitchen entrance. This was the biggest mistake of the seat arrangement when the restaurant at that time was quite empty. We ordered the beef tartare with their home made chip very good. The salad was excellent, oyster with mignonette and nori was very fresh and tasty. The tomahawk was very disappointed. It was a bit burn, chewy and lots of fat. Totally below my expectation. The desert was very good. We had the pear tar and yuzu gateaux sorbet.Server packed our food but I found out at home that he forgot mine.Thank God we checked the bill. Our cocktail was added onto the bill. They had to correct twice .Overall my experience with this high end restaurant was a big disappointment
Be the first to ReplyCame to M&L for our anniversary and we were not
Came to M&L for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. Starting off with the service, we were greeted right away by the hostess and seated quickly to our table (tbh the table was quite small for us two, didn't really fit all the food we ordered but it's alright) Never needed to ask for anything, our glasses of water were always refilled, checked up on occasionally and staff were always prepared to help clean the table for upcoming dishes. The ambiance was nice, but a bit too dim for me, lighting is the best for pictures but it still works out really nice, you get to have a really intimate experience with your friends or partners. Now onto the food, we definitely over ordered. Had a few drinks then got the popovers. In my opinion the popovers were a bit too dry. Instead of getting appetizers, we got the M&L burger (not what we intended to order when we planned to come) but we were really glad we ordered it. It was phenomenal, savory, crunchy, juicy, with a bit of sweetness to it, really yum. We shared one burger and the truffle fries it came with and we were both already kind of full (we eat a lot too, this burger was just really rich) Then we finally got the tomahawk ribeye, what we intended to get. Cooked perfectly medium rare, thickly sliced for us, it was nice a meaty, super rich in flavor. It was definitely on the fattier and richer side. We also got the two sides of the yukon potato purée, and creamed kale. Both were delicious, i will say the creamed kale was really salty, but complimented well with the steak. Overall, while there were some things that could've been better, i really enjoyed the experience here at M&L. I wouldn't hesitate to come back again to try other dishes!
Be the first to ReplyI can't wait to have an excuse to return here.
It's definitely a place where you need a reason such as a birthday or other celebration to splurge unless you have a great deal of disposable income. The food is terrific. We ordered three appetizers. The oysters were great and so was the beef tartare. We also had the truffle deviled eggs, which were good but not extraordinary. My 20-ounce New York Strip was cooked perfectly medium-rare. It was not overly seasoned, and it was wonderful. The flavor of the meat was apparent. We also ordered two sides to share -- potato puree and creamed kale. Since we had the appetizers, the two sides were enough. They were very good. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The service is excellent. Our server highlighted and explained a few items on the menu. Someone in our group ordered the Dover sole and the finishing of the fish was done table-side. Even though we were pretty full, we made room for dessert. We couldn't pass it up because they looked so spectacular. They bring the desserts to your table for you to see. We ended up getting three to share. They all were very good. I enjoyed the Yuzu the most because it was refreshing. Finally, they bring mignardises to wrap up the meal.

Came here for a work dinner to celebrate wrapping up our year end. It's a newish restaurant in the Chase Center. We came on a Tuesday night and it wasn't very full. The decor was a mix of modern yet rustic, the bathrooms are a bit confusing the first time because there's no good way to describe the door you have to walk through to get there. The food and service overall was excellent.Started with bread and butter. The salad made table side was tasty and made with the freshest ingredients (which is why you might be a bit shocked at the pricepoint)The regular tomahawk was one of the best restaurant tomahawks I've ever had, and it's definitely better than Niku's without question. The fish (french sole) was also made tableside and very delicious with the combination of flavours. All the bite sized items / hor d'oeuvres were also pretty tasty and you can't really go wrong. I might pass on the shrimp cocktail next time but it wasn't bad. The deviled eggs were my favourite. The wine selection was good, and the somm was not pretentious. I didn't try the desserts but my boss and coworkers seemed to have enjoyed them! The only thing I would like to see improved is that our wine glasses were not refilled often and we often had empty or near empty glasses. If the tavle setting were not the half dome, I would reach for the bottle and pour for my boss.Overall, great food, very hospital, I would come back for that tomahawk!

