Good ramen, nice atmosphere
The neighbourhood is not very alive, but the place itself is charming. The service is friendly, the music too loud and the ramen is quite good.

Earned its hype. Food was consistently enjoyable, from small plates, to sushi to sliced duck. Highly recommend. Looking forward to trying their ramen spot, which I’ve heard good things about too.

Nice place good food and service also . Quite aside from the center with reasonable prices . Try to book a price room downstairs to avoid busy room upstairs

My first experience at a Michelin Guide restaurant and it couldn’t had been better. I tried the Tori Karaage (crispy chicken with chilli mayo) with rice and Gurken Kim Chi on the side and the Dragon Sushi Roll. Miso soup as starter and chocolate mousse as dessert. Everything was perfect. It’s hard to reserve a table, so be aware. You must be very patient.

Lunch on our last day in Vienna. Fully booked for dinner well in advance but managed to get a lunch reservation. We had heard amazing things and it really didn't disappoint. Superb chicken skewers to start then sublime sushi (dragon roll and chilli salmon). Lovely staff and nice chilled low key and relaxed atmosphere.

You definitely need to make a reservation you will be glad you did & glad you ate here. The food was excellent as was the service. Not your traditional Japanese restaurant it is really Japanese/fusion & delicious. Not one item we ordered was just fair all was great. Definitely a good place to eat. Noisy, lively but great.

We had been looking forward to eating here but were disappointed with the lunch menu. Hopefully the á la carte is better. 1- Very small piece of salmon. Sakura salad sounds exotic but was a small bowl of green leaves only. 2- A small bowl of miso soup with three small pieces of tofu. Average taste. For main, some mushy aubergine (which was supposed to gratinated but didn’t seem to be), mushy rice, ginger and hazelnuts (which did not go well with the rest). 3- Wasabini cocktail tasted a little of wasabi and for the rest nothing. The price was very high for what was served, still hungry after meal. Staff was running around all over the place but did not remove plates timely.

my orders are coming always late, cold and sometimes they don’t even come and I always pay with the card. And the customer service won’t help you, trust me. I write from day to day experience. People don’t know to find the adresses. They hire everyone. They don’t salute and everytime wait longer for you to give some extra money for them. And if you don’t give them they make faces. Really really bad for the reputation of vienna.

Small cozy Vietnamese restaurant, hardly find a place without prior reservation. However, in case you have no reservation, you'll be served with a cup of Tea while awaiting to free up a place. Excellent service and experience!

Absolutely loved this place. Fresh and tasty food, beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff. Will go back soon again. Only wish the place was a little bigger, however it’s a unique place for Japanese/Korean food for me in Vienna.
Be the first to ReplyBeware: NO FORKS ALLOWED!
The food was amazing - flavorful, rich, tasty, etc. For those looking to enjoy Asian Cuisine and get a break from rich Austrian food, Mochi is an excellent option. HOWEVER — the host, who also served us, and seemed like the manager… was awful. He was pompous. Wearing a long-sleeve summery linen shirt, with cargo shorts, and mild beard stubble (in case you need to identify him), he was beyond full of himself, and RUDE. My girlfriend has a love-hate relationship with chopsticks - and at this moment, figured it would be easier to enjoy her meal with a fork. When she requested a fork, the full-of-himself man was taken aback - literally - he stepped back, in disbelief, almost in a “Ah! How dare you request a fork in my Japanese restaurant!” Type of way. He then proceeded to lecture my girlfriend on the proper way to eat edamame- and that a fork would not be necessary — oh, really????? You don’t need a fork to eat edamame? And then he said “no.” That’s simply low grade service.
Be the first to ReplyGood food but prices totaly out of range
We ate at on the nice terrase of the mochi am market which has a good buzz and was quite full. Nice table and friendly service and noted that the all dishes are for sharing. The menu is not too large and i think we had one of all there was but still ended up hungry. The plates might be for sharing but they are realy small portions so it was hard to share and some plates are just not shareable. On the bright side the food was quite good but the after taste of the price leaves a bitter feeling. The grilled calamare with a slice of lime had about 15 small pieces at 13 euro, roughly a euro a piece and look at the picture. A thin slice of meat with some rucola on top for 22 euro. I know prices are going up but. Hands up to good service. The reservation slot is for two hours but we could stay longer without a problem. At the end 260 euro for us five and still hungry.

I have been a very loyal customer of Mochi ever since I discovered the restaurant through a blog over 8 years ago. At one point, it was arguably the my favorite restaurant in the world. It was always the first place I would go to to once I landed in Vienna, and sometimes, I would even go again towards the end of my trip. While I always like to try new restaurants and types of food, Mochi was always at the top of my list and the one place I would have to go to. Unfortunately, lately the quality of the food has declined significantly. I went about a year ago and was surprised at the poor quality but I figured it was a rare exception. Then I went again 6 weeks ago and the experience was just as bad. My wife even looked at me and said "I can't believe i'm going to say this, but Mochi isn't good any more", and unfortunately I totally agreed.
Two days later, a friend of mine who lives in Vienna called me and asked me if I wanted to go to Mochi, and I told him that it is no longer what it used to be. He said he agreed and that the restaurant had really declined. He then told me about Mochi Am Markt, he mentioned that the food there was excellent. At first I was hesitant, but then agreed to go. The food was spectacular!! and I was really glad I went.
I'm not sure what happed to Mochi Praterstrasse and why it is no longer what it used to be. Mochi Am Mark was a great experience that reminded me of the old, original Mochi.
Must visit
Amazing experience.
The fusion Japanese and Peruvian cuisine is amazing and surprising.
There's a Great food for vegetarians.
Big no
No service to be proud over, 19 years old girls flume around, never worked on restaurant before.
Don’t go here in summer, much better in winter.