My girlfriend surprised me with a fancy reservation and we were excited for what we thought would be a special evening. It took well over an hour and multiple follow ups for couple house martinis to arrive. We felt ignored and should have walked out but there were limited alternatives in the area so we decided if we could just get a couple of drinks in hand we would be happy as clams. The food was tasty and we were offered a complimentary appetizer for which we were grateful up until the item showed up on our bill. We all have off days but considering this was the most expensive meal we've ever had, the experience really left a bitter taste.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience! Yummy food, good service, beautiful views.
It's a bit pricey, but it's definitely a nice place to go on special occasions. We will definitely be back. Only thing I don't like is that they have you literally splitting a table with someone. We had to ask for a different table because we were literally on top of another couple. It felt extremely uncomfortable.
Be the first to ReplyHad a fabulous dinner here.
Was visiting from out of town and found this place last minute based on reviews. We initially planned on another restaurant but Miller & Lux was open until 10 while the other place was closing at 9.We got there about 8:40 on a Thursday nightwith no reservation but was immediately accommodated. What a treat we were in for.The service was suburb. We got champagne & several cocktails each. The Caesar salad which is made table side. What a fun thing to watch.Very fresh. For entrees we got the French Dover Sole that is flown in 3 times a week and finished table side. And the filet. Which was cooked perfectly medium. Both entrees were fabulous. The truffle fries could have used a little more truffle (I looooove truffle) but still good nonetheless! For dessert we had a lemon tart that was yummy too. Definitely will visit this place again if we're in San Francisco again. It's not a huge place, very intimate setting.Everyone was so so nice. I hate I can't remember our waiters name but he was absolutely wonderful!

I have never been this impressed, wow! EVERYTHING Is amazing here. You walk into old school vibe and decor. The service is A1. The way the servers break everything down to you they showcase everything to you table side by carts. I came here on a Sunday, following veru disappointing and overly priced dinner (STK) the night before and let me tell you, it was like night and day. Seriously, I declare this my favorite steak house. The steak was good, appetizers and desserts all made to perfection. No complaints and I can not stop talking about it. I recommend to anyone and everyone who will listen. Can't wait to go back :)
Be the first to ReplyI absolutely loved my Valentines day experience at Miller
I absolutely loved my Valentines day experience at Miller and Lux. The steak and fish were both cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful. I had the Australian Wagyu steak and it was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. The fish dish was equally as delicious and cooked just right. The margaritas were also amazing and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of acidity and sweetness. Lastly, the desserts were absolutely divine. I had the Lime Cake while my friend had the chocolate mousse and it was the perfect way to end my meal. I would highly recommend Miller and Lux for anyone looking for a delicious meal with fantastic cocktails.

I went back a second time for my birthday and this time my experience was excellent. The food was no doubt delicious, but Anton was our waiter and he was amazing. He was kind and patient with us and I truly appreciate him being nice and going along with our jokes at the table! Thank you again Anton and to Bob for reaching out and making things right with us!

If you're ready to splurge on a nice meal - please be prepared to WOW'd. The staff is so friendly and world class service. Truly Bay Area's new hidden gem.Tomahawk was absolutely perfection with a few delicious sides of mash potato and cauliflower.Oysters were surprisingly so insanely good with their water atrium!? So cool. It's giving bougie east coast vibes and I love it. Well done !!!
Be the first to ReplyCame to Miller & Lux for my birthday dinner last week.
The vibes were phenomenal. Beautiful on the inside. Felt very extravagant & beautiful. They pay attention to detail. Because on the top of my menu for pay party of 6, they put "Happy Birthday Jocelyn!" I ordered the New York strip steak. Cooked medium. As well as the potato purée & a classic ceaser salad. Everything was amazing & cooked to perfection. My drinks were great as well. They brought me complimentary birthday desserts & made me very comfy. Will come back again.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the closest thing I've found to a New York style
This is the closest thing I've found to a New York style steak house in San Francisco. And like any great steak house the service is good and the steaks are well made. But my favorite thing about this place is the space. The wood laden interior and leather seating creates a space where you want to have a dry martini. The food was all really good but my party and I all agreed that the most special things we ate were actually not the steak but the oysters and the dover sole.We ordered the seafood tower and when it first came we commented how the bulk of it was oysters. Usually this would have been a bad thing for my party but they added a dressing to the oysters that just made it really good. I think it was in fact the best dish we had. The lobster, shrimp and tuna tar tar were all staples albeit a bit small but the oysters really stood out. The ceaser salad was also a bit of a show. The person who prepared it for us did one of the most comprehensive descriptions of a salad I've ever heard. Then there were the mains. The steak was good, what you would expect though I wish it had been served a little warmer. I would stick w their aged cuts as we also got the wagyu filet mignon and maybe this is personal preference but the porter house was better. Finally we tried the fish and that was perfectly cooked and deboned. We actually found this dish to be one of their best, simple but well seasoned. The cheese cake desert was also our favorite of the few we tried. We agreed that it looked like something out of an anime cartoon. All in all if you are looking for a high end steak house in the kind of environment that a dry martini or a neat glass of whiskey seems appropriate this is the place for you. Surprisingly we enjoyed the seafood almost more than the meat.
Be the first to ReplyWow wow wow! This place exceeded my expectations.
The filet was so tender and full of flavor! The service..impeccable! Yes. It's a bit pricey but it was nice to have a night out and feel luxurious. The staff take such good care of you and the food is to perfection! We had the filet and Cesar. My husband had the burger. Recommend all. Dessert was okay. I would skip on it next time.
